Ranged Gameplay needs to be buffed

99% of all the ranged Weapons aren’t even viable once you play Damnation and higher. Even with Ogryn the right-Side Tree is not good when you play in higher Havocs. Somewhat decent in Aurics but in higher Havocs just not viable at all and in Auric get completely outshined by the other Options in the Tree. I have yet to see a single person in my almost 800 Hours in the Game who even plays PBB with Ogryn or the Twin-linked Heavy Stubber.

Or really anything else but the same 3-4 Weapons and 2-3 Builds all the time lol.

For Zealot too just Flamer and Bolter. Try taking one of the Autoguns into Damnation and higher, good luck. Shotguns got buffed but they still suck except for Arbites Exterminator Shotgun.

Veteran its just Plasma Gun and Recon Lasgun. Sometimes you rarely see someone playing the Hellbore Lasgun or maybe the Revolver (used to see that one more often but now barely anyone plays it)

All the other ranged Weapons or Tree-Perks/Abilities for ranged Gameplay…simply suck.

Bit hyperbolic isnt it?

Starting a post with a statement this absurd and obviously untrue is not a good tactic for productive discussion.

I strongly recommend deleting this thread then starting again in a much less inflammatory way.

And just FYI:

I’ve used both brauto and shotguns on Zealot in Auric plenty and find them more than good enough there. And that’s with a lot of active use, I’m not just taking them then meleeing the whole game before someone makes such an accusation.

Iv never been keen on any of the autoguns but Iv seen people smash in Aurics Maels with them. Iv also had great success with the double shotty on Auric Maelstroms.

All the recent youtube videos seem to confirm this.

Maybe one day they will stop nerfing to oblivion.

More like stop buffing to oblivion.

Maybe they’ll buff Scrier again next patch, give it gold toughness or something.

Ranged Gameplay is largely fine. The issue at hand is how ridiculously capable we are in Melee against SPECIFIC Enemies. For example, we have ZERO business being able to just spam Dodge Slides up to Ranged Enemies and then bap them to death, like what cats do to mice.

For Gameplay purposes, being able to Dodge Slide in order to avoid Enemy Ranged Attacks is fine to an extent… but it should be HEAVILY limited. That way Fatshark could reduce the AI Director’s spam of specific Ranged Enemies while making Ranged Gameplay more relevant and viable.

Also, Scab Shooters need their Secrets of the Machine God buffs back:

A lot of problems with how ranged are fought would be fixed if fatshark added shielded horde and elite variants that actually forced players to fight hordes instead of bumrushing past them. Give elite shields a charging shield bash that interrupts sliding/dodging, dragging the camera towards them and put 10 of them in the frontline and you’ll never see players rush at a gunner patrol ever again in their lives. Give the shield bash to an ogryn bulwark and have it launch players upwards in the air to set up some skeet shooting for local shotgunners and now they’ll be more annoying and scary.

Another idea would be to deplete stamina while under suppression, and, to add to this, the current effects of suppression should be tied to stamina as well (0% stamina would be current effects of suppression, and above 0% would be like no suppression or minor debuffs per 25th or whatever percentile). Make sliding only provide a damage reduction buff to ranged attacks that depletes as stamina depletes (from 100%-0% or whatever seems best balance-wise). Then just decouple the currently cumbersome ties between stamina and dodging and now suddenly you have a gameplay loop that requires you to cycle from your dodges to using your stamina in a more efficient and rewarding manner. You’d end up having to watch your angles against shooters more often, and they’re more likely to bleed you out during kites in a meaningful way.

Hear me out… Corrupted Enforcers. Maybe they were in the Water Cartel’s pocket, and the Dregs had some incriminating evidence against them? Once the Dregs defeated the Water Cartel, the Torrent’s Enforcers might’ve had turncoats.

Enforcers fear prison more than they fear anything else, and giving in to a Chaos Cult’s blackmail is an extremely slippery slope. Plus, a Chaos Cult enforcing ORDER on its subjects to keep its power? That’s some delectable irony while also being very on-brand for 40K.

Hell, give Arbitrator riot shields to the Scab Shotgunners and make their Shotgun interrupt dodge slide within a reasonable range (not a mile away please). Suddenly they go from the biggest joke in the game to a very formidable enemy that needs to be planned for.

Then Director no longer needs to vomit up 15 Scab Shotgunners just for them to get blown away from a single Plasma Gun shot. Then their population could be reduced to a more reasonable number to match their increased lethality.

Its the gameplay that devolved into VT2.5 endless spawn of boring enemies, trillions poxes everywhere that 2 slap you.. That is why ranged weapons are worthless if they can’t 1-shot multiple enemies, or 1 tap Crushers, it’s not worth taking…

DT has devolved from interesting gameplay where you have to take a role and stick to it into “mash potatoes faster” kinda gameplay…

On psyker every ranged weapon is viable, so this post is moot

Would be better if you could spend more time playing Ranged Weapons. Some Weapons can’t even realiably hit an Enemy more than ~20 Metres away, the bullet spray is really insane. For Ogryn it makes sense but with for example the Agripina BAG on Zealot its like half the Shoots spray somewhere else but the Target if it is a bit further away.

If someone else is also focusing on playing ranged Ammo can often become an issue.

And while you can still make those work in Auric with all that Chaos and Enemies around it is often not good to play ranged; just for picking out some Specials/Disablers here and there or if theres no Horde around.

I know the Game is supposed to be Melee and Ranged Mix but Melee heavily dominates and almost all of the Perks to restore Toughness, apply xy Debuff and so on are also for Melee.

The ranged gameplay is not that good, because in every mission you’re getting swarmed by armored elites, if they fix that somehow the problems with ranged playstyles will resolve on their own.

They need to make each mission modifier actually unique. Darkness should become more horror-themed with additional mechanics to reinforce people sticking together, sniper gauntlet should be more ranged focus, scab only should be armor focused, high intensity should be big hordes, and pox gas missions should be removed from the game XD

Veteran can play a primarily ranged game, if you use the right weapons, don’t shoot like an ork and pay attention to the “swoosh” backstab sound.

If you’re specifically talking about zealots then they are an unusual case. The only class with no real ranged spec.

 We like to play with our food!
TandJ

Do not brace it, it’s more accurate in hipfire (this is true for several braced weapons)

Fire it in controlled bursts for significantly better accuracy. Also for BAG on Zealot I highly recommend grabbing dance of death. Hugely improves the effective range. IJ also does a lot for brauto but I’ll admit that keystone is a pretty hard sell at the moment.

Yeah and also this.

Ok i tried the Agripinis BAG out again in Auric High Intense and can use it but i don’t think its any better than just Mediocore, in the whole Horde Chaos can’t really use it. More for picking out Disablers and some ranged Units but can’t do that properly either when you got the whole Screen full with an Horde and Elites and it being so inaccurate…

like its just so insanely inaccurate even with hipfire, i just played on Hourglass went to pick up one of those batterys and a sniper was like no more than 10 metres away from me…had to dump like an entire mag on him because 3/4 of the shoots just missed lol wouldve been ten times quicker if i just walked to the sniper and hit him once or twice in melee

Hmm kinda seems like a waste of multiple perk points just to fire your ranged weapon a bit more accurate.

I don’t like that Keystone, i only ever used it for the Penance. Martyrdom and Blazing Piety are so much better
