If ranged enemies can never really do damage to players, what’s the point of putting them in game?
Ranged enemies were very easy to fight against even right after the last buff on them. Now nerf them again? LOL.
Just keep buff the melee enemies, and make this game another VT2.
I true solo a ranged enemies only auric malestrom mission right after the buff on ranged enemies. It was actually still too easy, compared with melee enemies only mission, which is quite challenging.
This is Warhammer 40k, we are not playing VT2. Why can’t we just have some proper gun fight with ranged enemies?
I would argue that Darktide doesn’t have the foundational gameplay loops to make interesting ranged combat, but the definition of “interesting” will vary from person to person. What I mean is that there isn’t really a cover system, the shooting doesn’t feel particularly great (I really enjoyed the crosshair changes) and there’s really nothing elevating the ranged combat above playing a solo Call of Duty campaign.

I am pretty sure there are many ways to create a fun ranged combat in DT, since players have so many anti-ranged talents/weapons.
The only problem with this issue is that Fatshark clearly lack of such experience, and they seldom listen to their players.
Which players tho? You ask 4 people a question and likely end up with 5 opinions. I will agree that the highest difficulty should cater to the top of the playerbase, not all. There are 5 basic difficulty levels and auric missions for a reason. We have been complaining about broken spawns and player power creep since Patch 13. It took some fairly strongheaded community members and some luck to finally get to the right people at Fatshark to start doing something about it.
Finally, if anyone’s reaction to difficulty changes is to call for reversal of those changes, it is clear that difficulty is not for that person.
We are already there. Play melee with a quickswap for specials, it’s the best setup, be it Vet, Zealot or Ogryn. Honestly you can get more shooting out of playing VT2 with a ranged class than in DT. I guess the only difference is that marksmen spec isn’t useful in DT because hybrids can just deal with specials just as well.
I don’t really see a problem with lowering the difficulty. The actual gameplay should be fun regardless of how much damage the same enemies do.
It really feels like they only changed it because a bunch of noobs came back for the update and couldnt adjust to the changes. The amount of players this update i have seen who just dont know wtf to do when there is a stack of shooter pouring onto them tells me this. So instead of giving these players time to adjust and learn how to counter shooters, they just make the game easier.
If they could listen to experienced players who know and love this game.
Casual players come back after an update, play for 2-5 hours, and leave. Their ideas, from my point of view, are worthless, because they never actually learn to play this game. It’s sad to see a good change taken away by these people.
They have started, that’s why jsat, telopots, crab? and few more people I cannot remember were invited to Fatshark and take part in testing / providing feedback. Some of the changes introduced to events and enemy density where clearly from those people. So there is hope.
Exactly this. I average 3 hours a day on this game most weeks. The last 3 weeks - Maelstroms and Hi shocks have been RIDDLED with sub 40 hour players that have absolutely no clue what they are doing. I guarantee you those are the same people crying about gunner buffs yet they’ll stop playing this game in a month.
Is it possible, in your mind, to dislike the shooter buffs and NOT be a noob?

your only choice is combat knife and ski to the enemy, until now its the most effective way.
because cover does not work, suppression works worse on you as a player than AI shooter.
I don’t consider that person a “noob”, I consider them a player who’s ego or obsessive mind ( “achievements”) prevent the top players from having a small niche in which they also can have fun.
I really enjoyed the buffed shooters the way they were.
But we’ll see how things feel in tonights session, hopefully still good, but I wouldnt mind having the buff back

I am a community admin in CN DT community. In May,2024 we held a community competition, which was a great success. After that I tried to contact FS, give them feedback from our top players.
FS said they will reply on our feedback, now it has been 2 months since then.
You might need some more practice, because that’s simply untrue.
And what if that player doesn’t have an ego, but still dislikes the shooter changes? Is that possible?
It seems disingenuous to claim that the only reason smeone can hold a different opinion than you, is because they’re emotional/unreasonable/unexperienced and that there’s no other explanation.
Would you like it if someone claimed the only reason you don’t like eating ghost peppers is because your ego doesn’t allow you to admit you can’t handle the spice? That’s a ridiculous thing to claim.
