LOL they nerf the shooters again

No, i personally never use the metas and i had no problem with them. Proper positioning and movement is the main thing you need

It is, and that’s why 5 basic difficulty levels exist. For sake of full disclosure, I already argued those changes should have their values halved in Damnation and be kept as they were on Auric.

It’s kinda weird they instantly reverted it but i also host to god barely noticed a difference on my zealot since i kept just sliding into groups of them to take them out.

Even taking that into a account it doesn’t feel like the shooters are the main difficulty a lot of the time as going through what was a run ender it usually came down to stuf like crusher swarms or gas nades or pox bursters at bad times.

Initially I totally missed the patch notes part which covered that issue, people started talking about stealth buffs on the forums and I dismissed it as I felt no much of a difference :man_shrugging:

Strawman argument: The Thread

Casual players can’t at the same time:

  1. Only play the game on updates
  2. Complain more than anyone else for a short period of time

Casuals don’t interact with the subreddit and the forums, so don’t go pretending that their feedback was so loud that it made FatShark:

  1. Go through the feedback
  2. Actually listen to the feedback
  3. Implement the feedback
All this within 1 week? Come on…

This leaves us with 2 subset of active players:

  1. Those who immediately adapted to the change and were having fun
  2. Those that didn’t and immediately started to complain

But again, these are all regulars, people who use the forums or the subreddit.

Casuals jump in after an update, get their ass kicked, and then go for bad comment on steam, which force FS to lower the difficulty. What a shame.

Crazy amount of time spent complaining and not playing

If you really think that this is the cycle that happened within ONE WEEK, on FatShark time, then there is no sense discussing with you. You’ve made up a strawman in your head and want to pretend.

Go look at the threads in this very forum, everyone who complained was a regular (a regular complainer lol)

Reality is they should of kept the update intact for people who actually enjoy challenging themselves and want to expand upon their gameplay even more. For everyone else that didn’t enjoy the update - that is why DIFFICULTIES exist. Enemy too hard? Too many enemies? Too fast for you? AI too reactive? Lower. The. Difficulty. You. Drone.

No argument from me. My point is this: Fatshark didn’t make this change based on player feedback. There’s no way this all happened within the span of about 6 business days.

I agree, change the difficulty, learn to adapt, etc. But this wasn’t FS’ plan.

I’m all for the idea that they continue to support scaling difficulty through the lifecycle of this game. I hope they add more options for players who want to challenge themselves. But FS aren’t masters of difficulty (although I would argue that VT2 had some of the best examples of scaling difficulty).

The reality is that FS just don’t have the ability to cater to everyone and in the active community, opinions are split on what is the best direction for the game. My personal opinion, I enjoyed harder gunners but it didn’t elevate the gameplay in any way. I was just enjoying it for the slightly higher difficulty but as a gameplay mechanic, I found it incredibly boring.

The ability to cater to everyone comes in the form of 15 DIFFERENT difficulties.

They are about to leave on holiday for two months, they didn’t want to deal with the headache. I don’t think we have look much further than that.

This is the correct answer, admins, feel free to close the thread!

See… When they allow/create the ability for that many difficulties to actually exist at once…people will complain less.

But did you notice that regular missions have had almost non-existent Hi-intensity anything since the big update? I did. I played for well over 40 hours this past weekend(fri-sun) and MOST of the regular missions were normal/Low intensity with rare special conditions(outside of auric)

As someone who got forced out of Auric Damnation…this is just blatantly untrue. I’ve been running a melee-heavy bolt-pistol vet and a gun psyker and both are capable of handling shooter packs no problem.

I haven’t really seen that board for a while tbh lol. I just remember my time progressing through the difficulties - I spent a good 50-100 hours practicing between Damnation low intensity/hi intensity and working my way up to being able to survive Hi Shock. One of my better gaming experiences has been working my way up from thinking I’ll never be able to survive on regular damnation to being able to not only survive but thrive on Hi shock

Yeah…They did something with the board. It’s been a lot less frequent you see special conditions and hi-intensity on it. I am used to Hi-Intensity of heresy, but Heresy was only just getting things like “shock troop gauntlet” and “hunting grounds” but was either low intensity/normal.

Weird I wonder if its on purpose or just rng. I used to hate waiting for hi shock to pop up which is why I was very happy when they added the Auric board

Everyone upset with the reversion seems to be coming at it exclusively from the perspective of the most difficult levels of the game, without recognizing that the shooter change affected all difficulty levels. Even if people playing the highest difficulties wanted a greater challenge, if it was spiking difficulty further down, that would be a good reason to revert it, and come up with some different ways to up the difficulty at higher levels in other ways.

I don’t really have a dog in this fight, havent played newest patch yet, but I can see where such a change may have had unintended consequences at different difficulty levels

I don’t know, but it’s a pretty SIGNIFICANT change. Considering right after the update, the special conditions and stuff all became way more scarce. Like heavily obvious.
