We’ve all been in this situation. We find a weapon with good/great rolls, pray the Omnissiah… and it gets bricked by Mommy Hadron. Time to spend a few millions at Brunt’s in the hopes of finding another one with those rolls, rinse and repeat.
But what if we could, for a price, reset a weapon to its gray state? Removing all perks and blessings, so we could try again at the Hadron Roulette™ and possibly salvage a bricked weapon?
The price would depend on the rarity of the weapon (Green would be pretty cheap, Orange would cost a lot more). It would still need some plasteel/diamantine farming, but it would make the process of getting nice weapons a bit better.
Who cares about the lore accuracy when your sanctioned psyker somehow bypassed being sent to the emperor’s mind-soup of the day after being sentenced. Let us pay Brunt to whack our weapon/curio on the ground and break it back down. Then you could at least have deterministic grinding focusing on whatever you want to do instead of a gameplay loop that literally forces you away from the game to hold onto your resources.
„The new system sucks. I just desecrated my best weapon, hoping to make it even better. Now i spent all my ressources consecrating it again and again, but the item came out worse than it was before.“
It might make progress slightly easier (only in regard to dockets), but it would also introduce the ability to actually downgrade your gear, which would make for an incredibly bad experience (same thing as those who suggest to enable us to randomly reroll modifiers).
What we actually need, is the ability to spend diamantine to remove locks, learn blessings of choice and upgrade the modifiers of our items (consecration should not cost any diamantine).
This would solve all crafting issues as well as ressource imbalances (currently, diamantine is always left over).
