Allow us to reset weapons to profane (grey) rarity

The current process for item acquisition mostly revolves around finding low-rarity items and upgrading them. Although this can occasionally result in a positive outcome, it mostly results in the creation of items the player doesn’t want to use, which can be a major letdown when the item in question has a desirable, or interesting set of modifiers.

With the inherent randomness of the weapon shop, an item that does not turn out well once consecrated represent not only a sunk cost in gameplay time, but also a sunk opportunity cost.

Allowing players to reset consecrated items to profane rarity and re-consecrate them should they so choose would remove a lot of the sting of an unfortunate roll, without altering the core item-acquisition and upgrading process.

This literally does nothing to solve waste of time and resources since you’re still re-rolling through the same garbage gacha system.

Well there is one instance where this would cut down on a bit of the RNG; if you happen to find something with an absolute god roll on the base stats. Then such a system would save you some time trying to pull another good roll from Brunt’s slot machine. But then the usecase for that scenario is both so small and would only serve to depreciate the existing function of Brunt.

I dunno.
Get rid of any locks; and you just need to roll ONCE a good base weapon. Thereafter, you can just keep switching blessings and perks in and out to match meta.

I know this has been done to death. I’m not adding anything new. But genuinely; you get a good base roll from B and then you’re set for life on that avatar. Is that anything close to progression? No.

Should you have to get progression? Is it not just skill? Well, that’s the $1m question isn’t it.

Darn, that didn’t show up as I was writing this thread.

My thought was that it would be useful to be able to recycle items that have a good base.

Changing one crappy process to another?

OP, I appreciate your willinges to improve the crafting in some way, but it would add another RNG layer to the RNG-layered cake called crafting.

I stand by solution posted by Flawless (IIRC) ages ago:

  1. Break the locks.
  2. Allow us to unlock / progress towards blessings of our choice
  3. Allow us to upgrade base stats of weapons

Those changes would incorporate rebalance of the usage of plasteel and diamantine, as currently diamantine is getting worthless and you will be restricted only by plasteel.

I think this solution, with a bit of fine-tuning behind it, would resolve all crafting / itemization issues in the game, as you would be able to progress towards weapon of your choice. If RNG blesses you and land a decent gear without spending resources, then good for you, if not, then use crafting to create what you need.
