Quick tips for damnation hard mode

Took me many attempts, but I just won and wanted to share some tips I noticed from me best runs. Please note that this is just a series of tips in no particular order, they are just my observations.

  • Have a caller on voice chat. This person should be telling you when to rotate, that an elite wave just spawned, to stop or announce boss damage for simultaneous shield breaking, etc.

  • Toughness is a massive issue and the main reason most groups wipe. Bring ways to replenish your own and your allies toughness. Veteran shout, Zealot relic, heavy Ogryn attacks, etc.

  • Focus one boss first until it is dead. Most groups focus the ranged guy first as the sword lady is easy to kite. The fight becomes unimaginably easier once one of the bosses is dead.

  • Blow up gas grenades, please. They don’t go away on their own and will continue landing everywhere. Everyone needs to do it, not one dedicated person. I see it suggested that one person should be doing it, but no, its everyones job. Just run into the grenade slightly, and run right out. I frequently run along the edge of an entire string of them and clear them all up.

  • In the gas rotation phase, people don’t realize it but its kind of a dps race. If you don’t kill quickly enough, you get surrounded and it becomes difficult to move from one side to the other.

  • Manage your resources well. You only get one ammo bag, one medkit, and 4 health stimms. Use ammo bags and medkit only during rotation phase or everyone will be split up. Don’t use medkit too soon, if its during the first rotation phase then you have probably taken too much damage already. Use health stimm as soon as you have a wound of corruption, or if you think you will die.

  • The biggest threat is the elite waves, not so much the bosses themselves. In my most successful run we had elite waves getting Ogryn grenaded, plasma gunned, sturm grenaded, etc. Its not the bosses that will kill a good group, its the waves of maulers, ragers and crushers that will get you. Its honestly worth stopping all boss DPS to clear up elite waves before they hinder you.

  • Another big issue is shield breaking. DO NOT break a shield unless you know you can break the other bosses shield too. I see this one a lot. If you break a shield and the other one isn’t broken in time, it will fully regenerate and you will lose your DPS phase and will keep attritioning. If not done correctly, you can have a string of back to back broken and regenerated shields.

  • A major Zealot tip with the relic, as soon as the battle starts run right up to the twins and relic. They will both be frozen in place, and with a good team you get the first DPS and rotate phase for free. Done correctly, you essentially get to skip the first phase and go right to the second.

  • A major Veteran tip is to bring Field Preparation. Its probably the most overpowered talent in the game. Medipacks will cure corruption, ammo bags will give grenades. I see a lot of Veterans without this and it is mind boggling. Its literally strong enough to be its own keystone.

  • Again for Veterans, plasma gun and voice of command are both highly recommended.

  • Ogryn tip, take the new shovel. I hated it at first and still kind of do, but the special heavy attack will let you handle the constant crushers, ragers, maulers, and it will 4 shot a bosses shield. If you play well, you can mostly solo the sword lady with it even with other elites mixed in.

  • A major Psyker tip, don’t be a Psyker. Okay thats mostly a bad joke from me, but still. This is a long fight, and Psykers don’t have good survivability. I’m only slightly prejudiced, but Psykers typically died first and often. A good Psyker here would probably be a better voice of command Veteran, or a better feel no pain Ogryn, or a better stun grenading relic Zealot.

  • This is basically Darktide’s equivalent of a raid. It is hard and lots of groups are not going to be able to do it. If you can see your group doing better with each attempt, maybe stick it out. If you don’t see much improvement after a few tries, might be better off trying with a different group. My first attempt with my successful group, I immediately knew it would be successful because we half healthed one of the bosses on the first attempt. Many groups never even got close.

Sorry for the wall of text, but thats my accumulated knowledge. Feel free to contribute your own, or disagree with some of mine. For reference, it took me probably 20+ attempts.

dang 20 attemts… Ogryn ripper gun with cavalcade/fleshette + burn perk and nukes, supported by veteran with field improvisation you get 5 nukes if your team mates leave you the ammo crate uses (you want to be shooting non stop anyways)

tell the others to focus the ranged boss, while you take care of the melee boss shield with you ripper gun

when both shields are down just burst down the red plasma dude with all you have

repeat 4 times and boom, you start doing it in 4 - attempts even with the most unfortunate of team mates

did it like this for all my steam friends

Improvisation, and no its not, its a bad talent, but extremely good on this occasion

best comp for this would be 2 ogryns never dying, 1 vet with field improvisation, voice of command and focus target, and a knife zealot that just run around and defuse all mines

its how i did it the first time

last time i did it with a surge staff psyker, and it did ok, best weapon for humies would be knife anyways

lol, it massively depends on your group. If you have a group of Darktide friends to play with, obviously it’ll probably be a lot easier. As for me, I was bouncing in and out of Darktide discord lobbies, and I got a wide mix of player skill. Some players were exceptional, and some didn’t last a minute.

I am at 30+ attempts…

on pubs this info is useless as you’ll get at LEAST two zelots who expect to be focusing down the bosses and are incapable of handling adds, bombs or timing. next time fatshakr makes an event it’ll be easier because they’ve been forced to learn how much of their playerbase does not understand how to do these things.

i can’t explain how much i agree with this tip, i main Psyker, i literally plays almost only him but istg using him in this fight should be considered griefing, you bring nothing to the table, no dmg, poor team support and almost no CCs.

Gunpsyker is a really good DPS but you are too much squishy so the main problem persist, change class.

i changed to my Zealot after i don’t know how many times i tried with Psyker and i managed to complete it first try, without even sweating.
