Psyker Staff Special is useless

You can switch to melee and get the swing off from your sword faster than it takes for the staff special attack to release, not to talk about the abysmal damage it does.

The staff special attacks need a rework, the animation
especially for the 2nd special attack is cool but there has to be more to it than just slowly slapping enemies.

Possible ideas for reworking the special:

  • allow casting brain burst from it
  • use only the 2nd attack version, add some larger knockback wave to it and a peril cost
  • create a psykinetic barrier that can block ranged shots and projectiles at the cost of peril per ranged attack

If there are multiple intetrsting options then let the special attack for the weapon be a random roll (upon creation) of those that are available.

A 360 degree knockback/push that costs some peril would be cool.

This is something I’ve wanted to talk about in a review of Staves as a whole.
There’s a lot of cool concepts to explore, but there’s also a lot of problems and missed potential.

Having the Force-push on Special Attack for staves would be a good step in the right direction.
