This skill severly impacts our fps. Another game bug allows you to channel it without any peril cost and spread across dozens of enemies makes this even worse.

Have noticed the same thing. If large groups of enemies are clustered together, smite creates an intense white cloud around all of them that saps dps a lot. I think it’s the stacking transparent textures/effects on top of each other that taxes GPU a lot.
CPU actually, its why youll see 4090’s stop producing frames during smite and plummet in usage while the CPU is incapable of parsing the new draws in time.
There’s all kinds of weird performance issues in Darktide, not all but many related to CPU overhead. Just sitting in the mourningstar you can see large fluctuations in GPU usage alone.
UI elements completely trashing performance for instance, which is why they added an option to remove portrait rendering, or unlocking multiple penances will cause a huge stutter when they first appear, indicating there’s severe issues with asset parsing and caching.
It’s so problematic they havent even gotten the console to be smooth.
Im sure eventually they will iron out a lot of the bugs, once it gets out of its beta phase.

Lol good one. I used to think this game was released 6 months early. I’m now of the opinion it was released 1-1½ years too early. So many things about it seem incomplete. Even the menus are half-assed. It’s just plain text.
Another thing are the androgynous or entirely male character models. It’s impossible to tell that your character is female unless you can see the face. All the body proportions are exactly the same, unless you’re viewing your character with no clothes on. That seems half-assed to me. Like they simply didn’t bother making female models of the different cosmetic pieces. Which I assume is actually because of time constraints. Game released too early.
Another thing is the weird flickering terrain and textures when you load into a mission. It’s like it’s still in the process of generating the level, visibly before your eyes, as you enter it. Half-assed incomplete programming again.
I could go on and on.
