Psyker feats and brain burst love

The psyker needs some work. All the soulblaze feats except the lvl 30 one are trash. There isn’t literally a single feat that affects the overall damage or charge time of brain burst or anything. The feats in the first 2 rows are okay but the lvl 15 and lvl 20 feats need some work. Something for brain burst that doesn’t only proc on elite/special kills would be nice.
Also while it makes sense that the staves and the brain burst use the the same peril resource, it is annoying from a mechanical point of view. Every time you brain burst you are using up your staff potential and vice versa. When I use a staff my amount of brain bursts performed per mission goes down 90% since I can pre-charge a surge staff before walks the corner but every time I want to kill a guy with brain burst, the vet with a bolter takes him out before my charge can finish since the m1 charge takes 2 seconds to finish and the m2 charge is absurdly expensive in terms of peril generation.

Basically put:

  1. There should be a feat that makes that charge process quicker besides Kinetic Barrage at lvl 30 (which is one of the only amazing feats the psyker gets besides psychic communion, they both real good).

  2. the brain burst m2 should not costs as much as it does if it is going to get any use over the m1.

  3. some of the feats need rework. It would be nice if they affected brain burst or your staves in a more general manner than just proc’ing warp charges and such since you literally need to out gun the guys with bolters and plasma guns in order to get any single warp charges. I literally get 80% of my charges from psychic communion with the current way things are.

I feel like the talent that gives a 10% chance to utterly randomly brainburst anything from a poxwalker to a boss once per 15 seconds almost needs it’s own thread. It’s just that bad.

Why would they want to encourage such randomness? I don’t even want it reworked, I’d rather something utterly new in place of it.

Several Psyker talents feel boring or useless, but that one is next level egregious, even on a conceptual level.

Straight crit chance scaling with Peril would be more interesting and at least synergize with some staves.

Fyi, getting close to completing a brain burst before the target dies will still award a charge. Not that that would invalidate your point.

Oh, also on Heresy and Damnation it’s even harder to get meaningful snipes with Burst when it takes two to kill a pox burster…
Two.
To kill a suicide enemy.

That does horrifying damage and frequently gives you 2-3 seconds total to respond.

The whole class feels misleading, difficulties 1/2 you’re like oh, I’m the elite sniper. It’s my trait. It’s my grenade. It’s my life.

The difficulty 4 rolls around and you realize literally any veteran or zealot does the job a dozen times more efficiently, and you’ve transitioned to horde management with raw AoE damage. Which to be clear is super fun and I love annihilating endless hordes with space magic. But it’s odd how hard they push “kill elites” then pull a fast one around level 30 as you start pushing Heresy.

Edit: to be clear, I prefer using staff to being a Burst Bot.

I find this mechanic INCREDIBLY inconsistent. I think it’s more likely to award you with the stack if you were targeting a special, but even then it feels like half of the time it just… Doesn’t work for absolutely no reason lol
