Small Rant: This is pretty obvious to some… & this has been happening in too many of the games I’ve been in as of late for some odd reason, I have to mention this. Once you pick up a med crate or ammo crate you are fully responsible for them unless you give it to somebody else if you think you’re not up to the task. Don’t pick them up unless you intend to drop them at the right moments & are self-aware enough or if you see one just point it out if you think you’ll forget you have it on you, right. Like, for example, I was in a match in an event where literally everybody was red or orange ammo & this guy would not drop the ammo crate for the life of him. Every single person asked politely still not one response or even a drop. Stuff like this has been happening a lot more & these are not new players either from the looks of it. It’s just something super annoying that I have to get off my chest. I’m sure at some point we’ve all done this & forgot we’ve picked up ammo or a med crate, fair enough… But as soon as somebody asks, I jump right on it & say my mistake & drop it. It’s really not rocket science… When people are on low health & not a med station in site for awhile, I drop it or even in an emergency too. If people need ammo, drop it, my god! Some people are literally brain dead it makes my head explode. If only the Block List was much longer in length, I’d be happy.
To every single problematic person, there’s one solution
Some people are like this, and I think we should just be patient and chill, I mean, if the guy doesn’t drop that after you asked a couple of times, then it’s best to leave them be.
Or scream into the mic cursing their name and do a tantrum holding them hostage until they do what you want, then they’ll probably drop that crate, whatever you prefer
It wasn’t just this event it was literally most of the game, I should’ve mentioned in my initial post… lol. I even voted to kick nobody would it was nuts. But murder is clearly the correct path here. He’s got a point. But just in general this has been happening in a few more games other than this one that’s why I was so annoyed is all.
I think everyone on these forums know this. I really dont think the players who do these kinds of things care enough to visit the actual Fatshark forums, if they cant even be bothered to use crates when needed
That’s why I said this is going to be obvious, durp, but you never know right? These players that did this were well above a 100 level. The guy was like a 456 or something with decent stuff on too. Plus, I did mention I’m just venting maybe others have had this issue too who knows. This wasn’t just one game either this was several games within about a 2-days span. Isn’t that odd? Don’t you think? I wasn’t necessarily accusing anybody on here. I’m just saying in general terms. I just think it’s a dk move.
Yeah misuse or attempted misuse of deployables is a pretty common issue. Either they’re not used in time, used too early, or someone in the team starts raging & demanding preferential treatment (like dropping a crate that would be critically important in the finale when they are the only one who needs it). Or my fellow psykers who think that just because they don’t need ammo, apparently it’s ok to just ignore the ammo crate. And let’s not forget about double-dippers at near full ammo when a teammate is still on red.
But it’s not always an issue of indifference or even hostility. I remember well when I started playing DT 2 years ago. When you’re new, there’s a million things going on and it’s all you can do to just focus on surviving, it’s really not easy to pay attention to your team’s ammo or health. The game doesn’t tell you anything about how the ammo crates work either, most of the double-dippers don’t do it out of malice but because they just can’t know any better.
I can’t think of many good ideas on how to fix this tho. Other than experience, awareness, and basic consideration & empathy.
Yeah, it’s a tough one to really solve & I don’t think that they necessarily do it on purpose per se or maybe some do, but it’s just odd to me when I pick something up that’s important like this I personally tend not to forget. It’s just sort of shocking to me that higher levels do this, but I think something that’s even more annoying is the double-dippers. That is a great point without mods you cannot see how much is left. I never really thought about that because I’m so used to having it on. You’d really think by now they have this experience down, but I’m always surprised by the more experienced ones.
Yeah the game really should make it clear that ammo boxes have # of uses, not # of ammo.
It’s just, comparing experienced players & newbies gets tricky here bc even the people who know how they work have to assume the worst of their team. The optimal way to use crates ofc. would be for everyone to first magdump as much as they can and really use the advantage to pour out overwhelming DPS, then only click the crate when they’re completely out or moving on. But most people in pubs don’t know how crates work, so you can be absolutely sure if you wait before clicking on the crate, someone will have taken all your ammo. If even a single person is a double-dipper, that means everyone else must dip early too just to get theirs, which cuts the total available ammo to a fraction of what it could’ve been.
And so it goes. With most of the ammo per each crate being wasted.
I can’t think of many good ideas on how to fix this tho. Other than experience, awareness, and basic consideration & empathy.
I think the same.
I consider that some people may have the mic or chat turned off or not speak english etc. Also some people are just unaware or are at worst sadly just a pitiable troll. I try not to waste my energy getting worked up. I try
That’s the thing in every game, I expect the worst out of my team as sad as that sounds. I suppose that I take a more pessimistic approach when it comes to these things. So, that’s why I’m always on guard. Another Mod that helped with this as a slight solution is “Found Ya.” You might be aware of it. It just let’s you see Icons from across the map before you get into certain rooms, so you can pick up import stuff first before other players. It’s been a slight relief as well. But yes! Fatshark really should have some of these Mods included even just in the base game it’s really mind boggling, but of course this will never happen. I mean this would solve an assortment of issues that are even outside the realm of this problem as well.
Yee and I mean, I get missing what’s going on in the chat. I play on an ultrawide so that chat is so far off the center of the screen there’s no way to see it without looking at it. Plus 99% of the stuff there is useless banter anyway, so even if you could spot some movement there with your peripheral vision it’s easy to just dismiss it as pointless & not realize someone was actually asking for ammo. Sure there’s a voice command for that but virtually no-one uses it right so you learn to ignore that too.
Still, we should always pay attention.
…
Actually FatShark has added a ton of basic QoL stuff that used to be mods only. Sure there’s a lot left and much of it will prolly never get done, but they do pay attention.
As for expecting the worst of your team… I mean, I’ve been preaching that myself for a while too, but I definitely don’t think about that in a negative, hateful way. It’s not about blaming the team, but more about the reality of how things work in the game. It’s like how some people blame others for when they die, bc someone didn’t watch their back or didn’t kill the ranged or didn’t handle the crusher etc. Imo that’s pointless and almost always wrong, it just doesn’t work like that.
Everyone is responsible for their own safety. If you can’t handle the ranged, then don’t go into the open expecting others to magically read your mind and deal with them. If you can’t handle the crushers, then step back & keep your distance. Aside from deliberately blowing up bursters in someone’s face (unless they were the ones to run into a bullet hell to show off their pushing skills knowing full well what was about to happen) or blowing up barrels on top of your teammates on purpose, virtually every time you go down it’s because of you. Not your team.
Expecting nothing of your team isn’t an insult, just tactics really. At least on T5+ things happen so fast & change so quickly you can never expect others to have your back unless you have it yourself. Even if they wanted to cover, most of the time they’ll be too busy dealing with themselves. And no amount of cover & help will save a player from their own mistakes.
You have several ways to deal with that. There’s also the hard way… He get caught by a dog. You wait he dies to take the medikit or ammo crate.
I did it only one time… yes, that’s extrem.
By the way, I must say that this week I have encountered a team where the guy wanted that I drop the medikit and we were close to the medicae (and nothing to justify it).
I won’t spend time at answering to that… they did not need a medikit to heal 20% of their HP.
Yesterday I have been in a game where the guy that had the ammo crate did not want to drop it. By the same time, they were picking everything in chests… so I could not have ammos.
My solution: I rushed. I rushed so much that I did third times the damages of the 2 that were picking ammos. I picked all ammos I needed. The only one that could follow me was an other zealot. He did 500k damages, I did close to 800k. The 2 others 250k.
I would not have minded that they need ammos… they were at 30% when it started, I was at… 2%. But even at 75% they were still picking ammos and by fast looting (you open the chest, you try to see if there is something you need, but the guy come and loot everything).
I want to precise that I never rush… but this time, it was too much as they were picking everything and were not sharing ammos. So it was like if my zealot entered in fury and could not stop killing…
Sidenote: this permitted me to get ammos…
The problem is not that someone pick or drop a crate. The problem is the lack of cohesion in teams.
Either play with friends, use the radial menu, use your mic, or whine on reddit for karma. Plenty of tools available to solve the problem.
The first one maybe if you have friends, but the other three are like shtting in one hand & wishing in the other just to see which fills up first.
Yeah, I found a decent solution that doesn’t necessarily solve it 100%, but the “Found Ya” Mod is wonderful so you can get all the goodies first. It’s a life saver. But yours aren’t necessarily bad solutions either.
I tend to agree with you that the mistake isn’t usually malicious and is just overwhelmed players.
I can think of a few changes that could potentially help…
Fatshark could add a cooldown per player on each ammo crate charge.
I take an ammo charge, I now have to wait two minutes to take another charge from that crate.
Maybe you can only use it if you’re below 25% ammo too. That would help at least.
Just showing the amount of charges on an ammo crate like the “Ration Pack” mod does would probably help too.
That’s a brilliant idea the cooldown per player on each grab. I still find it funny that Fatshark did not at least have an ammo counter on the pack like in the Mod. It’s still wild to me. It just feels like common sense to have such a feature included at the very least. Maybe you should be the next Dev, my god.
Well thanks! They still may implement the ammo counter yet, don’t give up hope.
There could also be a good reason they’ve chosen not to do it too for all I know. Seems they wanted as simple a UI as possible. Maybe they think of it as one more thing to overwhelm new players if there’s too much going on there.
Maybe they would avoid the cooldown per use thing too 'cause they see these sort of conflicts as a pivotal part of the game and the expression of teamwork. Just throwing that out there.
Maybe you should be the next Dev, my god.
If I’m being recommended for a job, I don’t want to bad mouth my future employer after all…
Maybe it would have been better if the ammunition crate was placed in places like in vermintide2.
That way, even if one player monopolized the ammunition, others might have had a chance to get their hands on it.
Maybe if you use the wheel-emote for Ammo, a small Icon appears over your avatars head for the next 10 seconds, or until you next pick up ammo if that’s sooner.
Same for health.
