Progression

Its honestly too much having to log in every hour just to check the shop. Its been almost 3 weeks now of checking the shop hour after hour after hour hoping to get decent base item rolls just to bank them until crafting comes in.

The problem is, you very rarely even get the items you are looking for nevermind an actual good roll on them.

I think it might be time to just stop playing until Fatshark actually bother to even make an official announcment to clarify how they are going to improve on this.

The current ā€œcoming soonā€ upgrading options dont seem to have anything to do with generating new base items either so its never going to improve on the login every hour to check the shop system…

That’s sadly the endgame given to us by Fatshark right now.
Mindlessly wait for the store to refresh, so we can maybe get a weapon with good stats and maybe even roll good traits on it. Exciting stuff.

I am genuinely curious to see if they have anything better up their sleeve and for some reason didn’t get around to adding it pre-launch. Because I sure hope this isn’t their vision for what endgame in this game will be. The amount of RNG is just mind boggling. What happened to 100% completing on Legend difficulty guaranteeing you an Emperor chest. How is everything just so damn random …

It’s a trend in current gaming.
You will be rewarded for logging in at all times constantly. But never actually for playing because they are afraid you might stop logging in at all times.

It sucks, I wish playing the game would reward me, but currently it does not.

The endgame is crafting.
Just play the game and gather crafting materials.
Ignore RNG shop or just check it out occasionally when you get a chance.

So the ā€œendgameā€ is based on something that isn’t even in the game? Interesting how you think that might work.

I don’t think it might work. FS thinks that.

Lol, and it’s not even in the game. And we have no timeline for when it will be actually complete.

Yeah, you are correct, the endgame content is not in the game. The game released just a week ago. What is your point?

The point is: DO NOT release a unfinished game …

That a game that is missing actual integral parts should maybe have been labelled as ā€˜early access’, at minimum. Actually, it probably should have been delayed again until it was at least ā€œfeature completeā€. Right now we are essentially playing an alpha (because the came is clearly incomplete, let alone polished).

I also wish they released a more complete game.
They did not.
Now what?

Options:
a.) Quit game (with refund if possible)
b.) Play the game just for fun (if you are having fun) without worrying about progression
c.) Use whatever progression is in the game right now

Right now, you can play and collect crafting materials or log in every hour on every char to spin the wheel with the RNG shop or both if you have the time.
I am saying that just playing and collecting crafting mats will result in a much more fun, but also lucrative experience.

I agree that the game feels unfinished right now. But let’s be real here for a moment shall we?

How many of the people here whining about missing content would ALSO be whining about delays if they announced a delay again?

I’m pretty sure that more than 50% of the people that are not happy with the game now are the same people who would be nagging about the game being delayed again.

Why? Because they are immature, entitled and or spoiled adults. I’m not talking about kids with no patience here. I can excuse these last ones. The others? Not so much…

And yes, I too think that the game is lacking right now. 4 classes is waaay too low count and I would prefer a delay. When I said that in the FB forum 3 weeks ago they came after me with pitchforks…

Now they are throwing temper tandrums because the game is incomplete… Nuff said…

I think it is mostly about voicing these concerns over and over until we get some solid response from Fatshark and a time line when to expect these missing features and how they are going to be implement exactly. So that we at least get some sense in what direction this game is headed in.

You really don’t HAVE TO login every hour.

It’s a game.
Progression is slow and it’s a good thing. It took years to have all your red items in Vermintide 2.
There is no magic rainbow.

I think that is a fair point. Maybe as an important difference - there was sense of general direction on how to get your red items in VT2, if only ā€œdo the hardest difficulties and collect all tomes and grimsā€ to increase your chances for a red drop. Plus, some stuff, like skins, could be unlocked just playing the game (without holding your group hostage, I might add).

Right now, I don’t see how this all will work in Darktide. It’s even more random, and the game gives you zero feedback if it’s even possible to somehow influence drop changes etc, and if so, how that works exactly. It just feels like a step in the wrong direction. It’s totally possible that they somehow ā€œfixā€ this with future additions, like crafting, but it’s a fully released game and we judge it on what we have available right now. At the very least, FS should take note that the current system, rudimentary as it may be, isn’t exactly loved.

Yeah this gear progression is as boring and ridiculous as gacha game loot

You should not be incentivizing your players to wait an hour at a hub shop to MAYBE get gear they are looking for

Hell. Even Vermintide 2’s gear progression is better, and that is a low bar.

Says you, the very vocal minority insisting that people are having fun the wrong way. If you like arbitrary gamepadding grind that’s great but a lot of us don’t so why do you people feel the need to come into every single thread and say ā€œthe game is fineā€. Make a thread of your own praising the progression system.

Fully agree on this one. @MangoSeasons Note that some ppl are playing more/all classes. It is a grind. The fact that mats, currencies, items (non-class specific) and even weeklies are not shared, makes progression on both lvls and items tedious and slow.

@MangoSeasons I first thought this way as well at first and defendet the game for doing so.

I like long time engaging games like borderlands for example where it doesn“t really matter wich level you are in the end to have a lot of fun.
Also (i know way over the top) you have a lot“s of weapons to test out and play with.

But this was in pre-order beta where normally as dev you test things out.
So i made the mistake to think the systems where i place to get data for a better game.

At this time i just did not see (or ignored) this is all about MTX in the end.
