Possible changes to the paid cosmetic shop

While this is something that is very much at one of the lowest priorities fatshark should have on their minds, some changes that would benefit the playerbase would be nice.

At the current moment there are well over hundreds of paid cosmetics spread across each class each having 3 pages of items, and it takes a abysmally long time for it to rotate out all the current items taking 2 weeks for one page to get rotated out if I recall and 6 in total for a whole new shop, this with no real set pattern or rotation to go off of makes getting some cosmetics (scion helm for example had to wait 6 months to get it) a pain to get.

I propose the Cosmetic shop being more of a method to highlight miscellaneous cosmetics and showcase new bundles like how they have been doing so currently, but with the sub menu for the cosmetics we have/can earn be a catalog of all that class’s available cosmetics with the choice to preview combinations and buy them on our own time, the rotating store could be used as a way to promote sales on some items for a little encouragement to check it out every now and then.

(Example possible by the Character Cosmetics View Improved mod)
As I said at the start this is very much something far down on the priority list that fatshark should think about working on but I feel this would help a part of the community that enjoys the wealth of cosmetics the game has to offer.

Wait you want PRODUCTS AVAILABLE ON the shop’s shelves? Customer CHOICE?! What kind of a capitalistic heresy is that? Sweden is a communist utopia!

I paid $5.29 in July 2024 for a few premium cosmetics, and again last November 2023 for the same amount. I spent about $25 before that time frame - mostly on a few early bundles when the value felt MUCH better than today.

I think that’s one of the big rubs for people that have been playing since the start: the cost of cosmetics keeps going up and you get even less on top of it. Hard to feel like buying anything when (a) what I want to buy is not up for purchase and (b) I feel like I’m being fleeced.

I think QoL UI and menu improvements should be prioritized over cosmetics personally - BUT if there was a rework to cosmetics like people have suggested (separate models and textures, let us mix and match on our own, etc) that would probably entice me to buy things more often. As it is - just not worth it.

God I would love to have the option to choose our own colorations and camos, there are so many setups that look great together from a model standpoint but either have different camos or colors that make them look off.

Given that it’s money in the door, I’d expect it to be higher than the bottom of the priority list. Unless the whales are doing some seriously heavy lifting idk :woman_shrugging:

I would buy so much if we got Catalogue-like store instead of FOMO. As it is right now, my hype will be long gone after itemization update before “rotation” will hit every cosmetic I want to buy.

Also that store rotates way too slow… give us freaking catalogue fatshark. I want to give you money and you just don’t want it.

Very true. If you want that bs, go and stay at IKEA. Capitalist pigs amiright?

Lol just realized, bro remade his account and remade the post to include some reasonable suggestions instead of asking for free skins or a big discount on the next order.

Dont know how you got to that conclusion but ok

Same skin in question, new account. Basically made a new account just to talk about the premium store. Again.

Wild coincidence then

You know what a wild coincidence rly is? Jet fuel not being able to melt steal beams. This is just obvious.

Keep believing what you want then dude

Sure. I just hope to not see ridiculous requests ykyk.

Ignore the troll y’all.

I am quite happy with the new update and wanted to buy a skin to reward Fat shark for making the game better, but I can’t find the Pious Vorne lookalike skin, or the 3 others I’d consider, in the shop because of the ridiculous catalogue system. I get the feeling that even if the ones I’d actually want come back their price will have increased and that would honestly put me off buying (I was actually considering the new Steel Legion Vet skin but the price increase put me off).

tldr Fatshark, if you let me buy the cosmetics I actually want and for a reasonable price I will spend more than the €0 I’ve spent so far in your MTX store.

Forget it, I think I purchased 7000 “Aquilas” at the end of July. Call it a thank you payment, I couldn’t care less about cosmetics, and showing off “drip”. FOMO and whaling are comical to me.

So far I only managed to spend 2100, that is one set of cosmetics for Ogryn. It has been TWO months.

Sure, Fatshark couldn’t care less, as they already have my money, and I cannot covert “Aquilas” back to a real currency.

However what it shows to me is a massive untapped potential for RMT cosmetic sales. I won’t tire of repeating this, THIS IS literally the Fatshark shop experience @FatsharkStrawHat.

If I had to rate the cosmetic shop experience:

  • Ability to tap into the RMT market? 2/10
  • A socialist shopping experience cosplay 10/10

I don’t get the communism allegation because artificial scarcity is a characteristic of really-existing capitalism. The genuine scarcity of “Marxist-Leninist”, state capitalisms with command economies like the Soviet Union was primarily due to mismanagement, corruption, and technological limitations resulting in an actual scarcity of material goods, meaning people’s material needs were not being met (compared with the market-based but also “communist” Yugoslavia which did not see similar shortages).

Fatshark pays a Chinese company to make an infinitely replicable digital good and then assigns a price for it that they think people will pay for. This may or may not be related to the fee Fatshark was charged to have the files made. That price is likely set high to imply “quality” like material luxury goods. The cosmetics are then restricted from purchase with the rotating shop to increase FOMO and prey (deliberately or accidentally) on neuro-divergent people who may have poor impulse control.

In other words, classic capitalist motivations to extract as much profit from a product as possible

You don’t have to, empty shop shelves don’t make for good business. Simple as that.
