When has Fatshark ever ‘pumped out’ content for any of their games? They’ve always had an glacially slow development cycle for everything.
I strongly believe they should do a soft release 2.0 with xbox version. Huge QoL changes (imagine console players will reroll perks without mod, kek), significant content drop, a lot of crafting/locks changes, some marketing pushing idea that it’s a project relaunch indeed. If DT in its current state will be released on xbox than the game is doomed.
i agree fully, but then again, 6 months for even the smallest acknowledgment that a problem exists, doubt they have been hustling to meet all the expectations they created pre launch and fix all the problems encountered during its live time…
Yeah don’t take what i’ve said too literally. I’m not expecting honestly more than maybe 2-3 dlcs a year max even after console version is done. And after maybe 2-3 dlcs we are back to occasional content maybe once a year while they are developing their next tide game.
Even at their full strenght i don’t expect them to deliver any sort of “live service”.
I want this game to do well, but I’d be a fool to answer any of the polls in a positive light.
Wasn’t there some mention of starting the “live service” again a month ago? When exactly are we expecting any sort of service? The game feels like it hasn’t changed since launch.
Yeah, nothing really changed since you stopped visiting (or at least posting). Doesn’t seem like any larger portion of the player base has returned either.
I can respect that and I probably would’ve kept playing if I didn’t have such a strong feeling of déjà vu and I did burn myself out on VT2 twice despite enjoying it immensely. I’ll save any playtime for a possible future where the game is in a somewhat more enjoyable state, and if that doesn’t happen I’ll just spend my time elsewhere.
What I meant is more “yes” and “no” is too broad a response. Personally, I try to rely on intuition as little as possible. I can be aware of how how I truly feel without the answer being just a “yes” or “no”.
Example; “Do you want a pet? Yes or no?”
Well, what kind of pet? How old is it? How big is it? How much does it cost? Am I allergic? What’s the difficulty on training it? Are they from a shelter or have issues? I may like them for certain things. But I am lazy and don’t want to have to pick up poop. Do they shed a lot? Constantly or seasonally? Etc. Yes/no just isn’t appropriate. Although I still think Muntjac deer are the most ideal legal pets.
Confident in Darktide’s future?
Maybe. Depends on how much they’re willing to change systemic issues and what their content release cycle will look like. If you asked me before the last community update I would have been 95% no. But now I am like 60% no.
Do I think it’s improved in a significant way?
It’s gotten some new stuff and fixes and I don’t want to neglect that, but “significant” is a key word and since launch I wouldn’t say any of it is significant (for me). It is in a better place, just not significantly.
Do I think community feedback has been addressed?
Not all of it. Very recently some has. But it’s months late. And they still won’t comment on something as simple as “shirtless”. For transparency, I don’t think I would use it, but it’s such a simple ask to officially allow the bug.
Fatshark being honest?
Doesn’t feel like it, with things like “the store being too confusing with 3 tabs” but then again someone literally posted in the forums saying they couldn’t find the rest of the premium cosmetics. But it’s hard to really prove whether they’re lying or not.
Working on the changes we asked for
Some, maybe? They said they’re looking at some recent changes to crafting and mission select. Unknown on other changes since there’s been no word, without the transparency or communication it’s just a void.
I’ve gotten a lot of enjoyment out of Darktide, over 1,700 hours. I’ve experienced everything the game has to offer, and I feel that I’ve more than got my money’s worth.
That said, gaming (for me) has always been about spending time with my friends, who have all moved on from Darktide. There are a lot of reasons for this (e.g., no end-game to speak of, lack of content, lack of build customization compared to VT2, etc.), none of which I see being resolved anytime in the near future.
We’ve been playing a new game for the last couple of weeks, and enjoying our time there, which is what it’s all about.
I would like to see Fatshark and the 'tide series succeed, but us, it was just too little, too late (hell, we’re still waiting on Sienna’s last class…).
Those polls look rough )=
I am hopeful, but cautious.
Talks of rebalancing blessings and weapons when the core issues with crafting have not been addressed is a recipe for disaster. Imagine playing for 1000 hours to get the perfect shredder autogun, and it gets nerfed into being worthless. It would be demoralizing.
They need to be careful, I’m worried they won’t be.
I fully expect them to release a patch that manages to contain balance changes that drives away a significant portion of players, and also bugs that make the game unplayable/unpalatable for another big portion of players - and then go on vacation and leave the game as-is for two months. Nothing that FatShark has said or produced concerning this game indicates competency at any level of the company.
I find it hard to vote on those polls since my answers mostly land in between the two options. The game has made SOME progress, but most (non-content) additions feel more like patchwork than actual fixes. I don’t doubt that the game will keep “improving” for a while, but I now have zero faith in the game becoming what I hoped it would be. Too much needs to be redone instead of tweaked.
It’s the best 40k game ever made and in my top 5 games of all time.
tbf that ain’t saying too much
The majority of updates and bug fixes implemented in the game do not align with the specific requests of the player community; the few times they do, it takes a major amount of buzz like with the cash shop, and even then, it’s not always satisfactory. While some improvements have pleasantly surprised us, it is evident that the deciding body on what is to be released or fixed doesn’t place a high value on the community’s desires.
There’s a palpable sense that a concentrated group of individuals wields a significant influence over the game’s vision and creative direction. This concentrated control potentially stifles the incorporation of players’ genuine wishes into the game’s development.
I can’t say yes or no at all of the questions, but ill try…
-
No, i am not confidents. V2 had rought sides and had good changes. But i think DT had much deeper problems that im not sure goin to be fixed. Speed of new content is horrible, it could be way less bad if game already had alot of content, but nope 5 levels and 4 characters enjoy.
-
Not at all. Only stability got way beter and some QoL changes, but game as annoying as it was.
-
Noted? Yes. Are they doin something? Maybe thinking on some, but definetly not at all begs.
-
Ofcource no, cause were dealing with busines company not a single dude. One man can say, that he screwed up and he’ll rework his stuff, but company never.
-
Is this same question as number 3? I feel its same. And as i said they thinkin, but definetly not workin on them. If they work at everything we ask, it will be easier to make DT2, than reworkin already existing game.
Changin 50% of the game code(Not literaly) is huge loss in money/time and resourses, only one time we had something like that, that was No man’s sky. They never do huge changes, cause they definetly don’t want to go close to go bancrupt.
Should we care for them loosin job’s and company trying to rework whole game o n the other side? Ofc course not, we are consumers who paid our money we worked on, and we deserve to wish for good game, with alot of content and no annoying mechanics. But our wants won’t change anything.
The systemic issues with the game have just been ignored for too long. I can forgive launching in a poor state if the developer acknowledges it and then works to improve the game quickly while working with the community closely. That kind of action shows that the developer cares.
But FT has actively done the opposite. They know what the community is looking for, but choose to ignore them entirely, that’s a pretty big red flag. They can’t even put out a tentative road map, the absolute bare minimum for community engagement. The total deafness from FS and lack of any agency do not bode well for the future outlook of the game.
Hard to be optimistic given the last several months.
Imho, the console port is another short-term scheme to profit from a fresh unsuspecting player base. I think it’s unlikely we’ll see much of an improvement after console port is released.
Whilst they are working on Xbox port or new content. They really do need to something immediate about player count. The only quick solution is to drop the pricing to at least half.
If they can’t even do something as simple as removing the locks then there is no hope for Darktide. Removing the locks should be the primary focus for them.
