I always thought the game needed a halberd storm vermin equivalent, light armor big long weapon type of thing, dreg mauler would fit that nicely
There’s even concept art that could’ve been meant for that
From here which has some more dreg stuff
All of the above because why not!
Hel yeah! I’m just doing a Poll to get an… overall consensus on what the Forum favourite might be
I didn’t include Dreg Captains since they’d only be included in Assassination missions.
I had to look up the difference between dregs and scabs
Id initially voted dreg psyker, looked it up, then cursed myself!
Essentially;
Dreg Rogue Psykers = Nurglite Witches
Scab Rogue Psykers = Rogue Battle-Psykers
For anyone torn between those two decisions
An armoured psyker sounds 'orrible!
May the emprah save my soul for even considering it in ignorance.
Crush 'em like me rashun packs, sah.
A tin can you open that tastes like pus
Probably tastes about as bad as corpse starch.
Mmm… maybe just a little taste?
A kind of psyker boss could be interesting, but I’d not want to see one as a special/elite that spawns repeatedly throughout missions.
Speaking of, it would also be nice to see some literal boss/officer types make appearances during missions in place of monsters on occasion. Seems like an economic choice, aka, easy to implement while still adding some value.
I’d like to see the Dreg faction fleshed out. The fact that there’s a Maelstrom condition right now with them as the focused faction feels really incomplete without borrowing. Looking at clues in the game I have no other candidate but Plaguebearers. Like, as middle tier hordelings and elite fodder. Where they be. Dreg Greatweapons are also in the art but not in game.
And with all the tox thing lately I’m not going to be surprised when they add tox ogryn in soon. Tox gas (Karnack twins) then the gas bomber and condition. Just need to add Braphog the Flatulent to the game for an Ogryn boss that doesn’t get butchered by a Zealot on the spot while he’s dodging a dozen elites that can do real damage.
Minor daemons.
Oof, I really should’ve had a longer list! I can’t edit it after 5 minutes though
i chose other.
i think fatshark should create a type of mob that is both horrifying and terrifying. something that evokes a deep primal fear in the player. something like the witch from left 4 dead or the labyrinth sage from bloodborne.
something that makes players feel like gross, horrified and uncomfortable followed by pure terror after. something thats less about a combat challenge and more solely to scare players while still offering a challenge.
something that moans and cries and screams, something even the heretics avoid. the 40k universe is filled with awfully horrifying things and i think tapping into it would bring alot to matches and atmosphere.
Some Amnesia: The Bunker kinda stuff going on in Lights Out with that one.
Very spoopy. Reminds me of a nightmare that I had recently!
It’ll have to be unkillable/near unkillable or killable but L4D-witch-running-at-you levels of dangerous for the simple fact that we can fight back, and both methods have a very, very thin line between terrifying and annoying.
I think, in order for it to be TRULY terrifying, it should be an “objective” instead of an “enemy”, per se. Bear with me on this one.
A defence version of a Repair mission where you have to maintain some sort of Mechanicus technology while heretics assault your position… pretty standard, right? In the middle of the heretic assault, the lights go out and the heretics stop coming, their screams echoing from outside of the pitch-black AO… then silence. The lights suddenly return after around 10 seconds of your team being completely in the dark… the silence is absolutely deafening. A rare encounter has occured. Your Announcer tasks you with scouting out the disturbance, pledging to send another team that’ll come guard the Mechanicus technology while your team takes point. As ordered, you all take some flashlights and leave the AO to scout out this disturbance and this leads you past mountains of heretic corpses. Blood and offal is everywhere. As you take point, you notice that a small number of the heretic bodies have been “toyed with”, not remaining in the position of their deaths. Posed, one could say. You advance even deeper and your teammates will become gradually quieter as you gather resources and search for whoever, or whatever, did this. Throughout your scouting you will hear moans, cries and screams… but they are not those of a heretic, they don’t even sound human. Your ammo will be scarce, and every individual choice that you make, whether or not as a team, will have a huge consequence for everyone involved. Good luck, Rejects.
From there, you guys can decide on what the team will actually run into
What’d you guys think? @Nicksalot @zaygr
A set piece is a good idea, but I don’t think it should be a static mission objective, because then it’s tied to the mission and it’ll be predictable.
I know they don’t have random secondary objectives outside of books but they could do it similarly to a daemonhost’s random spawn but have it block off map progress until its done. That will unfortunately need to have Fatshark implement something that can block off map, like additional doors, or existing buttons that don’t work near it or something similar.
