Honestly, we shouldn’t get a Darktide 2, a new 40k Tide sure, but not tied to Darktide itself
Genestealers cults are the human hybrids. Actual purestrain genestealers are the infiltration units with the scary claws.
There’re a lot of types of Tyranids. They have various types of swarm fodder, from Rippers that are about ankle height, gaunts that are about waist height with melee and ranged variants, flying variants called gargoyles, those are the bulk of any non-genestealer Tyranid force. The elites do start getting scarier, but the majority of them are Warriors which you could describe as bigger gaunts (probably a bit bigger than genestealers) that are better armed or support organisms like biovores (spore mine launchers) or pyrovores (flamethrowers). The hive tyrant commanding all of them would be a proper boss at least, carnifexes would probably be the true monstrosities.
It’s entirely possible for the incursion to be relatively small, since as I said, in the fiction there are Tyranid remnants all over the place that are survivors from larger hive fleet scale attempted invasions.
But, as I said, I don’t care if it’s tyranids or not, just providing more info.
What I want the most is the party team up function back and working. Then I’ll consider the game “finished”.
Then next yeah Levels, classes, enemies , weapons lets go.
A single traitor Astartes as a bossfight could be FANTASTIC.
I’m currently playing Everspace 2, a game full of content, zero crashes, and that has free cosmetics.
People need to stop chilling for cash shops.
This is NOT a freenium game.
Would make no sense since a party of 4 rejects wouldn’t last 1 second against Astartes.
Here we go again…
Maybe if we surprised the Plague Marine while he was out of his Suit in the ?shower?(lol), and we stole his weapons and Power Armor, so he has to fight us with his fists.
Spacehulk combat kinda sucks though, DT would do Tyranid combat way better. I’d love Tyranid enemies. Actual nyds though, not genestealers. They’re too goofy looking to take seriously.
I’ve been playing Aliens: Fireteam Elite recently since it’s in this month’s Humble Choice. Captures the atmosphere and setting well, interesting design choices (itemisation, class progression), just as many questionable ones (lack of more dynamic enemies, implementation of P2P). But overall it’s not quite as frustrating as DT can be.
New enemy faction would be boring to me, because Chaos has too much to offer (as long as GW doesn’t get in its own way).
They would look different but the devs would make the same setup of horde, infantry, elite, special of equal stats to the rest of the cast. And they would never appear with the Chaos faction so double boring. Or get the same treatment as the Beastmen where they were introduced overtuned so people would just leave maps with Beastmen spawns.
Reject new faction cries, demand more better Chaos enemies.
Maybe if they weren’t overpriced, based on a predatory/stupid practice of premium currency, and were the only real cosmetics available? Also that free content is sure going great right about now huh.
Hard disagree there, maybe the old Genestealer models are a bit goofy but I think they’re creepy, at least in dark environments and with good enough renders
Could introduce new factions inside of Chaos, not unheard of for Chaos cults to work alongside each others, if only before backstabbing each other when they have more leeway
Maybe, but we are not as intelligent, strong and fast as an Astartes.
They would smear us to paste in their birthday suit.
Ogryn might stand a chance but unfortunately they are not as fast not intelligent.
You can narratively shift to a different chaos god pretty well with the basic enemy type template they have.
Tzeentch - Tricks on the eyes and other visual effects
Terrors - Possessed and Warped
Ranged - low grade sorcerer cultists
Melee - Displacing melee sorcerers
Disabler - Something similar to leech witches
Specialist - A sorcerer that casts bolts of change
Slaanesh - A degree of resileince and noisy.
Terrors - Drugged civilians
Ranged - Pleasure cultists
Melee - Gimps
Disabler - Packmaster analogue with whips
Specialist - Sorceror that inflicts life link
Khorne - Faster and more aggressive
Terrors - Drugged civilians but with aggressive combat drugs like Onslaught
Ranged - Bloodpact
Melee - Warrior Cults
Disabler - Something like a charger but it punts you back a distance rather than disable.
Specialist - Apostate of Khorne that buffs its allies around it (it has to actively proselytise to give the buff)
Comment was aimed at those asking for nyds and orks and necrons and eldar and tau and leagues of votann and principality of zeon
Chaos has too much to offer.
I mean I like the Genestealer Cults, i think they’re the coolest faction and criminally underrepresented. But if you load into a map with them, that’s all you’re getting, you’ll never see them fight with nurgle cultists because that wouldn’t make sense and their units would fill the same archetypes so they wouldn’t provide much difference in game play.
Why go for a whole new faction when there is barely a fraction of the current enemy’s possible roster present?
And Horrors as Ogryn rarity enemies, ranged bombardier (Red) and melee shanker (Blue)
Monster wise, a Flamer of Tzeentch
Nice idea but he would kill us all in no time and he would probably have to be a plague marine to fit the rest of the setting I just cant imagine us beating that.
Maybe if we had a multi laser turret nearby or our pilot strafed him a bit first with the drop ships guns. Even then he would probably just get back up and kill us all.
He cant take his suit off even in the shower
yeh true lol.
This game needs incentive, reason to play, things to work towards.
Like the outfits in VT2 for completing all missions on a specific difficulty.
Darktide is lacking in things that make people want to play outside of the gameplay itself being fun.
