POLL : how many mods are you actually using?

Little trick for the scoreboard, AnimationEvents is only really used for the “enemies staggered” count I think. I got rid of it and kept using the scoreboard and I’m getting less stuttering ingame. Might be placebo but I don’t miss it.

I run True Level and Scoreboard. Both are helpful.

Literally, 40+ & still going with new ones being added. Hard not to add them when they’re quality of life changing.

Good tip. I’ll be getting rid of that.

I’ve got 87 on my mod list but a lot of them are deprecated and just commented out. The cheatiest one I have in use is probably healthbars which I admittedly used way back when but weaned myself off of it and now just use it to for the side features where it helps with showing multiple and color codes the healthbar to monster type.

The only other one that “cheats” would be weapon customization. But I am utterly unapologetic about that one.

Exactly how are they “cheats.” Where do you draw the line at? Explain. When Fatshark doesn’t add certain things which I think at base game should’ve honestly. There are tons of mods that should be here that people have pointed out before me. For example; Numeric UI. This information is pretty vital. This allows me to tell what their ammo capacity is at or health. Strategically, this can make me decide on whether or not to perform certain actions in game. Now, I admit some can be on the borderline of “cheaty.” Like, the mod that performs the puzzles for you. You can make an argument against that. But I feel you’re being too vague this almost sounds like a console player would say this kind of stuff out of seer jealousy lol.

And thus a nice little poll about the “Number of Mods used”,
turned into a 100 page Sermon on the “Cheatiness of Mods”…

Used to be 100 or so, then pruned it when unlocked & loaded came out so it’s now at 47, in part because of performance reasons.

I’ll give that a try, thanks

They should of implemented showing team ammo display at this point now.

  • No one going to have a conversation during battle about what ammo who has left and start deciding.
  • Not everyone speaks/read same language to do so.
  • Darktide has concept of sharing, letting others take ammo, deciding when to deploy ammo kit.

If the concept of ammo sharing is there, then we need to know quickly how much ammo everyone has left. NumericUI isn’t considered a cheat mod, so might as well integrate natively.

The red indicator showing low ammo is too vague, depending on the weapon it could be such a varied number.

You usually wait until whole team is low on ammo to maximise ammo kit use. But times I have deployed for one person if situation calls for it i.e. For Heavy bolter user if monstrosity causing too much to handle normally.

What I use:

  • true_level
  • NumericUI
  • hub_hotkey_menus
  • StimmsPickupIcon
  • who_are_you
  • scoreboard

hub_hotkey_menus is my favourite. No more running around mourning star. Just assign F keys to get into any terminal.

Not a single one so far, but I’ve seen a few mods that seem like great QoL to the game and wouldn’t mind if they added them as an option in the base game.

very much this, about as many mods since there are so many little QoL mods that add up. health bars cluttered the view too much. and weapon customization should be in the game, too bad it was canned.

I wonder how far apart the mean and the median would be for the number of mods used per mod user.

Also while im here.
@gpkgpk I guess you were right, or more like even you were wrong since apparently more then 10 mods seems to be the average… Which is honestly extremely surprising since i didnt even think there would be more then 10 mods on nexus that are worth downloading.

Anyway, i am defeat, i’ll go take my place.

Seems like I use around 11, but I could easily reduce that tbh.

  • Numeric UI, how is this not default in the game? It’s ridiculous, especially with how wildly the colors used for “current ammo” varies - and you can’t even see your own max ammo count without the mod. Fatshark what’s wrong with you? It’s like you want people to grief others
  • TalentRefundBelow, just makes tweaking builds much less annoying
  • Less Annoying Ping, whoever convinced veterans to spam ping needs to be banned from having opinions again.
  • Stimms Pickup Icon, why are the stimms not color coded in the UI to begin with? Without this mod I can barely tell what stimm I’m carrying or what others have
  • Scoreboard, I like seeing my own and others performance. The lack of a proper scoreboard at the end of a mission is just weird. Worked just fine in Vermintide.
  • Hub Hot Keys, I don’t mind running around in the hub occasionally, but it gets old fast when there’s several things you want to do
  • ChatBlock, if you’re not big on speaking on voice, and you need to quickly tell your team mates something, this feels like a must-have - and again, this is implemented in Vermintide 2, so why doesn’t Darktide have it by default??
  • True Level, I like seeing how experienced people are and helps with knowing who you might have to keep an eye on to help though there’s always exceptions.
  • Guarantee Weapon Swap, so many times I’ve been bonked and gone down because the game wouldn’t let me swap to my melee

Pretty much all I use is QoL, that I earnestly think Fatshark should have had implemented from day 1.
Edit: I see people are using Animation Events, if you’re only using it because of Scoreboard and you don’t care to see how many enemies got staggered, you can safely remove it while improving the game performance.

After close to 300 hours, I really don’t care about the puzzles anymore. Been there done that. Cheat ones like the tree and decode helpers are actually increasing my enjoyment of the game by eliminating those chores. As for the autoquell, let’s hope FS fixes the Warp Unbound electro staff bug.

I think I’m probably in the 20’s when it comes to mods. I don’t think I could go on as much as I have without True Level. As much as I enjoy the gameplay I also enjoy setting level goals which motivate my desire to play more often. I’m nearing 1.6k hours now.
