It’s the same. Nerf players, make enemies stronger. Why increase health of all enemies and buff every other weapon and talent when you only wanted to nerf one talent or weapon? It’s a waste of time for the sake of optics.
That’s true if you don’t take into the account the review bombing. You may not care about it at all, but FatShark does. They really care about the numbers Darktide has on Steam…
They care so much, in fact, that they’ll can be bullied into inaction on glaring balance issues. You just need a sizeable group of people willing to take time out of their own day to sit down and start typing like crazy…
At this point it is better to just remove HS and Psycker for the health of the game. Before other classes can trigger their talents HS and psycker are already in the next room.
Yeah played auric for a change because I only had 15min. Three ogrins plus me on Psyker and I was constantly one room ahead. Didn’t even get a GG on game end, well wouldn’t have given me one as well.
Ok, maybe this is my common sense from MMOs coming through… but isn’t that 100% your fault and not the class specifically? Like, yes, Psyker is OP and made it easier for you to be 1-room ahead, but you actively noticed this and made no effort to work with your team anyway. Not only would I have no given you a GG, but I’ve intentionally let players like you die in MMOs by either not pulling aggro off them when they try to dictate how large my pulls are or not healing them if they try to dictate how large the tanks pulls are when I’m healing. In a Tide game, I’d just hang back and let you struggle as a 1-man army and when you’re inevitably downed by an unlucky circumstance, well… “It seemed like you didn’t need help considering you chose to play a team-based game solo. You can revive yourself, right?”
Nah bad changes is waht is killing Darktide, like the boring Expedition mode. For me and im sure fro many of the long term players Havoc is one of the things that keep us playing. It just needs to be constantly improved.
darktide isn’t a “team based” game given how powerful currently simple abilities are.
it’s multiplayer with audience as in “step aside and watch me do better” and needs a solo mode akin to space marine 2 at this point more than ever.
a team is only present with a premade of known and liked people, randos are what’s making the clapping and laughing noise in a 90s sitcom basically.
they’re there to fill the room.
aint the players fault fatshark given them nuke-on-demand abilities, no ones forcing me though to put up with it instead of racing them to the finish line.
“help” apart from a net or dog is hardly needed most of the time anyway.
besides, in early days I liked darktides skill based approach. I hate mmo’s with a passion for it gives people artificial abilities to make up for lack of mechanical ones.
back then a good vet or zealot earned respect clearing rooms in damnation when the rest was lollygagging 2 behind.
now it’s a “insert cheapshit of the month” thinks he’s something and it’s not really motivating rather than irritating and wishing one could switch the wannabe just off like in other games.
either a premade already off the grid or an empty lobby when everyone has his 40-herrenrasse tag back and playing other modes.
havoc with randos is a pain in the proverbial A.S.S
While it 100% needs a solo-mode, the design intent is “team-based coop.” The balance being bad enough to allow one OP class to ruin it for the others doesn’t change that you still have the power to let them run off on their own. Half these players only survive because the “audience” desperately tries to keep up, which takes some of the pressure off the “performer.” If the audience doesn’t participate, the performer will flounder, get pissed, and rage quit. I’ve seen it happen time and time again across many PUG based multiplayer games. Will some be good enough to carry a party that’s hanging back? Sure. But most won’t since they just follow the FotM meta build and when they can’t actually use it without support they’ll blame anyone and anything but themselves.
So, the next time someone Rambo’s off on their own, let them and try to get the other two party members to hang back with you. Worst case scenario, you have a boring easy run. Best case scenario Rambo dies and you can do a 3-man while they seethe and rage about how “useless” their “teammates” are.
I mean this is what justifies it being a team based game
It’s how L4D started it, by adding specials that once they grabbed a player, they would never let go
This is how you enforce coop
And while yes ofc very experienced players will be able to solo it, it’s for the average player that they’ll need a team since they won’t avoid every single disabler
I play with randoms, i got only 1 friend who plays DT so we alwys play Havoc with 2 random players. Yes the quality of players varies greatly from prima donna racers, through ragequitters and poeple you dont understand how they got to that level, but its still the mainstay of my weekends. If Havoc wasnt here, i would prolly get bored with playing Aurics only at this point and we would have gone to another coop game.
truth be told im here for the 40k-quake rather than the multiplayer.
if hired gun would be made with this graphics or id software got the license and do their magic, we wouldn’t have this conversation in the first place.
shame space marine 2 is third person
such a small step towards adding customized bots as people replacement and the game would run 24/7
lately I’m hitting “tilt” far earlier due to expeditions than my usual auric maelstrom carries
don’t get me started on havoc, I dont negotiate with heretics
empiric evidence shows expeditions going smoothly with 2 bots, within the limit of their intelligence. as soon as they get replaced by players, they develop consciousness and run off.
I used to hate 3rd person, but man, 150+ hours in Outriders has really converted me. Done well, 3rd Person can be a blast. But I still wouldn’t play Tide-style games in anything but first person. I feel like 3rd person is heavily game dependent where 1st Person just works 90% of the time lol.
