I have mixed feelings about voidstrike also, it deals too well with elites and some specials.
Well, sure. To be fair, peril does have its own penalty (getting downed) and downtime (quelling), but I’ll grant you that the degree to which those are relevant is arguable, especially with Transfer Peril/Battle Meditation in the mix.
The ogryn stuff is in no small part driven by ridiculous amounts of rending from Dominate and Hail of Fire. Obviously the rumbler was buffed too, but the effects of Dominate in particular can be felt across all ogryn weapons now and allow for some genuinely silly results.
Fatshark will have to make a lot of players unhappy if they want to reign in the madness…
And what i supposed to do with the others? Kick em?
What’s will be the diffrerence for overperforming weapons/abilities? They just will be better than the rest still.
How is it so hard concept, that in coop game, where people spending there time equaly they all should have fun in killing mobs, not only one guy in the run.
And when i say fun, i mean there are math behind, numbers, scoarboard different metrics for perfomance, so you can judge how mobkilling is spread between 4 players durin run.
Not just “i want to be that one guy cause i think it’s fun even if it’s not for the rest of the team”. Your subjective opinion could be whatever you want.
But numbers just don’t lie.
It’s a very specific interaction between having Surge, having the talent that grants you 100% crits after 5 weakspot hits and damage maxxing everything else.
Yes, it’s very powerful right now. Maybe some slight damage nerf is in order. But I feel it’s something new from everyone running around with Autopistol.
Right now you can make very strong Psykers with many combinations. But you can also make very strong Zealots, Vets and Ogryn. People give the Psyker more because he is flashier and has more burst damage in crowds.
People tend to focus on that a lot in gaming.
I generally agree with your core message, but I have to interject.
Numbers can a lie an awful lot.
Especially the scoreboard mod.
The player who is usually first to the fray gets the highest damage number.
The player who stays up the longest and clutches also gets the highest damage number.
The player who looks for P L A S T E E L the most will usually get the best teamscore despite running behind everyone.
Some interactions with the scoreboard are also bugged and it doesn’t show the full match, only from the point onward where you came in.
Taking the Scoreboard mod as an evidence gathering tool is unreliable to the highest degree, even more so than it was in Vermintide. And there it was already inaccurate, due to skill levels being the defining factor above all else.
On the topic of the Bolter - It is not and never was OP. This reminds me to the flamethrower complaints when it was always coupled with strong downsides, too.
Bolter Vets had a short few seconds to shine and then they were stuck reloading or being out of ammo. But that circles us back to burst damage being overvalued. People just don’t factor the importance of sustainability in enough. The many videos of “I did thing in Psykarium hence it is broken” are the best evidence for this behavior. Taking an isolated environment you’d never get ingame and then making a judgement call on a build’s strength or weakness based on that alone.
Matches are between 20-45 mins, depending on speed. If you have the best damage but no sustain, you win a clown and get sent to the Game Over screen regardless.
This is why the Bolter was always in line. It had zero sustain, even when ammo wasn’t a scarce resource.
Imagine XD
I’m honestly not sure why the changed voidstrike at all, it was always the most powerful and versatile staff in my experience because it had high damage, pinpoint accuracy and unlimited range unlike all other staves.
It’s even more of a king now because it doesn’t care about armour, which also makes surge staff even less relevant.
Dude, are you upset, that you can kill elite with two charges of voidstrike now???
Any other weapon do this 2x faster and with less peril.
To be fair Bolter was in the top 5 weapons for Vet (K12, Braced, Autopistol, Helbore were the others).
That said Bolter Vet was very good but not as OP people made it out to be.
AB psyker had more damage output, Ogryn (BB + Ripper) had more damage output and was (a lot) safer, and Zealot (Caxe + Braced) could do the fastest runs.
The community had a really warped view of where it was.
To be fair we did T5 High-Int double grim runs in under 20 minutes with my wife running 2 Zealots me with Bolter she with Flamer after the flamer nerfs.
That was the most broken combo we came up with.
Outside of bosses I can kill literally every enemy in the game with ONE charge now. It’s literally one of the most, if not THE most versatile weapon in the game. Saying it’s useless in most cases can only mean you’re drunk, and should go home.
With ONE in the weakspot… with travel time… with charge time… and peril…
Sounds good, doesn’t work.
If you don’t want to keep such “power” in your hands, guess what you can do? Yeah, you can gfys.
Or play with other weapon.
Are you actually drunk? That’d explain why these things are a problem for you, I guess…
Maybe nerf Purgatus as well then? Too good to clear hordes!
NERF!!!
“Make all weapons trash so I could flex how skilled am I with stuff I like”.
And show me how good you are landing those weakspot shots in a room full of infested enemies and you standing there, charging your “overpowered” shot to throw it right in the ogryns mouth…
You kan joke about “drunk” again. It was such a success first time, make sure you remember this joke for any situation for the rest of your life.
You’re an angry drunk. You shouldn’t game angry, it just makes you worse at the game. Gaming drunk is ok, but you’re never going to hit those precision shots.
You land the weakpoint hit because the orb is like 3 xboxes wide, prioritizes heads and flies down the middle of the crosshair every time. The thing is so dumbly overtuned you don’t even need full charge shots to do it anymore (why fat shark).
Also why is this boss bullying OK, but slapping chaos spawns with brunt clubs had to be removed? That better be coming back in an update.
What is your problem with voidstrike being effective against… enemies?
Is this somehow spoils your game?
How?
Do not tell me you don’t feel challenge.
And btw there are more effective ways to destroy crowds of elites in this game, should they be nerfed too? To wich point?
There is one golden rule that can help you guys - don’t like it, don’t use it.
this doesn’t help when the probleme is that assail+voidstrike psyker can kill everything faster than most. Even if we don’t use it, when playing with one feel like walking on empty room after him then the game feel stale.
I love the voidstrike but he clearly didn’t need the buff. No weapon have the damage output against every type of ennemy whil style having range, great crowdcontrol and generate near to no peril with the good blessing.
I would say that for me the keystone buffing the blitz is still the main problem with psyker, making assail too powerfull, bugged with smite etc…
Do you have similar problems with plasmagun?
Or with bolter?
Or purgatis?
I think there is roles in this game. So choosing voidstrike you become more vulnerable to the crowd. Yes, I know voidstrike can deal with crowds, but not as effective when you are surrounded. In the corridor ofc, but not when it really matters.
You’ve made a poor choice of hills to die on, my drunk friend.
No, I have a problem when things get crazy overbuffed simply for being a low pick rate item, despite the developers already giving those tons of positive notes. Void Strike was already very strong before, destroying horde/standard shooters and staggering elites and also bosses. Dunno why it needs all this killing power too.
Like the shovel, always had more outstanding crowd control than a club, better elite killing than a knife and the rare ability to stagger monsters. For some reason it has cleave damage and distribution like old Catachan sword now, and its stronger on Maniacs too.
It was totally functioning fine to the point I would carry more lobbies with it than with the knife, because of its interaction with bosses, and then it gets crazy over buffed to where I pick fights with Daemons as Ogg and win.
with plasma or bolter you have to deal with far more downtime than voidstrike and no crowd killing ability unless you don’t mind running out of ammo.
with purgatus you have no range and if I remember really low armored damages.
voidstrike is still among the best range weapons to deal with a crowd but also has fast shooting option if needed and great damage against anything else.
