Yeah, so the reason is to mark the specials in mixed hordes to kill them before they become a problem, since they can easily disappear in a pile of poxwalkers.
It can also be to tag them in order to charge them as a Zealot.
You should actually always tag specials.
You need to warn your squad ahead of time that you have 10 ragers or 5 Crushers running at you and that you need help.
This is an L2P problem that you need to work on @desrocchi .
Really? I need to know that the zealot keeps switching visual from 2 specials back and forth 15 times in 5 seconds?
This answer just tells me you are one of those who uses this idiotic trick.
When I’m trying to dodge an attack in the middle of a horde I don’t need to hear all the bells that the zealot keeps ringing, I need to hear the cues of the attacks.
While its is true that you need to spot and tag priority targets early on, im with @desrocchi on this.
Ive seen too many players recently that have tagging either on their LMB or just straight up have a macro running that is spamming their ping button every 250ms.
If youre spotting a group of multiple elites, lets say 4 Maulers, 2 Bulwarks and 4 Crushers, its totally acceptable to ping every one of those so your team knows theres a lot of enemies ahead.
If some dunce is abusing the tagging system by switching tags between 2 enemies constantly I dont know if that is just some troll spamming tags again or if theres actually a big group ahead, that could pose a serious problem.
Tagging the enemy youre currently dealing with is useless for your team, as youre already dealing with it. Spamming tag between the same 2-3 enemies every 250ms is also useless, because youre already aware that those enemies exist and thus youre just causing sound pollution.
We’re already suffering from specials not making any noise sometimes, we dont have to make it worse, by masking those that do, by switching tags every 250ms between stuff
I highlight a threat and expect people who look in that direction to be able to see all the other threats next to it, I don’t need to highlight every single one of them.
V2 actually had like 0.2 second delay on the tagging to kind of prevent this sort of “over use”.
I only tend to notice when some bugger binds the tagging into the same key as attacking for some dam reason.
That is way too low. The sound from the first tag is still playing while the new one starts…
EDIT: I should correct myself: it not too low in case you made a mistake and wanted to highlight another enemy.
It’s too low in case it’s getting spammed without end upon every single enemy.
That’s why I suggested a limit within a larger time period: you can highlight 3 enemies in the span of 10 (5 maybe) seconds, without a limit on how fast you can switch between them.
He did everything correct except for the constant tagging. If there is a Mauler or Rager pack that you need help with, understandable. But to have a mod that spamms them constantly is an instant douche bag move. You’re annoying little mod doesn’t make you a good player just an fyi
If I find some elites within a hord I’ll usually tag around to get a sense of how many there are and hopefully give my team a sense of the numbers too. But I’ll stop there.
A while ago there was some iffy advice floating around to bind tag to mouse 1 so that you would auto-tag as you attack. I wonder if this person was doing that?
