Really sucks to see that this mission modifier got removed when the limited time event ended because ive been looking for a mode with increased horde spawns and chaff variety since this game launched. Most of the current mission modifiers in rotation involve spamming different specials and elite enemies with slight variations to the environment or player power. Modifiers like High-Intensity, Shock Troop Gauntlet, and Waves of Special (dogs or mutants) are fun but the play style almost exclusively revolves around how you deal with priority range threats or disablers, which can be some of the most annoying enemy types in the game.
The more interesting mission types like monstrous specials and melee only, are limited to maelstrom typle missions and occur infrequently in the mission rotations. This combined with the randomness of the maps presented leads to alot of sameness in both play style and mission variety.
The infested Moebians were a great change of pace that let you try out different weapons and play styles to deal with smaller threats in greater numbers. Oh yea and most importantly it let you do what “Horde” shooters were made for: KILL LOTS OF ENEMIES! Please bring it back and not just for limited events.
Agreed. Was extremely fun and added some semblance of difficulty. Even if they don’t make it a modifier but instead outright add them as base tier enemies on some missions I’d be happy.
A reminder VT2 has better variety in horde mobs including shielded enemies that mix up how some weapons approach different hordes. The higher prevalence of bruisers these days was a step in the right direction but it’s still something that DT horde composition is noticeable missing.
There should be more variations of both enemies tbh. Some Enforcer melee scabs armed with shields would be funny. They couldn’t possibly be as irritating as bulwarks with it…could they?
There are Tzeengors with shields in Space Marine 2 and they are so unfun to fight because the shields make them so tanky you have to overkill them significantly to get past their shield.
