Tedious UI makes it really not that convenient to use. It’s not complicated by any means, but that is not an important determinant in whether or not its usability is up to par with many systems that are used across other games in 2024.
Lack of squad merging really, really, really, really hurts this system in a game like Darktide. The complex mix of playing with friends and filling in empty slots with randoms is a tedious endeavor that results in you having to make another entry in the party finder when you could have joined a 2/4 party with 1 friend and fill it.
This is the issue with no matchmaking in systems like this.
There is a strange, almost fervent desire to make this new social feature the forefront of player cooperation in a game where quickplay is the easiest and most consistent way to enjoy the game.
