Okay, been complaining about the plasteel shortage since forever.
Many of us have.
The problems are multiple.
We can’t trade mats. We can kind of recycle and buy things to recycle, but that’s meh and expensive.
Gathering is hard. You are often teamed with player who only want to rush, never look in the crates, walk right past plasteel.
Much is in crates which require even more breaking off to open.
Crate take too long to open, although ‘autoloot’ mod helps by auto opening and taking mats in a chest. Everyone should download autoloot.
Putting a set amount of plasteel in mortis trials was a good idea, but overall the whole system of gathering as it relates to chests and going off the main route might need to be reconsidered around the way the teams we’re often matched with actually behave.
Perhaps every character could at a minimum have an pickup radius for materials?
A system to trade useless diamantine for plasteel.
Incidentally this is also an issue with grenades, since it’s hard to stay stocked if you aren’t a vet, since you have to run off alone to look for them while your team rushes… but the overall problem of plasteel is still a big issue.
Additionally… players who have been in for a long time should be compensated for all the plasteel, dockets, and diamantine consumed by older RNG crafting systems which ate our resources up like candy for no reward. Ideally before Skitarii update so we’ll have plenty to spend. Return plasteel used in RNG crafting, (Or just a large lump sum…)
This is true, but… also kinda the point. Grenades are powerful abilities that, in exchange for that power, have limited uses. Vet’s whole thing is to bypass that restriction as part of their class design, and that’s okay (albeit something of a balance problem), but that doesn’t mean everyone else should be able to just have infinite grenades and never need to weigh the cost-benefit of using a limited resource now vs having it for a greater need later.
Yeah that’s a bad structure when the supply is isolated from where the players you’re kind of chained to actually go. Should be reconsidered entirely… if they can’t get the playerbase to actually take the time to open chests.
I don’t pick up plasteel but always pick up diamantite. I don’t need either but I remember how I was always short on diamantite, never ran into plasteel shortage. Your situation is plain weird. I guess you don’t take mats yourself and your teammates ignore plasteel because nobody wants it, but they gather diamantite for you.
Win one Havoc game a week (just one), and spend the rest of your time playing regular Damnation missions (not campaign and not operations) without modifiers (especially avoid HI). Play a fast-moving character and install this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/warhammer40kdarktide/mods/447
You’ll be able to farm around 800 plasteel in 20 minutes pretty easily
Rough example build:
The events are pretty much a catch up for new/fresh players, they should just happen more often.
Melk could be reworked to be a resource acquisition specialist because he is pretty much useless since the Unlocked and Loaded update (aside from mass buying curios).
Part of it is that for a long time in the old crafting system … which went though a number of iterations, we ended up needing plasteel in mass volume to create new weapons in the hope of getting a new blessing.
We had to get a weapon with a blessing to collect and keep the blessing. So we’d end up creating a million blue powerswords, then deleting them, hoping to get power cycler 4.
Later, we learned we needed really to go to orange because PS4 was more likely to show up with orange, or so we thought at the time, but it consumed massive volumes of our resoruces and was intensely hated by literalyl everyone. I have two vets just to have two chances at items in Melk’s as I was buying Melk items just to get blessings.
If Fat Shark gave me all my money /mats (wasted by RNG) back, I’d have what @AccountMadeToReply has on hand.
But actually… in many of my runs… I am the only one picking up mats and I pick up all of them. Have to run 2-3 +3 stamina curios with stamina regen/reduced sprint cost on all of them just to get to the matts and back to the group.
idk, I don’t play for such a long time like you guys, but I still have 175k plasteel I have no use for, so surely you should not have a problem. Still weird.
I wanted them to cut down the pick ups on high difficulties for forever. Cut the crap and give 400 plasteel/150 diamantine just for beating the level, then remove all x10 pickups and still have it come out to the same value. 16 plateel pick ups, 6 diamantine pick ups all worth 25. This takes literally 50+ pick ups out of the level…
A comprehensive guide by Mister E shows the ways it can work to collect everything you want to get
Looting is only a margin of mats you get, most of it is through gameplay victories in the “high risk, high reward” sense of threat level (difficulty)
In my experience, playing a few Damnation level, and even Aurics really pile on the plasteel, diamantine, and ordo dockets
In addition to so, the ordo requisitions (aka Melk Bucks") are fast to attain due to the high volume of enemies you encounter, so make sure you set the amounts of enemies you dispatch in melee or ranged to the ones you know you encounter most and quickest to rack up
Regular Damnation missions (without difficulty modifiers) yield the maximum amount of Plasteel and Diamantine. Difficulty modifiers and Auric missions do not increase the amounts of Plasteel and Diamantine (but they do increase the chance of a wipe)
Thank you (kindly) for the clarification, good to know that playing Damnation is a safe bet for reaping the rewards
Makes sense as I run Damnation most of the time after I warm up on Heresy, or just jumping into Damnation been good since I usually do get matched with good players and with my experience I handle it decently lol
