Perilous Overclock QoL suggestion

I’m enjoying the talent so far, but I often lose a lot of health without realizing it, because I’m used to rely on the “burning hand” icon and - more importantly - sound to stop cranking.
Adding the same sound (if not Bardin’s grunt) to the perilous overclock would go a long way to warn us (ofc we should still be able to crank over the sound effect)

I think adding the same burning head mechanic above the 3rd overclock stack would be another welcome change (there’s no need to crank more than that anyway, as you’ll have a full bar by then), but as it is if we do it we get damage.
To clarify, we should be able to refresh the stack if we want, just avoid cranking over the 3rd overclock.

This sounds reasonable :+1:

Weird that isn’t the default.

You’d think that very animation and sound itself was supposed to communicate you’re getting yourself burned

As long as the talent is superstrong it should remain its downside.

I’m having the exact same problem hahaha

I find it very strong too, but if I’m honest, considering they have ruined the normal ulti (for cata at least) and hence innovative ammo hopper, a way to get the ulti back up is really needed.
I relied on the faster ulti before, precisely because there was none.

Still, we’re talking about QoL here. If FS deems it too strong they could nerf it, or give something back to the normal ulti, or improve hopper in some other regard. There’s no point in not having a QoL feature when QoL was one of the main goals of engineer redesing

I found i could still use innovative but yah, it definitely feels worse, slower feels way worse. And even though i still got it to work and do that damage but in terms of general use i think i like linked compression more now. That instant max speed really does feel significantly better.

For bosses? Conc pot still exists, i can live with that.

Yes. The only good think I can say about innovative hopper is that it has the greatest damage potential. the best against bosses if you can keep sustained fire. But in practice?

By the way, the dowside of linked compression chamber is that it shoots so rapidly that the bar depletes faster than the conc potion restores it, so I have wasted a good few seconds from my concoction potions  Otherwise it’s my favorite RN. Gromril’s good too.

Just ran another run with innovative to be sure and you´re defo right about damage potential, and though i cant help but notice that slower startup…it was however undeniably still very effective, at least when paired with piercing shots + full steam.

Gromril …was really darn good, but i cant help but feel like it should be faster than it is (it shouldnt…probably) so i get hung up on it.

Wait full steam’s speed applies to ranged too?
Didn’t think of it, wow! There’s a viable strategy there then! (you loose all the speed buff when you lose a stack though, don’t you? And it’s probably annoying to keep that 5 stacks up as it’s all or none and you’d be unprepared for specials most of the time)

I agree with gromril’s feeling, and analysys. It’s good now. I just think it’s probably better if you can shoot specials with your ranged weapon.
If I were to make a change to it I’d reduce damage drop-off instead of increasing its rate of fire.

If its just 1-2 targets you dont even need the extra attackspeed, but i found myself wanting it for hordes and bosses and kept the cranking up as best i could at practically all times…biggest danger to engineer is himself trying to optimize buffs infront of a murderous crowd

Well…I ended up not having cranks up a lot for hordes that came in too close to be honest, tried that a few times but was too prone to eating hits. But it was still good for when you saw the hordes spawning in a general area and nothing behind you, conga lines fell like dominoes.

The best part about the full Steam talent + innovative is probably that you can crank pretty freely whenever pressure on yourself isnt very high, letting one shoot in bursts and not losing stacks unlike gaskets. I went through Trail of Trechery with his and it really does especially nicely in events with scripted spawns where you know what is gona come from where, those poor Chaos Warriors lost all their friends D-day style.
