Info Type:

[Script Error]: scripts/ui/hud_ui/gamepad_ability_ui.lua:327: attempt to index local ‘size’ (a nil value)

I’m on the tutorial mission again :joy:

Looking in to it, apologies for the inconvenience.

Edit: More information and a workaround here: June 2021 - Known Issues List – Fatshark

Same issue.
Was this even tested before release?
This kinda stuff is seriously starting to baffle me.

Is there any beta testing of patches/updates?
How large is that tester pool?
How does it work and can anyone sign up?

Keeping this kinda S away from the main releases is crucial.

Thanks for the workaround, will test soon. My career skill is bound to a side mouse button.

Another workaround if people dont want to go digging around complicated computer stuff and getting rid of their mouse bindings. if you start the game with a controller connected it will load in fine, then you can switch to keyboard after and everything looks fine.

EDIT: Ignore me im wrong it just crashed when I loaded a map. unless you switch to controller for every loading screen this wont work.

Indeed, the .sav workaround did fix the issue. As you know though, I’m back at the tutorial mission. A nice trip down memory lane!

Looking forward to the hotfix : P

And bonus update: trying to reset my career skill to mouse re-crashed the game immedietly.

Confirm the career skill rebind to mouse immediate crash.

A better tweaked version of the work around because I had a file called save_data.old.

  1. Press the Windows key + R

  2. Enter %appdata% within the search input and select ‘OK’

  3. Navigate to AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Vermintide 2

  4. Make a copy of the existing save_data.sav , store it somewhere safe

  5. Delete the save_data.sav - not the newly made copy, the “old” one

  6. Make a copy of save_data.old and rename it save_data.sav

  7. The crash should no longer occur

Switching to a controller fixed the issue for me! Thank you!

Just a tip so u can play a game with same keybinding untill fix comes.
I am very used to that M4 keybind so I downloaded a program calls “Mouse Manager” and rebinded my Mouse 4 button to "/ " and binded that button in game as career ability. Works fine.

Hi, thanks for this. After doing what you did, can you still use the mouse button to use career ability?

Thanks for the workaround!
I’ll prolly leave the rat-slaying for a couple of days tho’
Fix the issue please!

same for me…

Seems like it’s fixed with the last update.
