Patch #8 Notes

Oi! @Keln, would you be so kind to make another one of your fine arts? I’m thinking Saint Catfish but with two cherubs with parchment “Patch #8” in the background (something like this, but with this).

(We can discuss payment in private)

Yeah it’s a very nice QoL thing. Not just for when everyone is being swarmed, but also for when you have players (totally not always Ogryns, honest) that decide reviving you in front of active shotgunners is a brilliant idea, even though you have eons left on the bleed out timer.

Or when 3 Crushers are engaged in “percussive maintenance” on you.

Thank you @FatsharkLev <3

@FatsharkCatfish
Don’t think this is going to make it worth a spot in the talent tree. The stacks are still low, and the range is really short.

Similarly, the current implementation of wildfire is just very strange. I’m not sure you will ever be able to balance it with the current design. It is far too weak to be worth it on non-purge soulblaze builds, such as Trauma with blazing spirit, or wrack and ruin and so on. If you make it strong enough to be worthwhile on those builds, it will probably be overpowered on purge staff users.
I think it might just be a badly designed talent in the first place, with no real way to make it balanced to be useful and yet not totally OP on certain loadouts.

When the patch annoucement read:

Here are some of the changes (full patch notes will be released shortly after the patch goes live):

I was actually expecting more changes, more of a shakeup, more experimentation (since this game is still in beta haha)

Like… 6 minor changes, with some being barely relevant, which are listed within the post itself… Fatshark, please :frowning:

Psyker changes: Great!
Plasma changes: Great!
Enemy changes: Great!

All in all a great patch.

Yet that the combat team decided to leave the power swords in their current state is a pitty.

If they changed it from

  • 1 empowered swing by default + 2 empowered swings from Power Cycler

to

  • 2 empowered swings by default + 1 empowered swing from Power Cycler

I think most veteran enjoyers would be very happy.
Should be a very easy change as well.

I would agree to PC +1 but not if they would increase it to 2 swings as a base.
Anyways, or they change how PS works, or they should maintain the nerf.

Chainsword torso priority still not fixed
Opening salvo having different time to refresh between weapons AND ADS/nonADS still not fixed
Crit on empty mag blessing still weak
And many more blessings

@FatsharkCatfish hello, can you please tell us if balance changes that are for example like the rashad axe hit priority take actual developer time to change?
From what we know as players, it is a =0 or =1 value in the code.
And other question, are you as QA/FS in contact with people like jsat or telepurte or others?
They could give you a comprehensive list of balance changes that you could implement in one patch and then let it run and see the stats.

I did specify in the comm-link that this is a tiny impromptu patch. The next one will be larger!

I’m not getting the Plasma gun changes on the Experimental branch. Still taking health damage from venting and not ignoring hitzone mutlipliers.
AI changes are working

Love the psyker changes, however I feel that soulblaze needs an overall boost to make it worthwhile in general.
I finally was able to try the dream combo that everyone knows exists but hardly anyone has ever been able to achieve due to the crafting system: A bloodthirsty blazing spirit (III) illisi force sword.
After 1 mission I immediately replaced blazing spirit with slaughterer, because other than looking nice, the burning made absolutely no difference.
4 damage ticks to poxwalkers that disappear after a couple seconds… Somehow lackluster.
Soulblaze stacks either need to last much longer or deal more damage.
The exponential stacking nature would make the first option cool and differentiate it mechanically from normal burning DoT.
The illisi is capable of slashing entire groups in half at the press of a button, why is the burning on critical effect so stingy and weak by comparison?
Even if it generated enough stacks to kill am entire group of elites in seconds through burn damage alone, it would still not be better than every illisi sword is by nature, why the conservative numbers?

Maybe the problem is the illisi damages?

Shhhhhhh, don’t think that too loud, the psykers might hear
It does the same as the power sword, but no chance at more than 1 swing per charge, and costs peril to charge up, I don’t think it’s in a bad place (it just synergizes very well with the class by getting damage boosts from multiple sources like peril level & warp charges… And it really is only good for clearing trash, it needs multiple hits to take out elites & specials)

Do you want everything turned to trash?

Let people enjoy things.

Check my messages by the past… I think that illisi is fine cause you gain peril while using special (maybe the peril you get is not enough, that’s a legitimate question).
But several says that illisi does too much damages. So if everybody says that a weapon does too much damages… maybe it is cause the weapon does too much damages.

About PS… As I said, and that’s my opinion, PS with PC is yet the best melee weapon.
Even increasing from 1 to 2 swings as a base would make it really stronger than 90% of the melee weapons.
Power cycler is rare, and it should give you a real bonus cause you give up one blessing slot to put it.
So, lowering from 2 to 1 swings power cycler seems justified in my opinion cause it would mean that the blessing would permit you to double the number of swings you can do.
But keeping 3 with PC is letting the weapon too strong. Increasing from 1 to 2 as a base, is making any PS so strong than we would return to the behavior before the nerf… Everybody would use it cause it is one of the strongest weapon.

That’s my opinion…
Note that I propose to nerf what I actually use with my vet as I use a PS with PC.
Also note that, in my posts about this topic, I have said that I would not nerf again the PS if I was FS cause of the reactions of players. But I would not revert the changes (PS was above OP before the nerf)

It is a few elitist people, who think (at least some of them) that basically everything should be nerfed.
Their opinions are worth nothing and go straight in the garbage.

I used Illisi… I don’t think it deserves a nerf.
That’s also an opinion (and nothing more)

I returned to obscurus, that I prefer

That is actually an upside. You can keep up TDR and damage boost both from Talent and from Blessing.
