I applaud the editor for the effort, but giving this top billing in the patch notes and such an elaborate write-up almost feels like trickery, which is…less than ideal for a lot of reasons.
@FatsharkCatfish@FatsharkStrawHat would you perhaps pass on the request/suggestion of adding an extra charge to the Power Sword instead? Then that’d at least not feel so inconsequential…
Iv not played in a couple months, so could someone enlighten me: I thought the power sword was pretty op and this patch just adds to that? No? What happened?!
Im, not played myself but according certain strymers, its a meh change the core of the power sword intact the change just helps you to incorporate the activation in a few situation and combos… So it’s a bit less clunky i guess…
The Power Sword was “OP” in the long long ago, in the before-time. It’s been repeatedly nerfed since then, to the point where you only really see them used in conjunction with the Power Cycler blessing, which allows more than one powered strike per activation.
The most ironic thing is that this is basically them admiting that all those reductions in the base charges for power swords were stupid ideas. Though I would have said they were more the result of pure spite and a desire to suck-up to the anti-Veteran screaming minority.
Between this, the worse-than-a-casino mess that is crafting, the sheer incompetence and gross failings of ALL the staff, and the host of other issues left untouched, I am officially done with Darktide. Because frankly at this point nothing short of a bona fide miracle could make this game fun for me again.
It was nerfed indeed. Then it was mega buffed to higher DPS than it had before. Yes you require at least T3 power cycler for it to really go off, but pretending it isn’t currently an absolute top dog melee weapon is hilarious.
Its really bad for the power sword to require 1 blessing. Meanwhile the combat knife isn’t worth alerting the Inquisition over without 2 locked in blessings. Curious
I didn’t think we were in tremendous disagreement. A Power Sword with Power Cycler can be really powerful, and Power Swords can be reliant on that Blessing for viability at the same time, they’re not mutually exclusive state’s of affairs.
the new power sword activation looks cool (and most importantly out of the way), but i feel like i’m getting less horizontal slashes on my light attacks with my mark 6, its silly but i find myself better horde clearing with chainsword
i wish that every time i reactivate it would reset the moveset from start like before, so i don’t have to do mental gymnastic to keep track on what move will come next
I appreciate it’s been a bit of time. But I am aiming to have a short high-level vision statement out this week to give some understanding of what we are working on for the upcoming updates!
Was this after some CEO asked why the forums are 90% ‘where content’ threads, or are you still stuck on your own trying to get something coherent out of the infinite series of monkeys that is your development process?
To add on to this, can we expect to see more communication from the developers directly in the future, rather than just having it filtered through CMs? It’s hard for a “we’re working on it” to feel credible when there’s no proof and someone working on the game code themselves isn’t saying it.
While community managers should exist to manage the forums and keep feedback neat and organized, I don’t think they should be the only folks talking to the playerbase - right now it feels like your only purpose is to spout PR bandaids and hope that keeps things civil for a little longer. Devs should get in on the discussion too - even a simple acknowledging comment on a thread lets us know that they really are paying attention, and goes a long way.
