I totally get why we’d question it now after getting used to it for 2 months, but it is what it is.
Definitely worried about how chem nades will feel but I’m not home to see yet. I guess I get the sentiment that there was no reason to take it with pocket toxin but, man, it was fine as is. (The talent not synergizing with chem nades, that is)
Would honestly achieve almost nothing considering how trivial throwing any blitz out or needle pistol killing the elite you were shooting with dot 1 second after your ammo hits 0. Yes it would require marginally more awareness of your ammo counter and you could occasionally get cucked by team mates kill stealing but it’s not even a slap on the wrist, more like a gentle breeze.
I think if they’re going to invest time into reworking it in the first place no point doing a nothing change so you can say you did something.
put the visor back on the free veteran helmet right this second or i will start pushing in baby’s soft spots. you can just delete the literal 3-5 polygons and fix it instead of nuking the whole damn thing
I don’t know what the data says but hive scum from my experience has an extremely high win rate in aurics i rarely saw any bad scum players after the last buff, if these balance changes are intended for havoc then what’s the point of lower difficulties ?
If they could isolate Ranged DoTs from Blitz DoTs (like Pocket Toxin for example) so Ranged DoTs can’t proc Pickpocket, that might help.
This is purely for a situation where Blitzes are included for proccing it, though. My other proposed solution to bind it exclusively to Elite/Specialist Melee Kills would force the user into Melee in order to keep shooting, creating more dynamics.
There are a few other contributing factors that could also use nerfs here and there.
I like the improvements to the defensive support side of the stim supply.
Personally, wasn’t that bothered by the rampage exhaustion effect, but it’ll probably be a little more fun to not have to deal with it, and the rending talent change makes it more competitive, which is good.
Not sure if there’s a way to make it so that Blackout grenades could regenerate from poison and bleed kills from the bonesaw/shivs (without some other broken interaction rearing its ugly head), but I think this would help give them a niche as a useful, more spammable, regen-able grenade. I think they’re the worst pick currently, which is also probably due to the other two being so strong. Honestly, Boom bringer should maybe be reigned in a smidge similarly to how Chem nade was in this patch (I considered the boom bringer buff pretty heavy handed when it was patched a bit ago). The one build I considered Blackouts on was a bonesaw/poison themed build, but due to melee-applied poison killing many enemies, the grenades weren’t regenerating as fast. So there wa s some unfortunate anti-synergy.
The other scum thing I’d really like to see looked at is Pickpocket, which I’m surprised has escaped nerfs this patch. One of the cool things about scum is that they can make any ranged or melee weapon work, and Pickpocket is a big part of that, but it also enables some builds which are not always that fun to play with as a teammate. Anything that dumpsters inferno staff (the old poster weapon of OP ranged weapons) in every category and metric of kills and damage in havoc probably needs some looking at (IMO). Currently many ranged weapons are capable of it on scum and it’s kind of oppressive.
Hmmmm you’ve given me an idea. What if pickpocket was moved to be a Desperado sub node and the effect became:
“Activating Desperado while your ammo reserve is below 20% will refill it back to 20%”
I agree with you a big issue is being able to get infinite needle pistol ammo with minimal build cost. Forcing needle pistol into an ability that doesn’t do much for it to get the infinite ammo would make it seem a lot more reasonable to me.
So will it actually be March (or later) until those of us without scum get a new update?
Hive Scum stays the most disappointing “content” release and reason I’m on hiatus, with less and less chance of coming back.
Thankfully I saw the writing on the wall and avoided that attractive new aquila deal just barely.
Are the Devs planning to buff everyone to hive scum level in the next update or something? Wow this is insanely stupid. Remember when tide games were about melee combat?
Oh heavens, why ever could that possibly be the case?
Don’t tell me that money is tight right now, customer trust is in the septic tank across the board in all of entertainment, and that perhaps Mad Max isn’t what usually comes to mind when thinking of 40k…
