I’m so mad over this nerf, not that I didn’t think the Psword was overtuned, but because it took me until two days ago for Power cycler to finally show up for me, and now its trash and I feel like putting any time into this game is a pointless waste because someone will flip a switch and invalidate it all the literal next day. WAY TO MAKE ME FEEL LIKE I WASTED ALL MY TIME YOU DBAGS
Power Sword with Power Cycler and Slaughterer is still bis so you don’t really have to worry too much about it.
It feels very slightly worse to how it was before I added power cycler to it, so it feelsbadman, I’ve got 760 hours, it was a very long and frustrating process to get it to begin with.
You’re getting triple the charge hits. No way to cut it where power cycler isn’t still highly desirable.
A weapon was balanced and for your hard work you STILL have a BiS blessing. So what exactly is your issue? It doesn’t make any sense to me.
You find these changes justified - a lot don’t. And most who don’t like it propably even don’t even frequent this forum… So maybe accept that a large part of the shrinking playerbase hate these changes and have a right to communicate their feelings to FS? I mean it’s a game - it’s meant to be fun and just got a lot less fun for many people. Although obviously some are happy that others aren’t enjoying their tediously grinded weapons anymore.
And many people (myself included) not caring for Vermintide at all consider fidelity to the lore core of the appeal of a 40k game, so if a power sword that in lore is activated and then fought with a day long and then deactivated now has to be activated for every bloody swing, then I’m not gonna like it, simple as
To be clear - I don’t like the activation mechanic of any weapon (except for the force swords - they make sense there). So everything that worsens these mechanics even further is just extremely immersionbreaking for me.
I’m happy that you are among the very few players that ever saw a power cycler blessing - most don’t. I’m 300 hrs in game and have been searching for it and never came across one. Telling people that a super rare T4 blessing makes everything ok doesn’t help anyone - thank you.
Triple the charged hits of 1 is 3, which is what you could get out of an Psword without Powercycler pre-nerf, so with the blessing it now acts the exact same as it did before, seeing as I looked for it daily in melks since launch, and upgraded every Psword I saw trying to get it, it really sucks to finally get my hands on it only for it to feel the exact same. If you can’t see how thats dissatisfying to me, I don’t know what to tell you.
I don’t have Power Cycler myself lol, only Sunder at best but I still doing fine with it.
Also I’m at like 400~ hours I think?
Sure I understand those feelings as long as you’re not suggesting that is an actual argument against the nerfs. If you’re just shouting into the void for catharsis fair enough.
I think the Psword needed a nerf, I don’t think it needed four at once, like they all compound on top of one another its completely baffling to me. I always thought the sound nerf would be to reduce the heavy swings per charge from 3 to 1, and add lower level power cyclers to the blessing table.
Ok sure, my point was just that how annoying it is to get power cycler isn’t really a valid part of that discussion because if anything you’re even better off than people without it now. Like you absolutely did not waste your time getting it.
Thats fair, my personal satisfaction at acquiring it is a gutpunch compared to what I was expecting, that isn’t relevant to the blessing still being generally desirable.
Actually devaluing the time people spent in the game and a feeling wether something is fun to use or not are pretty strong arguments against the nerf.
Far stronger than any statistic could ever be - there‘ll never be an e-sports tournament where stuff needs to be perfectly balanced. This is a coop game without offline mode that needs players. And for the majority of players to stay the fun they have and the feeling that their efforts are valued are more important in coop games then a perfect metric balance that is unachievable anyway.
It’s a balancing act. My experience with Tide games is that more than anything difficulty is the long term life blood of these games. It’d be easy to not care if we had a modded realm to tweak and customise difficulty as we like but it’s unlikely that will be a possibility this time around.
So ultimately balance matters more to me than power fantasy. I actually do want to use weapons like power sword but they’re equally unfun for many of us when they’re overtuned. Ultimately here they did a good job on ensuring blessing balance WASN’T adjusted too much so what you were working towards before is still what you’re working towards now. Accordingly I object to claims that time has been “wasted” getting blessings that are still BiS. The person I was responding to even conceded that much.
There is no working towards with RNG. There is no progression, no getting closer with each failed attempt, no getting better, no way to influence it other than to roll again and again and again, and each of those rolls being exactly the same.
RNG is not progress and that’s one of the core issues with this game.
I expect they’re going to release a higher difficulty along with tier 5 blessings and 100 rating on weapons at some point which should scratch the missing difficulty itch a lot of the vermintide players have had.
I don’t like how they’re risking falling into the lazy cycle of nerfing whatever the current hot weapons are. Next it’ll be the auto pistol and the Mk V combat axe and then it’ll be the MkXII Lasgun and the combat knife, its a never ending cycle.
TBF a lot of the things you mentioned probably do warrant varying degrees of nerfs. They’ve been pretty restrained with nerfs so far I wouldn’t worry we’re heading into an endless nerf cycle at this point.
@zaygr I certainly don’t disagree with any of that.
I think if anything we need to see a large number of the weapons brought up from where they’re at, as most of them just feel bad to use.
Yes people who wasted tens of thousands of mats to get a PS with a powercycler only for a patch to f them over (because now a PS with Cycler is just a normal PS pre nerf) so you can have your “feeling of balance” surely must appreciate it a lot. It’s not like you could just cope with a Powersword acting like a Powersword.
Nope. Nerf for everyone. Thus decreed the people with too much time on their hands.
What an amazing and not at all self centered argument.
rather unlikely considering a regular soldier would be dead 1000 times over, in the scenarios we find ourselves in,
deamons at hand cult growths rampant in the city, priority number one is to restart tank production in enemy territory logical conclusion, they should consider nuking the city at that point, if not exterminatus yet we restarting water supply, wich was held by nurgle followers, better hope they have some damn good purification or else they contribute to the spread more than any of nurgle following nutbust,
if you’re such an lore purist you should be in a constant state of hypothermic shock paired with brain aneurysms while playing
I don’t really agree with “most” but yeah there’s plenty of stuff I would still like to be bumped up for sure. They have been doing that, even in this last patch. I’m confident they will continue to do so.
