Just look at L4D2, it has lived on for YEARS without ANY type of grind. Because the game is fair and requires skill, and some luck, to be able to clear everything. And you have the ability to mod the game, make your own maps, and challenge yourself and your friends with near-to-impossible levels. The game right now on steam workshop has close to 5.000 campaigns (I would say a lot of them are awful but the sheer number of maps is impressive nonetheless).
None of Fatshark’s games survived when their new game was released. V1 completely died the day V2 was released, and I mean currently V2 still has some players but TBF I think that’s because the Darktide launch was as bad as it was so people went back to playing V2 instead.
@Saryk you get the weapon you want, just not instantly. Same for the other stuff, except that some combinations are rare. Still, you don’t need them to advance or experiment or even carry. They are just there as long term goals and to add more flavor. So there is no tragedy about some combinations being rare. And it is rare in the actual sense of the word and not in the “i grind dust and just reroll until i get the (actually not rare, but simply grindy) combination”. I get your i want it all and i want it now mentality. But there is nothing that you can not do because of how things work in Darktide. You just can’t have it all at once. It neither stops your progress, success nor experimentation. You just can’t simply grind any rare just like that. There is no need to grind in Darktide, you just play and experiment and enjoy it, or you don’t. And they will certainly add more variation and possibilities along the way. Just stop comparing it to vermintide, this is not V3.
@Roibr what the heck are you grinding for? There is zero reason to grind here. You can play it easy, or you can play it hard, right from start and by now all can be done with blue weapons. Either play and experiment and enjoy the game, or don’t. Like I said, this seems a lot like compulsive behaviour, which admitedly seems quite common nowadays. Don’t play it like Vermintide, play it like Darktide. It’s a different game, and there already now is a lot of variation. My advice to you should probably be, to let the game rest for half a year or more and then give it another try. Just don’t expect V3. Even good games don’t need a billion clones and follow ups. FS are doing a good job not making it too identical while retaining a certain flavor, but the game is new and there sure is still a lot on the list for fixing and expanding. Just don’t get super desperate for rare combos, as they won’t fundamentally change your experience anyway.
That’s a stretch. You can get bad luck in the store and not see a version of the weapon you want for days, and even then it could be a bad one you have no use for.
Compared to VT2, where I can get the weapon I want in a matter of seconds, DT is ridiculous.

There was too much Promise on Paper, OFFICIALLY and we didnt get jack shite. Some Cmanager even lied or didnt recall whst they sid before, you can choose. You miss a thing, its we have so many more Weapons more or less when you account the Mk´s. So the grind IS bad. Blue Variation are totally and utter useless. theres no point in them since they are Peashooters. Exception is the Rippergun and Lucius Pattern.

Every Looter/ Rng Game gives you Player Agency, and theres a Good reason for it. There needs to be a Finishing Line.

No they are not. The System is between V2 and Darktide, but couldnt decide, but they took exactly the system from V2 but only the baddest implement, not the Good ones they worked for Years.

If its true what you said, Darktide is its own Game than they could have made everything new, but they didnt. They took that from V2 which was expected and theoretically Good.

The System we have again, is centered around Breakpoints but only half functioning. If it werent why make it so.
You are talking as if there are plenty of good weapon choices to use, 90% of ranged weapons are bad, nearly 60% of melee weapons are bad. The shop is nothing but filled with low power level items, that cant even kill a poxwalker on heresy. also not to mention Sire Milk, selling nothing but overpriced weaponary, that even the normal vendor sells higher power level items.
Also loot system works? what’s the use of playing on higher difficulties? there is no loot for playing on higher difficulties , during the time it takes to complete a single difficulty 4, i can speed run 5 times at difficulty one.

I got my 380 Rippergun from there. Its a Blue one sadly and not MkII but still its super good.
Buy the perks you want in Melks shop and keep it until we can melt it together to T4 and or transfer it to another Weapon.
@Roibr you are incoherent, so i will try to keep it short. You were the one who said the Grind is boring and is a full time job. I say, there is no necessary grind, unless you exhibit compulsive behaviour (which means you have to grind, because of addiction, authism or whatever). I experimented a lot so far and I’m fine with it and I am looking forward to FS improving it even further, without making a 1 on 1 copy of vermintide. They did a great job so far and I will soon have more hours in Darktide than in Vermintide 2 (only 30 hours or so missing I think).
Where is the progression? You kidding? That’s the whole point, your weapons keep improving a lot longer than in Vermintide, cause you can’t just grind the perfect weapon. So you upgrade in smaller increments and with more variation. Plus you advance through the levels, through the difficulties and through the penances (game needs way more penances!).
One rare combo would for example be Confident Strike and Momentum. Only 3 weapons can have it, of which only one suits my taste. So it will be a while till I get my hands on it. Is that a problem? Not at all. As long as I enjoy the game, this is another reason to come back.
@Saryk for days? Unlikely, if we talk ingame time. Yes it might take a couple shop rolls and even longer to get a desired blessing/power combo. Which doesn’t stop you from anything though, other than not getting your weapon like you are ordering on amazon.
The point of playing the higher difficulties is the higher difficulty. If it weren’t for weekly missions, i rather fail 10 times with brainless randoms on damnation, than fall asleep on malice. Although malice is nice if you just want to relax and enjoy the game and grafics without breaking a sweat. Unless you have to carry the team as the only lvl 30, which happens quite a lot at the moment.
PS: I really wish finishing weekly missions on heresy and damnation would count for more than on the lower difficulties. Like eg. on heresy you can do it with a third less and damnation with 2 thirds less. So the finish 25 missions quest could become finish 8 missions, on damnation.
yeah for the challenge/thrill only, I have done each mission type as damnation , was fun was challenging and frustrating, thats it , i done it once why to repeat it?
example in Deep Rock Galactic/Vermintide 2, or any game that knows how CO-OP Shooter works, with difficulty increase loot increase, giving rewards, yet also allow people to become pros and the play the game more and more.
just try matchmaking diff 1-3 , look at the number of level 30 that joins ALOT, yet at Diff 4-5, barely 1 or 2 guys join, and sometimes bunch of level 14-20 joins that they still don’t know how to play the game, no one wants a much harder mission and risk of losing for 0 loot.
Not the dude you responded to but you only need ilvl 400 items to get the hardest difficulties done with little issue with a ilvl 600 cap. The actual difficulty on harder modes comes from your allies not actually being good enough and running away from you in moments of fear.
Cause that’s where the game is. Sure, easy mode is relaxing and can take your mind off other things. But it has little entertainment value compared to high difficulties unless you are the grind type. Although the difficulty obviously also depends a lot on your teammates. The vast majority does not play very well. My girlfriend who just games since not even three years and had zero PC experience prior to me making her play, plays the game better than the average matchmaking encounter. There should really be filters for the lobby, to at least filter the worst half of players out. In the long run they will need it, to keep players that do not play in a 4 man premade for higher difficulties, so they don’t move on to other games earlier than necessary.

When you received a Red Item, that was only the sart if it. After that you started Grinding for Materials to Customize your Weapon to certain Playstyle/ Breakpoints. Not possible unless you play like 100hrs a week. Cause also Customizing is way, way Overpriced unlike in V2 where ther was pricing but possible for normal People that have a Fulltime Job and work their asses off, while coming home jumping into DT and “Work towards” THEIR Perfect Weapon. This includes Experimentation with Combos, but also near impossible.

Hard to compare it. There was no Grind right, and was fun. But we have Unlocks and Grind now in Games which makes them more Fun and Consumer want it, albeit in reasonable Manners.

Yeah, top roll weapons with ideal blessings don’t matter because the game is dogshet easy. Conversely, why do any of you care about other people having top roll weapons? The game is dogshet easy anyways, like I said.
At this point the only longevity for people who can beat damnation easily is experimenting with different builds. I can’t believe “let me buy the weapon type I want at a power level appropriate for my character” is a controversial take.
That’s the thing, back then (2009) it was the height of the MMO revolution, but game developers didn’t think about adding those systems to CoOP games, it was a great game despite lacking a lot of systems that games have today, and tbf, most developers who add those systems do it without thinking about what makes those systems great. Fatshark has always been bad at this, they don’t understand why people like grinding items in games like Diablo, PoE, or Borderlands, they just add grind to their games, to quote Dr. Ian Malcolm in Jurrasic Park. “but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn’t stop to think if they should”.
WHY should Darktide, Vermintide have these grindy RNG item drops? No one has ever said when playing these games that the item grind was fun, pretty much everyone HATES these systems, and they just keep adding them into every game they make. They have gone bankrupt when it comes to innovation, they just keep making the same game over and over again with a new look to it.
Why not let us craft items from the start? Give us materials on the levels with different values so we have to run harder missions to be able to craft that special item we want, and add more blessings so we can test different combinations and experiment. Sure it would probably take more time and planning but the players would appreciate it more than having to randomly roll item improvements until you get the exact roll you want, no skill, just time wasted.
So true. Tbf, having this bullsh*it item system that they have is just ass backwards. If people like playing games with random loot drops, upgrading items, and playing the game to get upgrades, why not play Borderlands, Tiny Tina, or Destiny 2? This game could remove all item levels and just have all item types as default items with us mixing our loadout in any way we want and that would have been more fun than what we have now. And yes, the difficulty is pathetic, I have 480-ish item level right now and have cleared every mission on damnation. And the group I played with we did that when most of us were around 450. The rating is just a meme at this point.
Fatsharks always struggled with finding a good balance with things. VT1 people complained that loot was too RNG dependant and there could have been a little more. So what did Fatshark do for VT2? Loot is just as RNG, but then we drowned in weapons. Along comes darktide, players complained about the RNG and too many weapons in VT2, now we struggle to acquire anything of value at all and the RNG is worse than it’s ever been.
I feel like the DRG weapon upgrade system would make far more sense in this style of game than the diablo styled lottery we have.
I dont mind to grind and get rewarded with a nice Weapon that has max stats, then later on i can customize to my liking. Its not like you get them like Candy either. Somtimes youre lucky other times not.

Too many Weapons in V2, i remember reading this in Forum, but these are not really many Players that said this. I dont think theres too much weapons.
Only a few are really Clones. Priest Dual Wield Hammers and Single Hammer(without Book), 2H Sword Kruber Salty.
Cant recall any more. The rest is Unique, although and that is a of course, not all are same good.
I like the variety of V2 its good. We would have that here, but well blueish Weapons should be removed and replaced in Inventory with Green versions. Green and Brown is the only one that matter. Or just Remove all and make one version of each Weapon, but then. Tactical Axes do ahev different Attack pattens of which some are good and Taste.
Id cut down the Ranged Weaopns when it comes to Color. On Melee i understand like i said since different Attackpatterns. On Ranged it doesnt really matter if you have different Colors. Players normall go for Brown or Green. Medium or heavy dmg. If you would do that, the RNg would be lots and lots better already.
Problem is, FS idnt want to release all the Weapons right away, cause of their Roadmap. Also well see more Classes so they need Unique Weapons aswell that make sense.

More a Veteran Officer Weapon. Or plasma Pistol same. Since theres probably Veteran Seargent coming, thats what he gets. Melta Pistol and Plasma Pistol for sure. I hope ofr full Meltagun aswell.
It would be neat to seelike you can Hide Weapons in the Shop you dont like. So they never drop in the shop and you can Focus on what you like. Would help with RNG Hell aswell. Or you choose from 3 Ranged and 3 melee Weapons adn only these will drop in shop as long as you dont update the list.
By drowning in weapons, I meant too many loot drops, too much inventory management, too much crap/excess gear to scrap constantly. It was the smallest main problem of any of their loot systems and now we’ve got these mammoth problems.
