Yeah, I read about it and was dumbfounded. Then I read all the jokes people made and had a great laugh about it.
I’m not mad, but at this point Fatshark is the but of joke.
I realize this is some people’s hard work and they must be very disappointed, but whoever is responsible for this needs to take a long walk and think about if they’re in the right position.
i can’t believe we have to wait seven whole entire days for a trailer. i took off work all week this week just so i could have enough time to rent a crane to lift me out of my bed and move me over to my computer so i could watch it when it came out.
this is so unacceptable. i’m a 40k Gamer and i paid at least $10 for this game so that makes me a paying customer that deserves to be given exactly what i’m told regardless of whatever little mistakes these human beings make. in fact, i’m demanding a full refund of my game AND my time!!! fatshark!!! pay me $50,000!!! NOW!!! before i activate my rage mode……….
I will say that the tone of their communication has improved in the last few years. At least there’s some implicit admission of error and an understanding that their community’s patience and support aren’t strictly owed in the Steam update and Quickpaw’s Discord message.
There was a time when it would’ve been evasive passive-aggression and it’s genuinely nice to see improvement from that.
Nobody is angry, as far as I can tell. Well, maybe one guy. But for the most part it’s just that it smells like pee in the hallway now and some of us don’t like that.
Surely the blame lies solely with GW here. Fatshark never fails to meet deadlines. GW most likely waited until the very very very last minute to throw a wrench into Fatshark’s gears.
The sheer benefit of the doubt people give FS after all those years of consistent failure, lies and general BS excuses is impressive really. It’s always someone else’s fault. Especially with such a nice big target like GW.
I want you to take a look at my post record before accusing me of doing Fatshark apologia.
Fatshark screws up constantly but GW is also known to be simultaneously dysfunctional and iron-fisted about its IP, and this entire thing is because marketing materials.
If it was an actual update? 100% Fatshark’s fault. But it being a pure marketing thing, well, either there’s one specific manager screwing things up on the one day a week he works, or someone else put the kibosh on something at the last second.
From what I’ve researched, Games Workshop’s approval process is actually very strict, and they reportedly scrutinize everything in detail, including assets, animations, weapons, models, artwork, and even marketing materials. In SM2, they apparently forced the team to change a very small part of the armor design. So, although it’s unclear what kind of new class trailer was scheduled to be released this time, it’s possible that at the last minute a GW representative contacted them saying something like, “Sorry, the design shown at X minutes Y seconds isn’t acceptable, please change it.”
I get how delays to actual content releases may inconvenience someone, but how does an announcement being delayed affect anyone negatively? Other than Fatshark themselves of course, the hype might suffer.
As in, what’s the upsetting part about it for you? You wanted to be advertised to and now the advertisement comes out a week later? Typing it out it sounds like a dystopian dig, but I legitimately can’t figure out why anyone would view this with upset rather than bemusement, unless they work at the Fatshark marketting team.
Something like that happened previously when they delayed an announcement cause of “technical reasons” but in reality GW forced them to have something at the Skulls show.
However it’s weird that SM2 and Rogue Trader are able to be consistant (there were few delays) but with FS it’s almost expectable there will be “next week”. Does GW just hate Fatshark?
Why am I required to read up on forum lore when I see a bad take? Fatshark has proven for the better part of the last decade that they are incapable of time management, adhering to deadlines or even keeping their word. Even ‘truth’ is a very malleable term to them, given past CM statements. This is the company that released and patched the wrong version of VT for almost half a year only to go “woops”. Surely that was GW meddling with their version control.
People fail to consider that FS is just as incompetent and terrible as GW is. Every bit of leeway given leads to them doing the same thing over and over again. I’m surprised people aren’t tired of it as this point. This is a company that releases teasers for events 1-2 weeks after the event has already started. But surely marketing is 100% GWs fault.
Either way, whatever helps you sleep at night. I’m sure it’ll be the weather’s fault next time a list minute delay hits.
Omg, a company like fatshark thats known for being extremely slow with content updates and constantly delaying things has delayed something??? No wai mane.
Do you actually think they are allowed to speak out without facing major repercussions from GW? That is not how the modern corpo works. If they want to, they will make you tarnish your image, for their gain, while putting on a smily face. You can’t even explain what is really happening in an honest, upfront way. Companies like GW won’t allow FS to tarnish their image by revealing how horrible they are to them.
