Oops, we did it again

And waited until the very last second to tell you guys that we’d need another week… because we thought we might get it done today, but then decided at the last second that five extra work days were actually what we needed, which, you see, we couldn’t have known until fifteen minutes before the announcement - there was just no way to tell that there were five days worth of work to do yet.

At what point does the distinction between incompetence and sabotage become trivial?

I’m not even mad. You really couldn’t script a television parody of the games industry to be more absurd than this. At this point I just feel bad for the parts of the team that sincerely try not to pee their pants in front of the school.

Yeah, I want FS to get a clear message here: I am not mad, I am not going to threaten your employees, I am not going to review bomb you.

Your incompetence is entertainment to me now. That’s all.

This is some funny shite.

Apparently ‘the decision’ was ‘made last minute’ and FS is upset. It’s also about marketing materials.

Reading between the lines, GW stuck its oar in and karked it up for us. That or FS is lying through their teeth, but GW being GW…

Could not agree more, it’s such a fatshark thing to do.
Also, don’t kid yourselfes the new class will either be broken or break vast parts of the game, no matter what.

Delaytide is not real, it cannot hurt you

Nah it can’t, but it can kill any hype you may have had for their next big $ release.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

If this is true, it’s been the justification for almost every misstep I’m aware of over the last two years. At that point, it’s happened enough for Fatshark to reasonably expect a Games Workshop liaison to comment on the extent of their “guidance” and their rationale for “ensuring consistent quality” (or whatever the aim is.)

Continuously trashing the schedule and reputation of your second, maybe third, largest industry partner does quantifiable damage to their brand, and it’s unfair to expect them to bear that cost. They should at least accept accountability for the process.

As much as we may agree, I sure the contract/IP lawyers have litigated accountability out of everything.

Well, it’s only a week, so let’s cut them some slack. Besides, it seems the class is set to be released on December 2, which is sooner than I expected. I thought it was a 50/50 chance between this year and next.

It also means the possibility of no major fixes until mid-late January or early February due to the release being so close to their end-of-year office shut down.

Compared to what could be said by dredging the Book of Grudges for the release issues that consistently plague them, I think this is cutting slack.

I won’t ignore that the forum smells like pee.

Now let’s wait for the 2 december so they can announce they delayed the release as well

No. I am not accepting any “Oh wowsers trousers, yet another last minute delay because GW is doing FS bad. Ah, darn it, those pesky GW people. This is not FS’s work, folks!”. No, no, no. I am not taking a single bite of that cake until I see some proper communication in that case from Fatshark saying something like:

“We are dreadfully sorry, but we have together with GW deemed that the new class reveal that was supposed to happen today has to be delayed by a couple of days. There are several reasons to that; here are the broad strokes. Again, we are deeply sorry about this last minute change of plans and understand the potential frustration this will lead to for many of you, but we promise you it is going to be worth the wait. Thank you for your patience.”

That is of course never going to happen.

I am not saying they didn’t add a short reasoning for the delay now; I am talking about blaming or not blaming GW.

I have no doubt GW is extremely authoritarian, greedy and whimsical buisness partner, but FS pulls out some oopsies more often than other 40k devs.

With SM2 or Rogue Trader there were some patch delays for both, but overal they are doing fine. SM2 roadmap is somewhat stable.

RT is even more crazy cause of the insane ammount of factions, themes, text and WH40k worldbuilding pieces they need to coordinate with GW.

So it’s just hard to believe there was something wrong with just one class announcement (not even release) GW forced them to cancel it last moment.

People often say Tencent is to blame aswell. But GGG is owned by Tencent, yet they are one of the best studios in the industry.

Fat Shark getting ready for November 11th:

I respect them trying to top Visorgate and Barktide in time for this year’s Gaming Razzies, and as much as I want a Fatshark sweep, it’s giving desperation a little bit.

Fatshark’s next game will be their Payday 3, calling it now

We should have known this was going to happen has soon as they released a road map

They’re incapable of sticking to those it’s a company mandate.
