Realized while typing in a thread I never made a Bug thread for this, not sure if it will help but now that I’m more sure on the cause I figured I’d put it in here too.
Darktide has a memory leak/some form of memory crash that’s been in it for a while, but I only recently discovered it might be related to it’s inventory system. As someone with a large inventory of many high level things, I believe the more stuff you have in your inventory, the more likely this is to occur. Routinely toward the end of my gaming sessions I’ll get a ‘out of memory’ error that force crashes the game, and after doing some inventory refactoring, I discovered it happened faster/within like an hour or two of me buying a LOT of low mobility daggers on multiple characters and then having it hard crash on talking to the tech priest when trying to upgrade after getting rid of them all. So I figured after ‘learning’ that, I’d make a bug report.
Steps to Reproduce (Required):
Have a decently large/big inventory
Play the game
Ran out/not enough memory hard crash
(Also play the game for a long time/half a day or more with the above and get this crash in the middle of the mission and curse the warp as you desperately try and reconnect, maybe related to resource pick up by you or an ally).
I will apologize in advance at least atm, given when these crashes occur I tend to try and get back in quickly so I failed to capture such a link. I’ll try and remember this and under the likely event I hit the crash again, I’ll get the crashify link and place it here should it still be needed by that point.
Until that point though, I was able to find the log within my folder that ended differently than the others that brings up ‘not enough memory’, so I have attached it here to this reply! Hope it helps. console-2025-05-04-00.55.56-8b1db411-617d-45b8-93b5-a265011faf47.log (2.7 MB)
And as a reference, all other logs in that folder ended like this log (which I assume occurred every time I exited the game given the amount in there, but I could be wrong/these could just be consistent in game errors that didn’t kick me out all the way). console-2025-05-01-23.33.06-431978bc-8b12-457d-9bff-db9acee5e687.log (2.8 MB)
we limit it to 1 GB even if we could theoretically have it to 2 I think. But there is no reason for having it set to 2.
Most likely a memory leak. And I would start by disabling the mods you are playing with and report back if it resolves your issue. Otherwise I will forward this to the gameplay team
