Only dumbos think shroudfield is bad

“Zealot must use book!!! I’m so bad I need a pause button, don’t worry zealot it’s so fun standing there holding up your own carrot on a stick!”

“Zealot Invis sucks! If zealot goes invisible then it means I have to fight more enemies in a horde shooter for three seconds. Killing a boss or high value target? Why not use book?”

“Fatmangus? Haha what terrible damage output. Just use book”

You should probably remove “ret4rds” from the title if you don’t want your topic taken down (I don’t give a sheet but someone will) that being said though yeah chorus is the worst designed and most boring ability in the game and I refuse to use it.

Shroudfield is fun and can be a good way to take down high priority targets, but if you’re talking about Havoc, well I wouldn’t want to play with a stealth player either.

I find that ppl who claim zealot or shroudfield are weak simply don’t know how to play it so they dismiss it entirety. There are many content creators playing it successfully and video evidence of invis zealots doing tons of damage and carrying h40 all over the youtube and twitch.

Shroudfield is bad, but not because it’s weak. It’s because it promotes a toxic way of playing that inconveniences your teammates.

The fu is a high value target that requires pressing “F” and going into stealth in order to kill it? And why cant you just switch to a bolt pistol and headshot it away like a normal person would?

it depends on what kind of stealth zealot you have on your team: one who knows stays with the team and backstabs bosses, or one who uses stealth to run off, dump aggro on mates and then poses as hero because look, i can revive while shrouded.

Please, list the inconveniences

Yeah, bad players are bad. Still shroudfield after the latest rework fills the same role Fotf does. It boosts your single hit while also giving you option to reposition or do saves/objectives.

Not sticking with your team means teammates have more enemies on them. And when the Zealot is struggling with enemies aggroed on him, and he uses Shroudfield, the enemy’s AI immediately shifts its attention to whoever is still alive, in that case the teammates.

The loner aura only added onto it, causing some Zealots to create builds focused solely on being far away from your team and being ahead of everyone, aggroing enemies and using Shroudfield so they go to the teammates and not the Zealot.

That is why the Loner aura was removed for instance. Like Shroudfield, it promoted a toxic way of playing that goes against the game’s CO-OP design. Shroudfield however, still remains and while it is harder for people to make toxic builds and play like they used to, it’s still possible.

Stealth is generally a bad idea in CO-OP games like Darktide for the reasons I stated above (it’s also why I feel the same way about the Infiltrate ability of the Veteran, but it’s not nearly as busted as Shroudfield so almost no one uses it).

So you are talking about the reddit pub shroudfield stereotype which further solidifies my claim that ppl who say it’s weak simply don’t understand it.

Shroudfield is not just dropping aggro to your teammates, it’s about immediately backstabbing everything that is walking away from you and removing it from the game in one hit because of multiple backstab bonuses. Sure is not as straightforward as prayer but simply not knowing how to use something doesn’t prove something has no use.

Okay. Just to clarify (in case I got misunderstood): I’m not saying Shroudfield is weak. It’s just an ability with a bad mechanic, unfit for a game like Darktide. Otherwise, I agree about it being dead overpowered. Anyone who says so, never played it right.

Stealth is definitely powerful right now. I think all his ults are good but could use some tweaking.

Chorus is boring to use and whenever I play it I’m bored to tears. Having to just stand there and chant for gold toughness is so lame. Then the extra nodes requiring you chant for 5 pulses for the bonuses to apply make it more boring and less practical.

Fatmangus is a strong build for sure but I do hate not picking all the damage nodes and putting all my points in defense nodes. That said taking a burster to the face and kind of shrugging it off does feel good! It’s good the zealot can be tanky though.

agree with all, picked chorus because that’s very much how i’m feeling about it too.

  1. it’s the same kind of ability that just stops the game like smite (at least, less spammable now) so the others bash stunned enemies = not that suspenseful.
  2. the others bash, you just hold your relic, which makes it even more boring.
now if i could smack them with my other hand while delivering my sermon, to make sure it gets in their heads. but no.
  3. i always burn my whole 7 seconds or so of holy wrath, even if i need only 2 seconds of it. would be nice to have a wrath meter.
  4. and since a valiant gentleman or lady of the imperium looks down on smiting stunned heretics, his holy light should only blind the foe, so they flail or shoot aimlessly, but don’t accept their fate cowering in fear.

The problem is not stealth being weak, the problem is why the frick does the tankiest character in the game have the stealth ability? Give it vet or scum, so the lil squishy dude does not have to run away every five seconds. When I invite a zealot I expect a hyper aggressive front liner which fights right beside me, not a tail tucking weasel dropping all its gunner Aggro on me the seconds he hears toughness going down. The amount of times all went well just to be killed in an instant before I could react… Might be that the audio queues don’t work when gunners insta switch, might be something else. Nonetheless if it wasn’t a zealot (ogrin or arbitrator) I would understand. There is an etiquette you expect from a zealot and duelling sword and shroud field undermines it.

Edit: I am a zealot main, that’s probably where that rant came from.

I enjoy various Zealot’s playstyles, none of them is bad, all its Abilities are good on their own merit.

AFAICR it’s taken from WH lore, there are some stealthy operatives Inquisition uses. Overall I didn’t get your point, how is tankiness should exclude stealthiness and such. You seem to be under impression stealth is used to save your arse - while in most cases on both vet and zealot you use it to just move around freely and choose attack vectors. It’s not additional protection layer, it’s a different playstyles allowing you to do things like taking out priority targets, set diversions, rescue allies.

Aggro-dumping puts pressure on your team to carry your get out of jail. boiling it down to “I have to fight more enemies in a horde shooter for three seconds.” is a gross understatement.
