They "fixed" shroudfield ;( now it sucks

You used to be able to get two hits in with Shroudfield, if you used it right as your attack landed you would get the attack bonus and still be in stealth allowing for another attack. It felt really good and helped justify not taking Chorus, now Shroudfield just feels awful because they fixed this unfortunately. I don’t think there’s any point in using it anymore.

Even fury of the faithful is better at this point

Did it ever feel like a bug exploit?

tbh it was the only thing making it viable, the burst damage was good. It’s partly why I always thought vet stealth was useless, they couldn’t do this and still can’t + the bonuses they get are extremely weak but yeah vet stealth always sucked and now zealot stealth is also useless.

Also, it raised the skill cap of this ability. You were not able to go into stealth, run behind an enemy and do this. You would need to be in front or behind the enemy and then pop it while hitting the enemy with a heavy overhead, then do another heavy for maximum damage. Now shroudfield is just completely braindead, just press F and get extra damage for 1 attack. Boring.

Like you just cannot justify taking Shroudfield anymore, you go invis which hurts your team, then you do 1 attack with extra damage. Fury of the faithful you get two crits, so Shroudfield is a literal downgrade.

Chorus being in the game just makes Shroudfield seem even worse. Again, 1 attack with extra damage from Shroudfield or you take Chorus and give gold toughness to all your teammates in range along with suppressing every enemy in the radius and even staggering bosses for several seconds + extra toughness damage reduction or what I take which is 25% extra damage.

Shroudfield is just trash now unless you like to hide from the enemies while your team suffers

Can’t disagree with the skill cap point.

The 8s CD uber backstab talent plus all the others backstab damage talents they’ve added will see to the viability though.

Did a shroudfield run yesterday with combat blade and I liked it more than before. Yeah, you don’t get the double hit and you don’t get instant cooldown anymore, but I think this is better. Still had a lot of fun and did a large amount of damage. I don’t know, I enjoy it more now than before.

Vet stealth never sucked, it was just always compared to shout with the ridiculous cooldown. There was no reason to take anything else except exe stance if you had a good team that would protect you. Now vet stealth is so so much better than it was comparatively because of the cooldown nerfs, including the 30% damage in the stealth node itself, the 20% weakspot and 15% base damage for 10s on leaving stealth nodes, and extra damage nodes vet got this patch to justify the boost. Now you can massacre waves of ragers or crushers with a well timed buff train that sees you stun everything in sight with a grenade that auto regens, and smack everything in the face while it’s down.

I literally just finished a game where a shroud zealot was using it to stop horde spawns from reaching the rest of the team while they dealt with other things, repositioning to take out ranged enemies, and take out a big target when he had to. It’s not bad at all, you just need to readjust how you use it now that it doesn’t have an unintended exploit available to it.

Stealth has always been that one skill tree where everyone on your team thinks you’re insufferable because you keep running away from the team while everyone else takes aggro. Anyone can delete a bunch of enemies while you literally cannot be targeted and your team takes all the heat. I honestly believe like others have said, shroudfield is about as good as it was before, but you just don’t have the options you had before. Instead of using skill to get two attacks off, the game gives you a bunch of bonus damage so you get the damage of two attacks, I don’t like this because I liked to split the damage between two enemies a lot of times. It’s just a completely braindead ability now.

I also have to disagree, executioner’s stance has been one of vet’s weakest options for years, anyone using it I assumed didn’t know better or was trolling. Vet class has been a joke for a long time actually, it’s good they gave them a little bit of a buff, I do have to say vet stealth is a bit better but yeah executioner’s stance will always be a stupid option to me in a game where melee is so important. There’s basically no situation where shout or stealth won’t at least be somewhat useful, while there are many situations where executioner’s stance will do nothing and you’ll die because of it.

even? that is zealots only combat ability and i expect you to respect it!!!

It is a great ability, but I always liked shroudfield more just because it was fun to double attack, and not the conventional way to use the ability.

Long live Mr.E’s Rat King build. Busted as shite but fun as hell.

I don’t think there’s anyway to make it competitive with the other two skills without making it OP. One strike, two strikes, doesn’t really matter when you’re comparing it to the infinite cleave AoE stagger/shield generator you could have been. But what else can be done without running into a Shade situation that can delete an entire Chaos Warrior/Storm Vermin patrol single-handedly?

I use it with braced auto “machinegun specialist” meme build. Never’ve been below average damage/kill-wise on any squad in Damnation.

After using the ability more I will say it’s literally the same as before. I say this because not only do you do more damage than before but if you take the node that lets you have -75% threat after coming out of shroudfield, you have way more than the 2 hits you were limited to before with the shroudfield tech. Now you can do the same amount of damage and continue to wail on the enemies for like 5 seconds with extra backstab damage before you get attacked by anything.

Really the only difference is you aren’t forced to use the tech to do max damage, it just does an insane amount of damage for you, and it’s a lot easier to use now. I do still miss the double attack and think it was better, more skillful and fun.

I like new version more, you get way more surviveability after leaving stealth and with new nodes it do more damage, yesterday i stabbed burgle in auric with knife for half of his health. Overall it feels so much better when zealot is out of stealth.
