Attacks already in motion when Shroudfield ability is activated benefit from Shroudfield bonuses without ending ability

Issue Type (Required):

Talents

Issue Description (Required):

An issue with Shroudfield can be exploited to boost more than the one intended attack by activating Shroudfield while an attack is already playing out.

Steps to Reproduce (Required):

  1. In Psykhanium, perform an attack that will hit an enemy. For best results, select options which will greatly benefit from Shroudfield’s bonuses, such as a Combat Knife with a Strikedown Heavy Attack.
  2. While the weapon is being swung from the attack, but BEFORE hitting the enemy, activate Shroudfield.
  3. Allow the attack to connect with the enemy at this point. You should notice that the attack receives Shroudfield’s bonuses.
  4. While Shroudfield is still active, attack anything else. It should receive Shroudfield’s bonuses.

Reproduction Rate (Required):

Constant (100%)

Platform (Required):

PC - Steam

For those wondering, this behavior is intended: There is a 0.5 second grace window in which invisibility does not end for any action that would have ended invisibility otherwise.

The same applies to Veteran’s Infiltrate.

kuli is correct, not sure why this was marked as “acknowledged”. hopefully it won’t be changed since server delay can completely nuke shroudfield/infiltrate if this grace is removed. it makes sense to remove the damage buff grace if fatshark doesn’t want this mechanic/tech to stay but I hope they don’t remove the actual stealth mechanic grace.

Acknowledged just means it’s been added to the spreadsheet. Deciding if it is a real bug takes longer.

The action not canceling early due to a poorly timed attack event (for whatever reason causes it) is intended. Being able to benefit twice or more from Shroudfield’s damage buff certainly is not.

Players are typically not using Shroudfield’s damage bonuses for light melee attacks or ranged attacks–they’re using it to get the most out of a situation-critical heavy attack.

Propose that “intended” behavior is that only the action that successfully ends Shroudfield should receive the damage bonuses.
