On Ogryn, any Blessings related to melee Crits are noob traps

Ogryn’s got the lowest base critical chance (2.5%) of all the classes.

The Ogryn’s melee weapons have the lowest Crit damage multipliers, ranging from a measly x1.12, to a mediocre x1.33 (the Cleavers’ Strikedown attacks).

In general, Vanguard and Relentless attacks all reside within the range of x1.12 to x1.20 ; most Strikedown attacks peak at about x1.30 to x1.35.

There’s no Crit synergy for melee Ogryns in the talent tree ; Massacre and Lucky Streak, due to their placement, are clearly meant to improve ranged crits, although they coincidentally apply in melee.

So, wouldn’t you agree that all the Crit-related blessings on the Ogryn’s melee weapons are just pointless noob traps ? For example, why should anyone pick Sucker Punch over Skullcrusher or Bromentum on shovels ? Even on Cleavers, it seems preferable to use Tenderiser over Bash.

i dont.
then again, crit or no melee ogryn isnt wanting for damage.

never figured the big man to be a very finesse driven guy so the idea of crit focusing him wasnt even a thing.

on the other hand, rather than getting compared to human classes crit based, he could get some berserk-rage kinda thing, build around real weapon combos instead of just light and heavy alternations.

special attacks on knifes for example have some fun way of mixing up the otherwise bland mashing.
let the slab grab em punies and rip em apart or slice in half head to toe for some rage dmg bonus/bloodlust.

the more real combos you stack the better the output.

me wanna smash to pulp not look for weakspots, punies weak already, bones n all

Just smash and bonk and stomp to paste!

Old blessings on launch weapons were just designed to inflate the pool so you had to keep rerolling to try and get a good weapon. It’s the same thing on the Thunder Hammer, it has 3 actually usable blessings and 7 slot wasters. Since the crafting rework there’s no point for these blessings but as you said as vestigial noob traps.

Just sayin’

Give us knuckle dusters already, Fatshark!

These are definitely great boosts with lucky streak, problem is this is the only useful application for the node besides the freaking ripper gun which is extremely mediocre despite how much I love it, and as you mention this is deep on the ranged side. All of the actual design elements of the trees are starting to feel dated as classes get added with numerous different buffs of all styles in all directions on the tree (like melee boosts being on all 3 of scum’s bottom lanes to keystone). But yeah ‘sucker punch’ was a horrible addition when ogryn could have gotten some decent blessings added, its funny that some of these blessings were part of an overhaul to the blessing system and we got traj with less purpose than some of the launch blessings. At least if it was present at launch I could have argued it was there to enable Perfect Strike to function, but it wasn’t.

Au contraire. They’re there to pad out the mastery system. That’s why they added more pointless blessings to some weapons.

I thought it was a well known knowledge

I guess my gripe is that, on any other class, these melee crit blessings would probably be decent B-tier blessings ; but the sheer absence of synergy with the Ogryn’s melee talents and melee weapons make this a big trap for any “new” player who did not bother Inspecting the damage values of melee weapons. Which I suspect is a lot of people.

So, my complaint is that this problem is more on the game designers’ side, rather than players making dumb mistakes while creating their builds.

As I said earlier, cleavers should be reworked into crit-based finesse weapons.

Inb4 that one guy comes in and says that “cleaver is the best weapon because of one bugged blessing”

It ain’t bugged though, unstoppable force has all of 3 buffs and 2 of them only activate on an auto release full charged heavy. Cleaving hit stop is basically all it does because full charge heavies are worthless.

And the cleavers are definitely good, kinda feel like playing havoc with one if rotten armor is up.

seems bugged to me

make a bug report then

and then wait 2 years and fatshark will ‘fix’ it

I personally don’t see anything bugged about it myself, just a typical misleading fatshark description

‘hello fat shark this blessing isn’t weak enough’

if anything it needs more

Ignoring all hit mass on all heavy attacks is definetely not by design. Bromentum is already broken as hell, but it at least has you to kill one mob with a weakspot attack to trigger it.

Unstoppable Force is largely unknown because it’s only on the weakest Ogryn melee weapon class plagued with terrible blessings (as OP said earlier), so no surprise nobody cares about it.

If we talk about good game design, a lot of blessings that allow you to ignore mechanics like armor or hit mass shouldn’t have existed in the first place, as well as brain-dead must pick ones like Skullcrusher.

I wouldn’t call it the best weapon but bullbutcher is my favorite weapon, I just love tenderiser punching snivelers into space.

Again it doesn’t even do that much, a lot of people genuinely need to learn what the buffs even do before commenting on the quality of the design. Without fully charging a heavy attack (like 3s of holding a move) the only thing this blessing does is stop shields and carapace from blocking your heavy swing. It won’t won’t damage the shield enemies. If this is the level of a broken blessing to you its amazing that this is such a problem over literally everything else in the game. Crushers have too much hitmass to be cleaved with strikedown heavies on cleaver even with this buff. It is literally just so Mk6 can spam its sweep heavies over and over, and even then its still the worst cleaver by a significant margin.

No, what happened is people explained how it worked and then you got mad that you literally never considered that and now think obviously its because the game is broken WAH. It couldn’t be any more sad. Especially considering unstoppable force cleaver wasn’t even remotely meta or strong in the rotten armor havoc environment in which that loadout was forged. Now its completely irrelevant, since crushers spawn maybe 20 a game and you can beat shield goons as ogg effortlessly as it is.

No idea why you got so mad, as I said, that one bugged blessing that is mid at best even when bugged on a bad weapon doesn’t make it “one of the best” or “the best” as some folks are trying to claim and pretend to balance the game around it (aka cleavers are good and don’t need any changes, which is a load of BS)

Ignoring hitmass IS a big deal tho, not just Crushers and Bullwarks, it makes you cleave through mixed hordes with Maulers/Scab Ragers as well. If it was on anything else, people would lose their minds over it.

I’m not the one confused with what a bug actually means, or what a balance issue would entail. I’m not the one upset that Fat Shark’s unwritten language made me look foolish on the forum one time and now I need to make a campaign against one of the lowest tier blessings in the game because it hurt my brain.

And again it ignores hitmass on a heavy attack you charged for 3s only. Do you auto release attacks even in auric? They are totally unviable.
