This. I would also say that adding a new map at the same time would help amplify the hype by a lot. One of the most common complaints I see from people who have left is that they just ran out of content, so hearing ā€œnew mapā€ is gonna turn heads.

Theyā€™ve had videos for most of the other major patches. Looking it up, it was for Patches #1, 4, 6, 9, and 10. Weā€™ve already had a teaser for #13 which no other patch got so Iā€™d expect a full video, probably next week, 1 week out, and hopefully, the promised devblog sometime this week.

It is too bad though. I feel like with all the overhauls there would have been enough content to sprinkle some over each week since the teaser at least. They could have done a showcase and breakdown for each archetype and that wouldā€™ve been neat.

On the other hand, getting next to nothing about it beforehand and just exploring it yourself on the day of has itā€™s own charm.

well, Iā€™m going to be traveling for canuck thanksgiving so I was hoping for as much predigested as possible for the 2 days Iā€™ll get before Iā€™m gone for like a week. hopefully my console friends grind their characters hard and they have double XP up.

Info would be nice because the closer we get the more it seems like it might even get delayed.

Itā€™s Fatshark, their usual pattern seems to be to release details of the patch the week before no? I suspect this will be the same. I donā€™t know why this is how they do things but I think the success of the patch when it arrives itself is more likely to be the factor that draws people back into the game rather than how they advertise it (people are reasonably sceptical of hype mongering until itā€™s actually substantiated).

If we donā€™t get a devblog this week then I would guess that it simply isnt done and ready to be sent to the CM. We know FS has trouble meeting deadlines which is why I was super surprised that they had set one for this update, and that it was so close to the release of Siennaā€™s last class for VT2 where they will compete with each other. But I would argue that due to their silence, there is more hype for VT2 right now than for DT.
