Ogryn weapons suggestions

Hello there,

Since I play Ogryn most of the time and I have seen Zealots burning the followers of Nurgle with Flamethrowers, I would like to suggest two weapons for the Ogryn (And there is no suggestion category on this forum).

The first weapon would be the Heavy Flamer:

  • Good AoE damage
  • Have it function like the Zealot flamer, the first attack being a puff and the second being continuous holy fire
  • The special attack can be the Ogryn punch
  • The fire should stagger most enemies except bosses and corrupted Ogryns

And the second weapon being the Power Fist:

  • There can be one or two variations of this weapon, one being anti-horde and the second being single target heavy hitter
  • The attacks should have some cleave (Attacking from right to left, the second strike from left to right and perhaps the third strike being an overhead hit)
  • Special attack: Charge up - after hitting and killing an enemy, that enemy will explode with electricity dealing small AoE damage and stagger
  • Charge attack: Forward punch

Of course, those are two of my weird weapon ideas for the Ogryn, I know they might not be considered for future patches/DLC’s but I wished to share them with everyone.
Also, the Power fist idea comes from the fact that Games Workshop has released Servitor Ogryns with Augmetic fists, which function practically the same as a Power Fist (if I remember correctly).

Ogryns are abhumans so they are not allowed to use any Weapons created by the Adeptus Mechanicus, which throws the powerfist out of the window. And secondly they are to dumb hat the ones that can count their fingers (and the count does not necessarily have to add up to 5) are considered “Super smart”… Which is why their guns usually are 1 shot or have a hard wired burst mode. The Stubber is the only exception to that…

They should rather get some propper 2handed Maul or something similar.

You might be right about the Ogryns not being allowed to use weapons created by Adeptus Mechanicus, but as I mentioned above, there are Ogryns equipped with Augumentic fists which should basically work the same as a Power fist.
Above all these, we are part of the Inquisition now, I bet we can get away with some tech heresy (It will not be the first time).

And about the intelligence level of the Ogryn, it is quite a weird topic to discuss since the Ogryn we are playing is perhaps smarter than a regular Bone’ead. He has shown a great level of understanding in terms of orders, he is able to somewhat speak properly (obviously he still stutters), he is also capable of using various machinery during missions (the puzzles, the medicae station). The Heavy Flamer can enter the category of a Gun Lugger, of course when that class/specialization will be added.

I totaly agree with you on the “smartnes” of our Ogryn. He is defnitely amongst the brightest in the bunch. Pretty much the Einstein of Ogryns!

And Sorry i associated the Powerfist with the version used by Spacemarines or some Kommissars. But you are right their powerclaws or however you would call them would make a great addition to the game.

I’m still not sure if i would like to see a Ogryn hauling a heavy flamer…

It’s ok, since there are many variations of Power fists, Power claws, and Augumentic fists. It depends on what GW wishes and allows to be added.

And regarding the flamer… Some people want to play Space Hulk Deathwing in Darktide and since we don’t have Terminators, Ogryns will do the job.
Also, more weapons = more fun overall

It should still stay within the boundaries of the lore. I would hate to see a Ogryn with a Stormbolter, Lascannon or Assaultcannon etc as it just would not fit. Rather give them some heavy autocannon (long range single target), Powermaul, Powerclaw etc.

one idea. 3~4 round High caliber Magnum Revolver. they can reload kickback just fine, so make a gun that automatically rejects spend rounds. so what oyryn needs to do is just fill out the empty holes.
and except for grenade launchers, ogryn doesn’t have Anti-armor-long-range weapons. so… make it armor-piercing.
