So the new map is out along with new weapons, and we finally have concrete info about the coming itemization rework.
However, with both these news being delivered consecutively, personally i find it hard to motivate myself to try any of those weapons before the rework (which is gonna be a f*cking while).
Having not played much in months before the latest patch, why would I (or any of you for that matter) spend those resources I’ve accumulated, when the acquisition of said weapons is going to be significantly easier?
I know, i know, having fun should be the priority and if you or I don’t have fun, just find something else to do.
But here’s the thing.
It would seem, the initial plan was to bring us the amazing Machine God update along with the rework. And it would have been a glorious update indeed, but in typical Fatshark fashion, that plan didn’t work, so now they’re picking up the pieces.
sigh
Communication is good and i do commend them on their honesty in this matter, but in my opinion, it’s all such a big disappointment. And for me, this affects enjoyment of the game itself and the desire to play it.
We get new stuff to play with, but you still have to spend all the dockets to get anything good. We’ll get locks removed, but ah-ah-ah, first you have to wait some more. We’ll get a new system for unlocking blessings and such, but first you have to grind missions. You get communication, but it’s not the communication you wanted.
A constant push and pull, it seems.
So here’s my questions to you:
Are you going to try all the weapons and enjoy the new content before the rework? Have you been enjoying it?
What do you think of the itemization that was promised? (Game of Thrones pun)
Ill try it just for giggles but im not happy in their direction as they seem brain dead giving us this poop sandwich This is the same with the item update. Its even worse when they listen to the vocal small minority shelling out for bad ideas. Theres a famous saying going around abbout fatshark/darktide, expect nothing and still get disappointed
U know - there is possibility to achieve fresh wind of new players. As i can see - itemization is not about Jon Darktide level old players, but for new, blessed acolites.
Going to be consecrating a TON of shock mauls and picks tbh. Want those blessings in the library before the rework.
I like the stuff they’ve outlined but am a little wary of it being another gated grind. If it takes more than 2-3 successful Damnation runs to get Mastery for a given weapon near to max imma give up.
Yes, they definitely require new blood. And both the rework and the penance system are targeted towards them.
But like… if one was to read steam forums and reviews, i doubt they’d choose to pick this game up, honestly. It would have to be as cheap as Vermintide.
None of the new weapons were terribly interesting to me to begin with. I’m not playing a 40k game to wield a double barrel shotgun or pickaxe, maybe Fallout or RDR2 or DRG, but not 40k. Also just not a huge fan if pistols so the new bolt pistol doesnt do it for me.
That said, deffo not attempting to grind anything until the new itemization hits. Havent done so for many months, I can totally wait a bit longer.
I definitely don’t expect it’s gonna be as short as 3 damnation runs. But there’s a lot of info about the rework they haven’t told us. @CommanderJ certainly has a pretty doom and gloom attitude towards it, from what i can gather from the discussion in the dev blog.
I’ve read someone in discord dropping 6-8 hours based on some alledged interview. Which I find believable. If the lvl 30 grind is anything to go by it’ll be probably be that much. That’s be 10-16 damnation games with a 30 min average.
Add hat to the possibly additional RNG layer with weapon potential and I feel like this is just like the pre release interview. Fool me once and all…
Don’t forget that you have to first unlock mastery to be allowed to even use higher tier blessings and perks. Then you need to grind and spend resources to expertise one specific weapon to be able to actually put the earned blessings onto it.
Jokes aside, I really hope they won’t make it worse. I like the new system more than what we have now, and I really hope they’ll improve it further. The fact that they told us exactly what they’re trying to do few months in advance gives me hope. Plenty of time for the feedback.
Honestly your call… if you don’t want to play with them, wait. By the time they will release the patch, I would have all the weapons I want to test and would have made again a good stock pile…
I mean i realistically just don’t see a reason for me to try it before the rework to be honest.
Maybe after an update or two i would give them a whirl but i would rather just have a grind even if it’s a slower one than subject myself to slot machine hell again.
Frankly, I don’t care about the new weapons. They’re nice and all, but it’s the crafting/itemization that is going to make or break the game for me. I haven’t played this game in over a year because of how rubbish the current itemization is.
I’m perfectly fine with them taking their time with it, to make sure that when they release it, it isn’t a complete disaster. I’m not going to be installing the game until that rolls in, and frankly if they botch this one by making the grind take forever I’m going to be just hiding the game.
