Looting is fun when it’s worthwhile. There’s not really any reason to loot after a certain point, so a lot of people just don’t do it.
Blame the crafting system.

when you watch their weapons after the game you realize immediately why that is
to be autistic about loot like myself is frowned upon
i think i even got kicked out for looting, and ‘‘not sticking with the team’’
but they can go to hell as far as i’m concerned, i’ll keep doing my thing
that would just cause toxicity from people calling everybody resource hogs. nobody needs that
i dont worry either way, anything below auric maelstrom isnt scratching that itch anymore so i pass even on these damnation repair missions i still need a few of for that final mission trinket thingie.
plus anyone joining auric maelstrom needs to know what he’s getting into. i dont mind someone dropping now and then but i surely dont hold back on anyones behalf.
so far it works, i’d say, 80/20 with the 20 like said above doomed from the start. you wanna look it up, i just uploaded some 30 recent matches.
stuffs there to be picked up, if i only make it through by the skin of my teeth sticking to the road i should rethink the difficulty and load i put on others.
if by chance someone is bored out of his noggins and therefore doesnt loot, i can understand somehow, still my compulsion orders me to do the opposite
The easy solution would be to just be awarded the maximum amount of mats upon completion and to be given a partial (mission progress dependant) reward upon failure.
But we gotta pad playtime numbers sooo…
Until crafting is fixed there is no need to collect crafting materials. I just don’t bother. When I played the game I would pick stuff up out of habit, but you can’t blame anyone who just leaves the crafting system on the floor entirely. It’s not worth engaging with in its current state.
Solution to all problems, thank you.

Corse they’re ignoring looting. Engaging with Darktide’s grind isn’t fun.
It’s not even just that the rewards aren’t worth it. It’s that the itemization sucks so much, and so wholeheartedly, that once folks get something kind of alright they just stop.
Are weapons with the right blessings amd stats super fun and different? Yes. But Darktide is so intentionally stingy with handing out anything fun outside of the core combat that people simply don’t want to engage with the grind because it stinks, it isn’t fun, it’s worse than worthless and is an active detriment to having fun.
People aren’t looting because they’re playing DT in spite of the awful itemization that the plasteel is supposed to feed. Frankly i’ve been passing by plasteel as well, I hate gambling for sport and that’s what this slot machine is.
TLDR: People are avoiding plasteel because the itemization system it’s supposed to feed isn’t fun or rewarding and usually just eats up your resources and spits out slop. It’s literally near worthless until we can spend it on something concrete.
Fautive is a dynamic and lively serif, imbued with an exaggerated personality and a playful appearance.
I didn’t read through the entire thread. The initial post sounded incredibly entitled.
I’ll tell you why I don’t really care to look for loot: I hate interacting with this game’s systems. I have almost everything I need and I received absolutely no enjoyment of constantly looting items in the map like I’m in a crappy survival game.
I don’t like the crafting system either, but this is what we have. It is part of the game loop.
It sucks, we get it.
It would not be such a burden if all 4 players in the lobby press the interact button to pick up stuff they walk past. Because this is what’s happening. Noone gives a f.
And I’m here, as a very entitled person, collecting all the mats like a slave, because apparently pressing the E button is too demanding for the average darktide gamer.
Tbh this is what I really love about pubs in darktide.
If it’s me and 3 others the games easy and only fail when we all make mistakes at a really bad time.
If it’s me and a people still learning the mode and making mistakes you have wild games that give you adrenaline since it might be a 2 man rescue squad for half a mission.
Or you have to try soloing multiple mini bosses with only 2-3 people and it goes bad fast.
Doesn’t matter that we all died just that we tried our best.
The lore is we drop into suicide missions anyway.
That would be the dream. I’d welcome “no rewards on defeat” if it meant I don’t have to scurry around looking, looting.
I also have noticed more players not looting.
I keep doing it anyway unless a speedrunner complains.
in vt2, I spent quite a bit of time cycling through all the different weapons to see which ones I ‘vibed’ with best. I eventually landed on the few that I like, then just stuck with those, and it didn’t stop me from playing nearly 2k hours. I don’t have that freedom here. I can’t go through the different combinations of weapons/blessings as I see fit, so I’ve been restricted in my vibe hunt. The other half is that I really just get turned off by the system in general. I disengage from things that try to take advantage of me. It’s a two-pronged attack.
wait your asking for the game to be made easier or more convenient?
ya i dont think that will happen, not in the business model
It mostly comes down to the game being p*ss easy, where anyone seasoned enough can do whatever the fk they want.
There are very few situations that forces you to work as a team, and as such, newer players having no experience and rather bad at it, were the need ever arise.
When was playing, looted everything. But Borderlands conditioned me to be a scavenger of every box, trashcan, dumpster, locker. Hoping the update will bring me back to enjoying what could have been an exceptional game. If not for lack of meaningful crafting & content.
Come on FS your move.
Let’s just say that if someone doesn’t run around and loot, that person doesn’t need it, and that’s the majority of them (I’m one of them). Even in those days when I purposefully farmed plastic, it got to me after 4-5 missions and I just took whatever came my way. I don’t see a problem, especially if you’re complaining about people on auric mael. The goal there is to play, not to farm, if you want to farm, gather a team and go, if you don’t want to, just accept it, no one will be waiting for you. And whoever wanted to have already farmed everything, I have 25kk/320k/130k, I just have nowhere to spend resources
I only craft when a T5 mission drops a good stat weapon with 2 perks/blessings desired so I can choose last 2 without RNG.
As result stacking Plasteel near 800K and not hit limit yet. Overkill but I still pick it up out of courtesy anyway to benefit team mates who still want Plasteel. But yea I don’t try to 100% find everything at expense of leaving whole team ahead of me and playing catchup. Small deviation here and there is OK.
