If it’s not scribe I will riot
First off were ordo hereticus, that actually fits better but doesn’t matter lol.
The issue isn’t that Zealot is a sororitas repentia, the issue is that zealot is literally in all but name a sororitas novitiate. There is no archetype you could add for a sister that doesnt overlap with the zealot. And the issue there is that they would just be making zealot+, they will have all the same weapons with the only argument being that they could get heavy versions. The bolter and flamer are already extremely good, do you really want a heavy flamer and heavy bolter in the game? I just don’t see it working.
Never mind the fact sisters are pretty high on the power scale there. Really a skitarii alpha primus is probably too much already for what the game initially set out as. But a sister would be another step up. I mean they have power armor, arbitrators have “power armor” sisters have actual power armor, how are you going to represent a class that needs to be more tanky then arbitrator and deal more damage then zealot and make that balanced?
I’m not very sold on the idea that they’ll do a Beastman (what unique weapons would it even have?) or Sister of Battle (I know people stan for it, but I think it’s unlikely) or Ratling (again, hard to find unique weapons, kinda too small) . . .
My best guess is Eldar Corsairs. We know there’s an Eldar ship in the system, which means they have a reason for being there. Perhaps there’s something important on or about Tertium that they care about. It doesn’t strike me as impossible that Grendyl might make some kind of deal with them. A lot of existing weapons could be used by Eldar, since they use their own forms of them, but they also have very unique weapons of their own.
They also have a wow factor that no other idea I’ve heard thrown around (aside from SoB) possess; if there is another class, it’s gonna be hard to make them not seem lame in comparison to the Skitarii.
I could see a case for a Sister of Battle in power armor playing an Ogryn-like role on the team. The power armor allows you to tank a lot of damage, push horde aside, and swing a large power weapon around. You could also carry things like a power-shield, or a heavy flamer, or a heavy bolter. You could possibly even use an Iron Halo (almost like a psyker-bubble that follows you around) or Rosarius (could be their special ability). It would not be all that unique playstyle-wise since it would basically be a zealot-themed Ogryn, with a unique weapon and ability set, but it could work. Tbh I even like the idea.
I doubt we’ll see it though.
Could use direct tabletop ratio. Looks ok to me tbh!
Am I the only one deeply uninspired by the prospect of sister of battle class? Again, gameplay wise they could make anything fun I am sure but it feels so damn close to zealot that I cannot be excited by it.
I want something REALLY different to all the rest, that totally changes the way you have to play. This is why I am very keen on the foul mouthed space hobbits.
Necron in a trenchcoat!
I wont say Hydrogen bomb to a knife, but that is at least an assault rifle to a knife fight. Eldar are space marine equivalents. Yes our characters are power crept to the moon but the game still at least pretends we are just a elite kill team. Including eldar would be a big leap in our power scale beyond even a sister and I think a sister is too much. Hell skitarii alpha primus is a bit too much already.
Think mini ogryn crossed with hive scum. Like a giant scrap blade, some sort of scrapped together heavy machine gun, maybe a grenade launcher. Just like big madmax style weaponry. At least if they go with the beastman heard that lives off scraps in the wastes vibe. I think there is plenty you could do with that.
Well tabletop scale is all over the place lol. Ratlings are definitely too big in tabletop scale but its for gameplay reasons and most models aren’t really too scale anyways so its fine enough. Like they could do it but I feel like they wouldn’t seem particularly short in game like that.
Exactly my point
same could be used in a videogame and their scale looks pretty good in these. They don’t look too big nor too small imo.
Eldar are a lot less durable though which matters in this sort of combat.
Or psyker.
What? Looks like a normal human to me, he’s quiet, efficient, and he doesn’t eat our rashuns. A real team player.
“those new skitarii with glowing green chests are particularly dour!” lol
Yeah though if you really wanted to represent them properly they would need to have some sort of auto parry ability or something. Plus they still have pretty good power armor.
Metal-men, not very tasty. But some of them are wrapped in bacon, VERY tasty!
We’ve just got a new class. I’d like to see new maps and guns and rebalancing existing guns first.
I mean yeah. But they have confirmed that they are working on another class. Im just speculating on what it will be.
This is very unlikley because everything covered by Deathcult is in Zealot Shroud and Dash builds. The final nail in the coffin of deathcult is the cosmetics they released. that wad dethcult themed, insinuating taht zealot is deathcult. and honesly deathcult would not really have anything new. We need new mechanics:
- Pet for Arbites
- Dual weilding for scum
- Dynamic tree for skitari
like you need something new here. Not just zealot but better. makes no sense, I say this as somone that loves deathcult and would love that skimpy outfits they wear, but at this point would be a waste of a class.
This I agree with, and i feel like would fit well and is unique enough for people to be intersted in shilling out for a class. Horn customization, and unique weapons only they can weild. and overall their reject persona would fit right in.
A sister of battle in training, like Hestia could make sense. We also tend to have classes that match an NPC on the mourning star.
A death cult assassin could make sense though Zealot steps on its shoes.
A cold trader with some Eldar/Drukhari/Necron/Tau weaponry could make sense to me (reporting to swagger).
If we’re talking opposites to Skitarii maybe something aligned with the biological part of the adeptus mechanicus with the Magos Biologist. Kharib has been mentioned in the game. They make clones and gland warriors and such.
There’s also the Votann, who do work as mercenaries for the Imperium at times.
Owl cat has you play an Inquisitor in 40K for their next game and they have, as party members, an Eldar and a kroot. Though I think it depends whether you play a radical Inquisitor or not, and whether we think Rannick/Grendyl is one.
No. Maybe more true on launch but zealot is a DPS tank not a fast nimble assassin. Zealot is partially inspired by deathcult assassins but definitly is not even remotely close to a deathcult assassin. A deathcult assassin would be like melee exclusive hive scum. That is also what would make it unique, it would be melee exclusive and have a pretty unique selection of weapons, maybe even thrown weapons for the second slot or just two melee weapons.
Also they are many types of deathcult assassins, there isnt one type. So it is easily possible for a deathcult assassin to be like zealot but that isnt what the vast majority are like. But also the cosmetic for zealot isnt deathcult its just another thing that is similar to deathcult.
Overall deathcults are way more martial arts and melee focused then stealth focused really. Saying that because zealot has a stealth ability that completely overlaps with death cult is pretty silly.
TLDR: These are not the same thing.
But what ist he difference between that and a zealot?
again, they even have cosmetics for it on zealot, its just zealot but a bit better. makes no sense to invest on this niche.
Intersting and worth the consideration.
Very much hope its this. Because they can weirld unique weapons and their abilities can be different than normal humans, but to have them in mass would be weird.
I still think there is a lot more overlap than there is difference and we cannot make it the way you think we can. Some unique thing that would be so different its no longer dethcult. might as well be something else more unique - like some xenos or beastmen.
My ultimate vote would be beastmen, so that we can also introduce them as enemies as ewll. you make the model and now you can have beastmen enemies as well. One stone, two birds kind of thing.
