Some of those wouldn’t work lorewise (and mechanically too for certain of them).

Charonite Claws for example don’t exist in 40k, as they are forbidden tech, as well as being augmentics, which on a mission to mission basis isn’t a problem, but inside a mission is, due to not letting them use ranged weapons, or using their hands for parts where they are required (Hacking, ladders…)

(Same thing apply to Arco Flagellant whips)

Why not simply use Hammerhand/Steel Arm, as it’s a Psyker Biomancy technique, though tbh I think it work better as part of a weapon kit, reusing Sienna’s Fire Sword as base to make the weapon set.

Those only exist for the SoB due to needing a Power Armour to even be able to use them.

Which are not gonna be possible, due to being exclusive to Vindicator.

For the Dual/Paired weapons I don’t think we need that many of them. And they should pick carefully which sets they do.

Dual Flails sound like a mess to animate.

We’re crackheads nearly on the level of Sly Marbo, wielding a Heavy Bolter unaugmented like Harker should be no problem.

My idea is to give our PSYKERS access to aeldari weapons such as the DARK REAPER LAUNCHER :relieved:

All joking aside, there have been some seriously cool weapon ideas showing up on the forums again, of late. I love reading them! I think some have been mentioned before in the past, but since the game was like, you know, a bit of a defcon 5 situation back then, this is probably a better time to be throwing ideas around.

I’d quite to see some sort of primative flail for Ogryn… Basically just a cannonball on the end of a massive chain that he can swing about :smiling_face:

I wish Eldar were represted in 40k videogame way more. They would be so fun and always ignored for boring chaos.

Yeah maybe if they didnt doom the entire galaxy by messing up the war in heaven and summoning 4 chaos gods by being degens they would get games

We have an obscene lore breaking amount of thunder hammers and power swords being wielded by “rejects”. I don’t think a lot of my choices are out of the realm of possibilities with things like that considered. That being said, it’s why I put “inconsistent with lore/needs to be GW approved” for a few(missed a couple though). Again, we have crack head zealots killing hundreds of enemies with just a shank, Ogryns using range weapons without burst limiters, plasma guns and Bolters being wielded by ex convict “rejects”, we have 4 mortal nobodies somehow murdering 2,000 plus nurgle worshippers without dying of all sorts of diseases/corruption/logic/lore accurate power scaling, etc. We also have giant 2 handed weapons being placed into our invisible purses while we use our hands for different things in game, so I don’t see why they couldn’t do the same for things like the Arco-Flagellant whips(it’s a video game). My suggestions are not out of the realm of possibilities for this specific game, and especially with the inconsistencies within GW’s ever changing lore.

I think an eldar “captive”, mercenary, war prisoner, etc. is a possibility for a future class/character. So I don’t think Eldar weapons are out of the realm of possibilities, but only if that happens. I’ve seen people suggest an ork mercenary or captive as a potential class/character, so I guess they could figure out a way to explain an eldar as well. They hand waved a lot of lore for some of careers in Vermintide 2 as well. So yeah, maybe we will get an Eldar in the future with some cool eldar weapons.

@Manlikepegasus I’d love to see any other creature be put into the game as a playable character, but wouldn’t it be even more ridiculous than the rest of the things that aren’t exactly lore friendly? As in, there’s an inquisitor present also, chances are that alone wouldn’t make it possible. But even so I think the Imperium only lets the Xenos exist or cooperate with them in the most dire of the situations in 40K. As a matter of principle ofc, I doubt anyone would consider it to be a threat to the Imperium that a single Orc captive would be used to do dirty work missions .

Give me the long las from the scab sniper and the two LMGs from the Dreg/Scab gunners.

Yeah long las, hellgun and the human sized stubber are bogarted by the heretics atm. I’ll trade them Ripperguns for shotgun Ogryn elite enemies if we could have those 3.

Slaneesh and the Eye of Terror were the same event, so yeah you can blame space elves for ruining the setting (again).

Slaanesh coalescing is what cause the EoT. The other 3 happened before that (And no the old lore Nurgle born during the Black Plague isn’t possible as it’s coalescing moment, but is the moment Humanity was noticed by Nurgle, same thing for the other 2

There’s a lot of weapons that could be added, the 40k universe is replete with them.

Many of them however I don’t think fit Darktide, for one of three reasons.

First, there’s already a lot of weapons in this game, and a lot of variants of each, and trying to introduce new stuff that doesn’t step on those toes and either just duplicate or one-up existing will be increasingly difficult. So if we wanted to do a Long Las for instance, what would it do that a Lucius would not? Do we need more Lasrifles when the 9 we’ve already got don’t see enough use?

Second, the Rejects are just that, Rejects. They’re not Inquisitorial Stormtroopers, they’re not Astartes, they’re not Sororitas, they’re not even Munitorum-supplied Guardsmen. The Rejects are prisoners under suspended sentence of death operating as cannon-fodder in the personal employ of Inquisitor Grendyl in his own private war. While the reach and remit of the Inquisition is beyond limit, the Rejects aren’t beneficiaries of that power, they’re Consumables just like ammunition. There’s just certain things that aren’t going to folks like that.

Third, the scale that Darktide plays at is not the scale 40k is typically played at, the biggest and scariest things in Darktide aren’t even proper monsters, stuff like plague ogryn and spawn, they’re just big infantry as far as 40k is concerned. As a result, with no proper vehicle targets to really shine against, it’s hard to imagine a Meltagun being anything other than a painfully short ranged and slow firing Plasma Gun, which doesn’t sound very fun.

For me, if we’re going to add weapons, they should be bringing something genuinely new to the table, not just another variant of something we already have. If the Shock Maul had included a Shield for instance, that would have been a dramatically more interesting gameplay addition. Duel-wield weapons that can do new things like block and attack at the same time and introduce genuinely new melee combat would be fun. A Grenade Launcher for the Veteran could be neat.
