A lot of it is psychological too. By capping stats at 80% they are intentionally letting you know that you have an imperfect weapon.
It’s the same kind of thing where MMOs don’t penalise you and reduce your XP gain after playing for some time, you get a “bonus” increased gain for some time instead, even though the before and after rates are exactly the same. Just a matter of framing it differently.
It’s good that Fatshark is bad at that kind of framing since it’s usually used to hide all sorts of BS, but it’s also a bad look for Fatshark that they would leave things as they are.
The big mistake is obviously leaving room for a new tier of power. Even red items from the previous -Tide games were either side grades or combined cosmetics/quality of life, they had the same base stats as oranges.
Actually either of those axes at the rank is fine for Damnation. Get good perks on an Item with reasonable blessings and Damnation is easy as long as you play co-operatively. Issue is everyone wants the pure min/max to be the Best of the Best. With no scoreboard what does that matter? If you finish the map, didn’t go down, finished side objectives and make 200 mats a piece, you did your job well.
That’s, exactly the point… And this is ridiculous to say that the system, we will get, won’t give any good weapon cause you won’t get get the perfect weapon with 2 blessings T4…
No I won’t. I am actually happy for you.
When it comes, I will also try to craft an other axe with better modifiers.
I want to keep thrust, cause it is my crusher killer. The one where I want to put BM is really good to kill crushers. Yes, I know that removing thunderous could impact it.
But I will, at least try. I prefer a versatile axe.
I have headtaker T3 (something good enough), but I don’t think it is needed… at least in heresy. True in damnation the poxwalkers need 2 hits… here it would be something great… maybe I need several axes
Easy. You buy several from the shop and keep only the good ones…
For the “the system will continue being trash”, let’s use it before making such assertions.
It’s a sad thing when your endgame game loop is:
1/check external pluggin for loot in shop
2/login to buy interesting base
3/stockpile 200 bases but never use them because RNG is worthless
Please God no, no loot rain. I will never understand these design decisions and it’s the worst part of those games where you just go through your inventory throwing junk away .
No I mean shop disappears (except Merk).
So the plugin will permit you to consult Merk’s offers. However for normal shop they will be removed, so it will loose its interest.
You can see it like that…
I see it differently… I just need a good weapon with the blessings I want. And I will be able to get that with the system they will give us
You eliminate one layer: getting a good base. And we don’t even know how good that system is going tobe.
We’ve been shown not to trust what they say before they actually deliver the design.
You still have those barriers on the crafting todolist:
-Rolled perks
-Rolled perks rank
-Rolled traits
-Rolled traits rank
Buy grey weapon with good stats → upgrade to green with a bad perk for 150 plasteel → ok i need just 1 good perk now, so i can reroll the bad one → you got a second bad perk for 250 plasteel more
and then you upgrade once more, get a bad trait.
Now what?
You go back down one row in the RNG tree
And that’s not even counting the fact that if you are looking for 1 of 2 specific Tier 4 traits, you are in for a BAD time considering the reroll system we have right now already gave me carpal tunnel.
And not even ctaking Trait tier into account either
Frankly, I don’t think you need one good perk. You can choose one.
Perso, this point annoys me for curios, but for weapon I don’t try to get 2 good perks. If I get one good and can get the other one by refine, that’s great but if I don’t… not a problem
Regarding blessings, here, I need at least 1 excellent blessing. Here it is a big problem.
Problem is that… you want a perfect weapon. But the perfect weapon will be rare in the game. You want it common. But it won’t work like that.
However, if you consider the gameplay, playing missions and killing hordes, you really don’t need a perfect weapon. I have shown you what I use. We are far from the perfect weapon and I can easily do heresy and can go to damnation also.
Off course, you have the right to focus on numbers, but it will bring you only deception. At least if you absolutely want a perfect weapon. If you don’t search for such perfect weapon but a good weapon, I believe the system will permit to get that.
You may not think, but the goal of the design is to ultimately produce a system where players have agency over what they want to run with.
This is essentially playing with Vermintide Orange weapons, where you’d need to sacrifice a goat to the RNG god to get the perks you wanted on your weapon. (note that now we have a larger perk pool, AND a way larger tiered trait pool)
The endgoal and moment you could really start focusing on your build was with Red items (which we don’t have yet)
Rare weapons being completely RNG goes against any kind of progression/reward loop.
The level 30+9999 guy could still be missing it, while the guyw ith 30+1 can have it by luck.
Is that not a problem?
I will just repost this:
I’ve got 1,5k hours in V2, and after i was tired from different challenges and plenty of hours with “just play for fun” reason behind, collecting all red weapon was my selfmade achievement. So yet again, i don’t want that scenario when Fatshark make some balance change and my armory collection of perfect tools for killing heretics got ruined because of locks.
Exactly, red weapons being “easy” (but the stupid button mashing is STILL present in DT in order to get the perks you want) to reroll meant that testing different breakpoints and builds was “simple”.
Build optimisation is a huge part of the endgame of any game based on loot.
Yes, this some sort of teasing with artificial blocks. There are some blessings that should work good in synergy and i want to try it, and i want to gather them all. But what game wants from me for that? Not even grind but gambling, not raising my skills or anything else. I mean if there was atleast some materials that can remove locks but you recieve them only for extra hard missions even that would be good for me. But this locks there, well they exist just to lock you.
Easy. You buy several from the shop and keep only the good ones…
For the “the system will continue being trash”, let’s use it before making such assertions.
Except I already bought a ton and even those I bought turned out to be duds when upgraded.
There is no fixing the system just by increasing the amount you can buy/drop(because you’re still hard limited by resources, mostly plasteel if you’ve been a half-decent player), but you’ll have to be conscious to see that.
