As an experienced player with five level 30 characters, I believe the current system that requires veteran players to grind through lower-level content for the new playable character is unnecessarily restrictive. While I understand the intent to provide a balanced experience for new players, it feels like a significant hindrance for those of us who have already mastered the game’s mechanics. Implementing a more flexible system that allows experienced players to skip or quickly progress through lower-level content for the new character would enhance the overall gaming experience and cater to the diverse needs of the player base. This adjustment would not only respect the time and effort invested by veteran players but also create a more dynamic and engaging environment for everyone.
Map devs ≠ Character dev
Annoyed me a LOT with arbites too. Just let us fast track it. Tie it to auric maelstrom completion just like Havoc was or something. (the initial unlock requirement for Havoc was beating an auric maelstrom, iirc)
Also, this is an excellent point:
I cannot imagine that the new/returning casual players had a lot of fun watching the experienced players rush through lower difficulties at mach 5 when Arbites released.
Did you reply to the wrong thread on accident? I can’t make sense of how this relates to this thread
I think it was from assuming you meant new levels and not the ability to level skip Arbites. Honestly I agree. I waited until they let us use our stupid bionic eyes and such on dog cops as well before buying it and I almost took a 2 day break from grinding the class altogether because of how annoying and not fun it is playing without specs and forced to run low difficulty outside groups. Do we have to put in like 3-4 hours of what is essentially a chore to an experienced player…
Sorry wasn’t well awake.
Op’s point also can apply when new weapons are added to the game, and you have to boost the mastery of it to be able to play with them fully.
There is a way to skip the story, I chose not to, and made it through for all of my characters
I get the point of OP, but it’s really trivial to just go through the missions. It’s a non-issue.
Not sure there’s a point to be had here. A new class will come with (we HOPE… cough cough Arbitrator) new playstyles that you should take the time to get comfortable with a little bit at a time.
You don’t teach a man to swim by throwing him into the sea in the middle of a raging storm, after all.
you don’t force a professional swimmer to try out his new swimming trunks in the kiddy pool though
You also dont force a professional swimmer to try out a completely new stroke by competing in the Olympics.
So we’re looking for a middleground I guess?
Maybe private games should count towards the completion limit of the difficutly played, and once you’re at 10 for that difficulty, have all lower difficulties completed as well?
Or cut the requirements in half for players with a lvl 30 char or something like that?
Yeah maybe something like that but I honestly dont have a problem with playing a completely new character in lower difficulties.
In private games you can get pulled in to higher difficulties by someone else and so level up faster that way but I didnt know that it wouldnt count towards completion limits
so making that count might be helpful
. Its not like the current system has stopped people moving up in to difficulties they cant handle anyway ![]()
I apologized at the start of every mission through Heresy that I would not be stopping or coming back for anyone and they could blame FS for my impatience in not offering a skip of some kind.
I still offered help to any new players that wanted it (shocker, none) and did the objectives.
It was fun as a one-time experience to see how far I’d come since the days I was afraid of regular damnation.
But I am not looking forward to the leveling process again.
well a duo-buddy, 3 %xp curios and loads of energy drinks should do the trick in a couple hours
can’t imagine going through the lows again with people on said diff.
normally a duo match took around 9-10 minutes, damnation included, three times the duration would mean total rage…and caffeine shock ![]()
at the speed one hops through them, it’s the least “nuisance” of the process.
doing auric maelstrom with arbi at 30 with buddy pirx did count as damnation finished, though even completing them several times did not speed up the boring process ![]()
You CAN fast track mastery though by just sacrificing weapons. I have not leveled a single weapon by using it.
what else is there to do with all these mats and dockets capped at 25 mio anyways ![]()
“Maybe we could eat it?”
Exactly, I think a great solution would be the ability to literally just buy character levels just like how mats and dockets buy mastery levels
That would be a great work around for it. Make it a higher cost so new players who are building characters would not consider it worth it at that stage, While also giving some purpose to our stockpiles of Mats.
