New Class Dec 2nd?

Probably a solid guess and very likely correct but a strange choice all the same. We aren’t a warband like you find in Dark Heresy (primarily concerned with investigation rather than fighting) or even in a scenario where xenos assistance would be beneficial or anything other than counter-productive at best. I can only see this as a “rule of cool” kind of move but then, VT2 had a couple of those too. Classes that made less lore sense than they did gameplay sense.

I always figured that the amount of abuse that would have to thrown around to make a xenos party member believable in the setting would also make it kind of grating to actually play. Like elf in VT but dialed up to 11, just non-stop slurs.

Agreed, not my first choice, but, TBF, in the lore, they are a very widespread mercenary race. They only have TT presence in the Tau armies but they are found in a far greater region than Tau space (which the Moebian Domain is supposed to be quite far removed from, an entirely different Segmentum).

Id be more than surprised myself if its a kroot kill broker:

  1. Command unit
  2. xenos
  3. doesnt fit narrative

Remember it has to be a unit you can realistically see lots of. Arbites works because its an entire well equipped, well trained police force that moved in.

My moneys on Hive Ganger or Admech but they surprised me with Arbites so Im very interested to see whats next.

Its pretty obvious they had this lined up for a while so I also wouldnt be surprised if this does release in December.

Him and Warrior Priest were announced and revealed same day, proving that Saltzpyre and Bardin are the best Vermintide heroes.

Speaking of “moved in”…

According to Interrogator Rannick, there’s a lot of issues with transporting things in and out of the Moebian Domain due to… well, let’s call them “Warp-related issues” as an umbrella term.

The Arbitrators in Darktide are from a contingent that’s already stationed within the Moebian Domain itself. Their presence in Darktide makes sense because they’re LOCALS.

Admech, Hive Gangers or Pirates make the most sense because there’d obviously be Admech and Hive Gangers already within the Moebian Domain… and we also have Pirates already on the Mourningstar serving under Shipmistress Brahms. But Tau-affiliated Kroot Mercenaries? I’m extremely doubtful that they’d be so numerous this far from the Tau Empire without a reliable source of reinforcements.

@Mister_E even made a good video explaining why “Broker” could be applied to Hive Gangers due to the “Stolen Rations” Event:

If FS made Fire Warrior 2 I would be so damn stoked.

Especially if it was a fun linear shooter. God I miss a good linear FPS. Why is everyone so obsessed with open world and looting and ‘returning to base’ these days. I want to play an amazing, epic, explosive narrative. HL2 but as a Tau? Yes please! Or as an Ork or any xeno TBH. Sick to death of the human perspective.

Listen to the Ork themed audio books by Mike Brooks and narrated by Harry Myers. They are absolute GOLD and so damn refreshing to hear things from xeno perspective!

Fire Warrior on ps2 was my introduction to 40k I have no idea why people say that game is bad (maybe the pc port was bad?)I loved it.

Isn’t a hive ganger basically just a human criminal gang member? If that is the new class then I will likely be giving it a hard pass as that sounds boring AF. I had previously considered the new class as a mandatory buy as I love DT so much but dang…that option would give me serious reservations.

Same. It’s the most boring road they could take and also the most likely considering it will be a human which can reuse most of the existing weapons.

And you know, Fatshark being Fatshark. This is low hanging fruit.

Idk a psychotic drug addicted mad max style lunatic dual wielding custom auto pistols could be pretty fun

It’s the most boring option of anything from the “Human” pool, unless it’s done RIGHT. There’s a pretty damn cool array of illegally-modified Weapons in 40K just waiting to be tapped into.

There’s potential, but if not implemented correctly, a Hive Ganger Archetype would fall VERY flat and FAST.

Admech is a much safer option that’d be inherently cool and interesting, but I’d take literally anything before they ruin this game by adding Kroots to it.

Meh, the current characters already kinda fill the lunatic theme. Duel wielding could surely be granted to any of the existing classes.

I’m not really fussed by duel wielding myself tbh. I don’t see it bringing much to the table beyond gimmick.

Damn you guys have gotten me really worried about this new class now

Yeah, I think you’re on an island with that take. Having a Xenos or other abhuman would be much cooler than just another bloke/gal.

If it was a xeno I would buy without even blinking. Something actually different!

I don’t think our definition of lunatic is quite the same🙂

Minority or majority, I don’t care. I’m CLEARLY not alone in this opinion and that’s all that matters.

Adding Kroots would go directly against the intention behind Darktide. It’s the HUMAN EXPERIENCE in 40K, and Fatshark’s already diluting that enough with the powercrept power fantasy.

No poster boy Astartes for once whilst normal Humans and Abhumans are finally getting the love they deserve. I could maybe see an Eldar being added if there wasn’t a question of why they’re on the same level as a former Astra Militarum NCO, seeing as they’re sufficiently humanoid. But Kroots are too far removed from us and don’t make enough sense.

I ultimately want an Admech Archetype more than anything else, followed closely by other kinds of Abhumans to complement Ogryns and Psykers. But not Xenos so far removed from the Human form, at least not before the others.

I mean I can’t fault the logic here but damn, a tau kroot?

For each xenos that’s added that isn’t a squat or an aeldari just lessened the pool of xenos that could be included. And I don’t really care for kroot one way or another really, I’d still play it but I’d rather have an eldar or tau fire warrior or sister of battle or whatever ..

Yes, the PC port was bad. You couldnt even remap controls and the layout was less than optimal.

Yes, but there is a quite varied amount of styles, weapons and other tech to play with even just among the 6 main gangs.

Its a staple of WH40k on the TT which is why lots of people want it. Theyve shown they can do it effectively in V2 with the Rapier and Pistol. I would love to see the return of dual wielding. It could even take place of both weapons, you give up some melee moveset and gun stability in exchange for instant access to both melee and ranged. I have my doubts they are going to bring it in other than on one specific weapon like in V2, much like the pistol shield combo for the Arbites.

Again I just dont see this making narrative sense nor does it fit within the framework. How are we meant to have lots of Eldar or Tau or any xenos running around? I just dont see it happening. I remain ready to be surprised though, as FS have been quite good at pulling in leftfield ideas.

Slightly semantics I guess but I don’t count that as duel weild, given the shield is not a weapon.

I’ve no doubt duel wielding could be cool but in a game where we are constantly switching between weapons every few seconds it would prob feel quite gimmicky.

Nevertheless it’s still just another flavour of human and we’ve got a lot of flavours already. An admech, abhuman or xeno would be infinitely more interesting to me. Just my preference though oc.

At the end of the day, mechanics are mechanics and could be dressed in any form. I’m just hoping for something a bit more fun than more post apocalypse mad max stuff which I already stay away from in existing cosmetics.

A broker and his “team" have broken through the warp disturbance and Grendel is happy to use them as front line fodder whilst they are here and they bring their own unique weapons etc.

I mean, any narrative can easily be written for any desired outcome.

What was Arbites named in the files before release? Does anyone know?
