The hypocrisy is fun

So I get it that Hive Scum is defenitely not interesting at all thematically wise

… But are we really gonna ignore Arbites?

What if Hive Scum was the first DLC class? Because honestly, that’s all I really see going for Arbites

He’s essentially Free stagger guy with a dog that can pin down targets or free yourself, yet somehow Arbites didn’t get 20% of the complaints Hive Scum got

We’re getting so much more with Hive Scum

Yet all the complaints come from either the a trailer being horrendous (which is a truth nuke), or the class not being admech related, like it’s literally this

Dead internet theory and some people just like to whinge. In fairness, being space cop with a doggo is also slightly more entertaining than a rejectier reject.

Regardless of theme, my playgroup is looking forward to new toys and mechanics.

These people delude themselves into believing x without any hints, get disappointed. Tale as old as time.

Hive Ganger was already speculated as the potential next class by this very same community for months and months I don’t understand why it’s such a shock. All the nitpicking is pretty frustrating to read.

Ganger being the lamest option was a common sentiment.

We didn’t delude ourselves. We were just hoping that for once Fatshark would do something other than the lowest effort option.

But I knew it would be ganger from the start. Check my post history if you don’t believe me. I’m not disappointed. Just more jaded.

Dual wield and an entirely new mechanic is low effort since?

Yea they are adding an entire second skill tree for the “Chemlab”, in addition to the new blitzes & special moves.

Very unfair to suggest a ganger is “Low Effort” - the other key is that they will be implementing thousands of lines of new dialogue with these characters and frankly thats what I am looking forward to the most. And that definitely takes effort to design these personalities, how they fit in the story and what they want to tell through them, and then write these thousands of funny or interesting voice lines & then act them!

This game has a story which I actually quite like being told through all of the characters and voice lines and ANY new DLC character is another avenue to explore that story. Can’t wait to hear what these lil crackheads have to say about stuff.

I think when teasers were coming out, there was a lot of speculation beyond “there is a new class coming out”. People thought it was introducing a new mission, or another side npc, and when it finally came out that there was a new class, there was genuine excitement over the concept that we could have a character for the fifth slot being filled and that they’ll have a cool mechanical gimmick.

Now the honeymoon period is over, we’ve known there was going to be a new class announcement for a while, and now everything that was wrong with arbites is more obviously noted with scum. Reuse of class talents, auras, and no truly unique ability options, and an option to just avoid the gimmick entirely (no clue whether this will be in favor of additional stat buffs like arbitrator or not, we will have to see).

I don’t personally see how hive scum is boring. It seems completely designed around and fitting the game’s core loop, which is shooting and kiting around, slicing and dicing enemies. From like last year to this year, every new weapon has been a power weapon, power greatsword, power mauls, force greatsword, power falchion. We already have 4 classes that have high tech weaponry that murder countless enemies in a single swing, so I don’t see why we can’t have more of an inverse representation, makeshift crude weapons with no intention in design beyond just wanting to stab you with an object.

I don’t think arbites really fits the game design wise. Ogryn feels better designed for frontlining and holding enemies in onespot and zealot feels better designed for kiting out and killing enemies as they encroach around you. The only reason the class is better than either of them is purely because he’s got stronger talents and stronger weapons, but otherwise feels like a vt2 class playing darktide.

The only issue I have with that is that there are still so many actual Warhammer 40k weapons languishing, either by being almost completely overshadowed by boring mundane weapons or not in the game at all, and they come up with a character type that uses none of the weapons considered 40k, instead mostly using improvised melee weapons, firearms with designs that are over 42000 years old in-universe and over a century old in the real world, and the novelty is that you sometimes use two of them at the same time. If that isn’t underwhelming, I don’t know what is.

What’s more is that you’re going to be wasting Brunt’s, Melk’s and Hadron’s time in aquiring or modifying that junk? Thematically, and visually it’s a bit of a miss for me.

People should get more mad about the fact that dual wielding is a paid exclusive, when it was a baseline option for most classes in Vermintide 2.

People should get mad about real issues, not imaginatory ones in a video game. You are not entitled to anything.

I would have expected the arbites to come to the ship after the gangers, because they don’t trust them.

Actually i was disappointed by both classes.

But the thing is, people liked arbites because of judge dread (which has a cult following), which personally i couldnt care less about but i can see why others would be into it.
Meanwhile hive scum is…. Just some punk, no special lore or references. Maybe necromunda but that was never very popular (at least to my knowledge).

About about the admech thing. People dont think next class is admech they HOPE its admech. Big difference. Is it wrong to desire a specific thing to be added in the game?

Admechs is one of the most popular factions in wh40k. There is a tabletop army. It was a request from day 1.

Because it has an appeal - dog. Summoner classes are extremely popular in video games.

Arbites while not being a major faction are still more popular than gangers for many reasons - their pressence in the lore is bigger, provide Dredd/police brutality memes, have Kill Team minis.

Necromunda is niche and more like a subsetting.

After there were no super warhammerish weapons (there was a cybermastiff atleast), their next class is about stab pistol and crowbar, as if there is not enough mundane weapons. Yeah, needler is cool, but that’s it.

Imaging people want iconic warhammerish weapons in a warhammer game?

On top of that you have a theme of rejects-criminals already, there even were hive-gangs themed cosmetics. Bringing up ganger as a new paid DLC after 2 years is just lame. If it was one of the basic classes then whatever.

You’ve answered yourself here. Hive Scum is heavy metal, 2000AD, punk comics, Necromunda, all gigantic influences on 40k. If you agree that Judge Dredd (which comes from the same place btw) has a cult following you must logically follow on that the hive ganger comes from a similar cult following.

Since it was in V2 with braced/griffonfoot pistols for Saltz, drakefire pistols for Bardin, and plenty of dual wielding melee weapons for all characters?

As red blooded Americans we are entitled to our whining in God’s greatest country. If you don’t like it go back to Sovietstan comrade Speechipolicechev.

Edit: Adding /s because sometimes I have too much faith in people not taking an absurd joke seriously.

i think hive scum would be great, if wasn’t pay to play
