Found this gem on twitter got me thinking ![]()
Very, one could also be done about Genestealer cults.
Not entirely accurate. The main problem we have is that the hive scum is very simply lame af. Really, what is special and exciting about a simple hive ganger? Even their weapons are lame. A crowbar, a bonesaw, and a dinky little knife? We can find those weapons in other games just fine, we wanted something more specific to 40k. Also, the backlash is due to how awesome arbitrator was so the expectation was that the class would be equal to or higher than arbitrator in cool factor/power level. A hive ganger really isnât anything special, you can find a normal âscumâ archetype anywhere, itâs just not that insipired. Itâs boring and lame. So I doubt there would be as much backlash if they released hive ganger, then arbitrator since the power levels would be escalatory instead of a flat downgrade
should be f2p

I understand you get in with all the cool play testers so you have to defend this hive scum decision but you could at least address the arguments I brought forth
the malding/review bombing that the children that only care about flashing lights in their theme park is kinda funny sorry.
Notice how they didnt review bomb with arbitrator? Because arbitrator is cool, hive scum is boring and lame. Do you understand
If you read forum, you will see itâs very accurate and funny.
I donât think the hive scum is interesting thematically or aesthetically⌠but the mechanics from the dev blog seem unique enough. At the end of the day, itâs a first person game where I barely see my character so if it plays well Iâll have fun personally.
I donât think they deserve to get review bombed for it but⌠yeah, I think it was obvious to see people werenât going to be happy about this one in terms of lore/coolness.
be careful, common sense is not welcome round âere.
So weâre at the âPlayers expected too muchâ part. Reminds me of Cyberpunk 2077 when it released.
FS didnât say we got tech priest, and I expected Ganger from the get go, because this is FS and they will always go for the lowest hanging fruit.
But itâs still disapointing. Because itâs lame and a mash up of existing classes.
There was some speculation about techpriest for Arbites but it was drowned out by RATLINGS NOW and the people who (correctly) guessed Arbitrator/Enforcer due to the hound.
But honestly people are more salty itâs a relatively boring class with a boring paint-by-numbers trailer. The class breakdown basically going âso yâknow how thereâs vet right-hand tree and zealot right-hand tree, what if both of those were in one classâ instead of something more out-there also sparked rage.
People like it when thereâs something new and interesting, and Hive Scum are just Reject Premium.
You are right, listening to the people you want money from about what they are willing to give you money for is such a stupid idea. Better make something completely irrelevant and see if it sticks with your customer base. If not, just cancel the whole project and move on to repeat past mistakes. Genius!
And I donât even care for an Ad Mech class, I just think it would be more interesting.
Iâm more in line with a Commissar class.
Thereâs like nothing engage with here. Most of your recent posts are complaining that the women in the game arenât hot enough and the others are just crying that one class out of 6 doesnât click with you. I can only imagine what the many posts you have that were flagged were saying that somehow make those posts look mundane. Go pound sand.
I legitimately think the idea of a new class hard carried arbites release. Now that people are more used to it theyâre just going âwow this class is just a mishmash of the othersâ but that was also arbites, people just didnât complain until they got the class and went âwow, lonewolf is just vet but betterâ or âthey got psyker dodge talents with zealot and ogryn damage nodesâ.
Were people really not expecting class homogeny? Thereâs only like 2 ability types they can take from vermintide at this point, and thatâs ults that deal an immediate set of damage then go on cooldown (grail knight, waystalker, bountyhunter), and an ult that pulls out a third weapon that recharges overtime (engineer). Keystones function almost exactly the same between characters and are either passive stacks of bonus stats gained by killing elite/specials/horde (piety, heavy hitter, execution order, DD), or activated upon reaching a conditional (weapons specialist, martyrdom, lucky bullet, whatever 3rd arbites keystone is).
This just seems like the most obvious thing to me. Did anyone really expect 3 completely unique above and beyond designed abilities, blitz, and auras and keystones? This exact problem wouldâve been prevalent in admech as well.
I really donât understand people who go on Steam and write a negative review of the game after a 1000+ hours, because âoh no, the new class isnât xâ or âwhere is my solo mode, in the coop game?"
Wtf is this comparison to cyberpunk? Fatshark promised new class, not even specific class while cd project red promised so much more than what we got, especially on release, cdpr created players expectations.
There was no promise that it will be x class, instead people speculated and started to believe that their speculation will be correct one.
I speculated that it was ganger from the start because itâs lowest effort and I was right.
People use Steam reviews as a cudgel when the only thing a company listens to is those reviews.
Consistent complaints about an issue like cosmetics or solo mode across the forums and reddit, but no review tanking? Utter silence.
Accidentally left in potential patch notes for ds and plasma and people got salty enough to tank the reviews? Immediate apology moving at the speed of sound.
Thatâs why my review remains negative until the shop stops being garbage, and I constantly push people who have problems with the game to leave negative reviews. Itâs the only thing that gets Fatshark to say and do stuff.
