[Needs fixing] Griefing, Rejoining After Kick, and the Lack of Temporary Host Bans

Title: Griefing, Rejoining After Kick, and the Lack of Temporary Host Bans

Hi Fatshark Team,

I’ve been playing Vermintide for almost two years now, and I genuinely love the game. It has become normal for me to play exclusively on Legend or higher difficulty, and I really appreciate the challenge and teamwork the game usually offers.

Unfortunately, I’ve encountered a serious issue that can completely ruin the experience: players who intentionally grief cannot effectively be removed from a game.

Here is an example of what happened today:

After a long day, I started the game and joined a random match as Victor, the host was playing as Kruber. After a few minutes, a third player joined as Bardin. As soon as he joined, he ran off alone and died almost immediately. He then became extremely angry at the team and started writing insults in the chat.

He got even more frustrated because we took his potions while he was dead — but at that point, we had nothing left, and we were dealing with a boss and a horde at the same time. After we killed the monsters, we kicked him, since there was no reason to join a game just to insult the team.

One minute later, he rejoined the game and started being abusive again. We kicked him again. He rejoined again. This happened 4–5 times.

Eventually, he rejoined and wrote something along the lines of:
“You choose war, so that’s what you will get.”

After that, he began intentionally killing the team by body-blocking and punching us. During all of this, a massive horde was attacking us, making it very difficult to kick him immediately. We eventually managed to kick him, but it was too late — Kruber was dead, the run was lost, and we failed the mission even though we were almost at the end.

This was extremely frustrating. In the end, we had to set the game to private and start over.

It really doesn’t feel right that a player who gets kicked can immediately rejoin the same host and continue griefing. There should be some kind of protection against this behavior — for example, a temporary timeout that prevents a kicked player from rejoining the same host for 1 hour or even 24 hours.

Please consider implementing a system where, when a player is kicked, they cannot rejoin that same host for a certain period of time. It would greatly improve the experience for players who just want to enjoy the game and play as a team.

Thank you for your time, and for continuing to support a game I truly enjoy.

You have to block them on Steam, and they can’t join.

Either go into Steam Overlay and find Recent players (only works with Steam Overlay active).

Or search them in the ‘Add a friend’ section.

Annoying system, but it works.

I’ve noticed one of the worst communities is the eastern playerbase. They’re either hacking/cheating or just toxic in general. I insta-kick/block them when i see one joining because it just saves everyone the headache of having a hacker in the game/having them run ahead, die, and flame. That’s not to say it’s exclusive to only the eastern players it’s just something i’ve noticed continually being a problem in my games. There most definitely should be a “block” function in-game to prevent people from rejoining after being kicked without the player having to go into the steam interface and block them. During a wave it’s next to impossible to do that without getting downed or taking a ton of damage while your character just stands still.

On the other side i’ve played plenty of games with some great players that I’d like to add and continue playing with them but the steam interface is cumbersome and doesn’t always work when inviting people since others can join ahead of them. They should have implemented some sort of “social” system into this game to blacklist and friend people in-game. But alas, there’s nothing that we can do other than suffer with the system we have and it’s highly unlikely they’re going to do something about it now years later. I mean hell it’s like pulling teeth to just get them to fix bugs that’ve been in the game for years NOW. Could you imagine trying to lobby them for a new social system? It just wouldn’t happen. They’re far too busy with Darktide, or dare i say, incompetent, to implement something so massive as that.

To top it off i’ve never seen them actually ban anyone from the game as is. Unless I block someone on steam I’ll continue to see the same griefer/hackers appearing in my games which is why I insta-kick and block people who are doing such. You should try and do the same but I agree more should be done.

TL;DR It’s unlikely they’ll implement something like that, they can’t even fix bugs that’ve been in the game for years now. And don’t even ban hackers. Just insta-kick or disband (since people block kicking), and block them on steam via the interface.
