I don’t think it’s a good idea to have only universal talents when you have a lot of vastly different guns. They all have their own flaws wich you need to work around. But overall it’s whatever.
In a perfect world i would like to have weapon specialization sub tree for every class.
It’s migh be not that bad as i think. But I remember was doing peanance for those keystones and it was unpleasant expirience. Played several runs walking only crouched.
This is such a weird design. These keystones create a problem in the first place to sell you a solution. And even easier solution for 1 additional talent point.
Why creating this weird interraction in the first place. Aiming and tracking while moving and dodgin is already takes more skill. It should be rewarded or atleast shouldn’t be penalized.
Zealot momentum keystones on the other hand is the opposite and have a very organic design.
I mean you’re not wrong entirely but there are cases where neither of those statements are true, and those are the guns you can do a very good MF build with. Laspistol and IAG are top dogs for it IMO, they both become extremely powerful with MF and stack maintenance is genuinely pretty natural and not taxing. Especially laspistol since it’s very mobile and has exceptional hip fire accuracy. Heavy Las Pistol can one shot specials and can brain dead solo every ranged enemy from the comfort of ghost if you desire. The better Las Pistol just sh!ts damage with it.
I haven’t tried it with Recon or Hellbore but I’ve seen both used or advocated by skilled players. Hellbore is pushing it for me but I’m not familiar with the breakpoints there so shouldn’t really speak further.
Yes it is restrictive and niche but I don’t mind that if it works (it very much does IMO).
I also wouldn’t blame anyone for wanting a more flexible, widely applicable keystone, but I’m yet to see a suggestion I prefer to current MF, and at least I don’t think we should misrepresent what current MF is. It is painfully niche to a handful of guns but it does also slap in that context.
The biggest complaint I’ve heard is that it changes nothing. To get to the talent, you have to spend a lot of points. But would it really be more effective than just grabbing Precision Strikes (30% weakspot) and Marksman (+20% strength on weakpoints)? And these being useful on ranged AND melee. And you’ve saved points. Now you can spend them reaching other talents.
TBH I think we all deep down know these talent trees are lazy design. They could do so much better.
Exuberance doesn’t need to be only for DMR type weapons, they could just make the duration variable on the weapon type. So DMRs would get the 7 seconds but an autopistol would get between 1-3 (idk, not doin the math).
edit - realistically DMR probably shouldn’t get a full 7 seconds, the weapons in VT2 were all slower than that.
I don’t rly think you need Exuberence alike talent for guns that don’t go full in with ads. Because you don’t spend much time in reduced fov mode with them. It’s only guns with ADS secondary that reduce your awarness and hip fire is not an option. Some ads guns like reccon, bolter or shotguns have hip fire as a viable option.
The point is to make it so it isn’t a completely dead talent if you don’t pick the specified weapon. IIRC, they’ve already talked about trying not to create talents that specify a type of weapon.
Now whether or not that is a good idea is a completely different conversation.
