But unlike a Machine gun, a Flame thrower need more skilled maintenance, and can’t really be used to bash enemies in the face.
Ogryns don’t do maintenance and as for bashing enemies with a machinegun… At best, it will jam with all the giblets getting into the reciever, at worst the barrel will bend and be destroyed with the next shot.
I wouldn’t go into the realistic aspect of the Warhammer and Darktide in particular, because if it was realistic, any melee weapon would break after dealing with the first horde.
In any case, it would be to GW to allow it or not, and I doubt they would.
Flamer and other exotic weapons don’t fit with the simple minds of Ogryns

A crude and brutal weapon, the mace-fist is actually a series

the Spinward Front. Simple to build and use, and designed to
fit around the hand of an Ogryn, these spiked metal gloves
are strong enough to survive anything the Ogryn might
try. Not sophisticated by any means, mace-fists emphasise
uncontrolled brute strength over finesse and technology.

Would love to see the mace fists and a lascannon.
Mace Fist because we obviously need a fist weapon.
Lascannon because if Ogryn’s going to get a precision weapon, it should be the biggest, scariest, loudest precision weapon ever.
Everyone already knows I want an autocannon.
I’m actually against a Heavy Bolter because I don’t trust FS … sorry but my heart wouldn’t handle it if it was bottom of the barrel weak like the TLHS.
And I absolutely want the Chain Cleaver and the Heavy Rocksaw Cutter. I know the Rocksaw is depicted as an augment for ogryns, but a weildable version does exist for genestealer cultists. If their pickaxe is good enough for my ogryn then so is their heavy rocksaws.

Buffing the old weapons to become at least somewhat viable would also help.

seems we are getting this in some capacity,
i would still like to get more Marks of those Ogryn weapons that dont have more than 1 Mark.
